That's great to hear! We've recently tried to be more like ourselves on camera rather than being formal/presenting all the time, so this is very encouraging!

I agree, the A7S is still a useful tool for low budget stuff. I'm more interested in global shutter cameras now myself than the highest resolution.

Ooooh yeah! Would love a global shutter camera, especially for handheld and whip pan scenes.

You guys should seriously consider the pocket 4k cuz you guys don't use autofocus. It's a great camera and braw is an absolute joy to work with. The only drawback is you cannot get super wide shots with a relatively blurry background. Other than that this should be great for you. Also, compared to the a7s3, it's a lot cheaper
@TheFilmLook
@TheFilmLook 3 года назад
Aye we actually had a talk about what we would get next and I think the pocket 6k was the one we chose. We used the pocket 4k when it first came out and it was proper mint, to be fair! What do you shoot on?
@8lec_R
@8lec_R 3 года назад
@@TheFilmLook I personally am too broke for a p4k (which would be my ideal camera) lmao. I just shoot as a hobby, but am looking into freelancing once this covid thing is over. At the moment, I have a Canon Eos M, on which I have installed magic lantern that lets me shoot RAW (workflow ain't great, but the final image does look pretty cool)
@TheFilmLook

@@8lec_R I remember trying out the raw feature with magic lantern on the 550d and it was crazy! I imagine it's even better these days.

Personally I'm actually in the process of saving up my pennies to upgrade from my old Panasonic G85 to the new Panasonic S5. It's utterly insane what all Panasonic threw into that camera for its price ($2000 USD); the full V-Log and VariCam color science from their top-tier cinema line, 4:2:2 10bit color, 4K (both DCI and UHD), a variety of high frame rate options (though admittedly most of them are limited to 8bit), anamorphic shooting modes in-camera (plus an IBIS setting for anamorphic filming) and the ability to output 5.9K ProRes RAW into an external recorder if needed. There's other "more capable" cameras out there, but for the money, the S5 just makes all the sense in the world to me. Especially since, like you guys, the vast majority of my lenses are manual focusing vintage lenses. Maybe the S5 would be a good fit for you guys too? Either that or the full on S1H?
@TheFilmLook
@TheFilmLook 3 года назад
Will defs have a look into the S5! It sounds mint.
@incendiesproductions
@incendiesproductions 3 года назад
@@TheFilmLook Yeah, the sample footage I've seen from the camera online is pretty stellar. Generally heard nothing but great feedback on the handling/user experience for the camera too, aside from the autofocus (though apparently it's a lot more manageable if you figure out the quirks and get the settings in right).
@versatile1684
@versatile1684 3 года назад
I bought the S5 almost within 2 weeks of its release.It's fantastic camera no doubt.But the problem for me is that unfortunately in last 4 to 5 months I have inclined towards shooting Anamorphic for my films.Most of the affordable and even the high end anamorphic lenses have APSC/Super 35/M4/3 crop factor. So now I think I made a wrong decision because I could have saved $500-$600 buy buying the GH5 instead of S5 as I don't think I ever will be able to use the Full frame ability of S5. And apart from that S5 is almost identical to GH5. But all said, If you are thinking of shooting with Spherical lenses and autofocus is not a factor you won't get a better filmmaking camera at that price point..
@incendiesproductions
@incendiesproductions 3 года назад
@@versatile1684 But the S5's Anamorphic mode is strictly in Super35/APS-C! Only the S1H has a full frame Open Gate mode for Anamorphic. So you can still use your traditional Super35 anamorphic glass and adapters on the S5! Meanwhile, as far as I'm aware, the GH5's anamorphic mode would still only be for MicroFourThirds. So really, the S5 isn't money wasted on your end! It's a traditional Super35 anamorphic beast and a full frame spherical filmmaking monster!

Interesting to hear about your thoughts. I want the Canon R5 so bad. It has 12-bit! My GH5 has 10-bit 4:2.2, whisch is greeat. I can't complain about that camera. I love it. You could look into that camera, but the lack of Auto-focus is holding me back, personaly. My next camera needs to have usable auto-focus. I manage to shoot fine with manual, but it is hard sometimes and when shooting alone. Sound is SUUUUPER important as you said. I would love if you made some more tutorials on sound and how to get it to sound good (like your videos and shorts). I forgot to wathc your newest movie- I will do it today and give you my opinion :-)

@@TheFilmLook Just watched the movie, and I have to say it was Amazing. Sooo much good stuff. THe sound was great. The Cinematography was amazing together with lighting. I love the tense music at the end and the performance was really good. I went into the movie thiunking it is gonna be some serious story, but it was more like Comedy, adn I liked that. Something new and funny. Great job. I like that they looked up a tutorial and their boss outside talking to them. And everything went so slow, when watching the clock go down. It was very tense. I feel like it was kind of funny that they had so "good" time to figure it out. I really love the ending with the performance and screaming and the light-effect was so beutiful. And the music in the creddits was so cool. Again the images was so beutiful. The costumes were really realistic. If I have to find something that could have been better (which is hard) I would say the bomb. It looked great, but some parts of it looked a bit Card-boardy, if that i sa word? I think it would look more realistic if you used metal-plates or plastic, but again. I don't know anything about that and maybe it was the style you were going for. The bomb did work really well ad I did not have any problems with it. I felt like all elements of the movie was really well, so it is very picky. It was also a bit hard to hear what they were saying at times, because of their accents, but it is probbably because I am not an native english-speaker myself. I tried the text-option from RU-vid and that helped, but it was a bit behind at times. But I got the story and almost everything they where saying. It was the part where they where talking to the man outside, that was the trickies part for me. But not a problem from yourr side, it is just me :-) You did shoot on the vintage-lenses right? I want to buy more lenses for my camera. Is it cheaper to buy a set of vintage lenses than "Normal" lenses? Is it hard to come by sets of lenses that are vintage? I like the flares from the light. How did you do that? I know a trick where you use fishing-wire, but what technique did you use? Well worth the wait. Great movie!! I can't wait for your next one :-)
@vegardpedersen
@vegardpedersen 3 года назад
@@TheFilmLook one more thing. Did you use a wire-less follow-focus? If so, did you use the Nuclous-Nano? I have considdered buying that one for myself. And if so, did you use a wire-less transmitter for HDMI signal? And what is the name of the awesome end-creddit song? Wow... so many questions.

@@vegardpedersen sorry for not replying to you Vegard mate. Your comment got lost in our system because it's a reply to another comment. Thank you for the feedback, it's great to hear what people think from an outside perspective. You are doing us a world of good! We did in fact shoot the film on vintage lenses, yes! The flares are a small piece of fishing wire behind the lens adapter to bend the light into a flare.
