I've been traveling with my racquets to Thailand, Philippines, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay...In my experience, when traveling internationally always be prepared to check your racquets. Some countries/airlines do not allow racquets in the cabin, with no exception. In Thailand I had my racquets in my backpack and a small suitcase carry on. When they told me I couldn't bring them in the cabin, I had to scramble to find a cardboard box that would fit them, as they wouldn't fit in any of my bags. Almost missed my flight because that took any extra hour. Now, I keep my racquets in a larger checked bag. As long as your suitcase has a rugged exterior and you pad them with clothing they will be fine.

I literally travel for tournaments almost every week and I’ve been stopped maybe once for bringing my 12racquet bag on the plane with me. I used to use just my tennis bag as a carry on but now I also bring a backpack as a personal item. If you don’t over stuff your racquet bag you can always squeeze in someone else’s bags on top of the grips of the racquets. I’ve seen my friends who use the new Wilson bag have issues but Yonex, Head, and Babolat usually have no issues with boarding

Some airlines make you carry the racquets outside of your bag. And if the bag doesn’t fit you can take the racquets out of your bag, squash the bag down (it works with my Head Bag) and fit the racquets in loosely within the overhead compartment. I would recommend to always being a plastic racquet bag so you can carry your racquets by hand and keep them scratch free.

Just as an FYI- nobody said anything about me carrying on a 9 pack Yonex Pro bag (the size of some other 12 packs) on a 12 hr international flight before

Totally depends on how long you’re going away for. If it’s a long time take the big bag. If it’s a few days take the backpack 2-3 racket holder

YMMV, but I've always used a 6pack(80% full) and haven't had an issue yet. Will even barely fit in the overhead of a CRJ-200.

I've been using a tennis backpack. Most airlines count this as a personal item, not a carry-on.

@@ArChi285 correct. The tennis backpack fits under the seat in front of me so there's no charge for that. It's a "personal item" not a carry-on

@@ArChi285 even with 2 racquets, still considered a personal item. No charge! I can put my racquets, shoes, some light clothes and laptop all inside my backpack and there's no charge. It's perfect

would the cabin pressure and altitude effect the racquet and or strings? bout to fly out tommorow

Cabin interior pressure is usually maintained to not go over 10,000 feet no matter how high the airplane flies. I have no experience flying with a racquet, so I can’t answer that part of your question.

it all depends on flight attendant and gate personnel. I was able to use the 12 wilson pack on all of my flights except for my last flight home. gate personnel ok'd it but then flight attendant was picky and made me check it in. gonna go with tennis backpack from now on. i would hate to check in my rackets and then upon arrival bag is missing or racket is damaged.

British Airways don't allow me to take my racket on board, so have to check it in , any tips for protecting my racket inside my hold luggage?

This happened to me in Thailand. I had my rackets in my backpack and my carry on was too small to fit the racquets inside. They were strict about no racquets allowed in the cabin. I had to scramble to find a cardboard box that would fit, be checked, and almost missed my flight. I always travel with the racquets in a checked bag now. As long as your checked bag is sturdy and has outer protection, they will be fine inside with the clothes.
