Nobel Laureate Prof. Abhijit Banerjee is a humble man par excellence. Long live, Sir. The great nation needs a critic of your calibre to the ruling BJP government.
Was waiting to see him on NDTV after his interview with Karan Thapar on Wire. All the intellectuals should join hands to get the toli of sanghis out of India.
Will that fix anything? As long as people want to see hate mongering speeches till then intellectuals will be termed as anti national and leftist and urban naxals...
India should be proud of him, regardless politicians in power or opposition must feel proud of him. But, today's political course if you favor them they applaud if criticize them you'll be labelled as anti national. Very sad!
God! so many advertisement in between, more than television. Btw, thanks for interviewing the Nobel Laureate & glad to know many. So Unfortunately, in India people don't value great scholars coz people are too busy in small talks & cheap politics. Nobel Prize is the world greatest award and not won by many greatest people & powerful countries. I wish India can learn & value these great awardees and able to differentiate and keep scholars away from hoopla politics. Congratulations both Professors & many u can do more esp your project on ''Poverty Alleviation''. Sincerely, with great respect & appreciation from Tibetan Indian.
@Nitin Dandekar Pappu is failure but Feku is a super failure.....No doubt about that..Bad times comes..but the way Cabinet Ministry is playing blame game....& still engaged in criticizing the 6 past Government..it shows that they don't have a solution to deal it...
He is absolutely right that he shouldn’t be dragged into Indian politics and his book should be the subject matter of discussion. The media a lot of times plays this role of pitting one vs another and in the process the viewers lose the gems of wisdom from a great economist like Banerjee
He must be the Finance Minister of India.....time has come that we put experts on the top...unlike this govt putting people without much knowledge in various important posts at the top....
Mr. Jain you seem to be in autopilot mode. You conduct every interview on current political landscape. Even if your guest is Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee or Kiran Majumdaar. It would be better if you informed us about his work and achievements.
This new branch of economics , as a layman dare I call it ”experimental economics” is just an overlap what sociologists have long been working at. The theoretical side of it has been extensively covered by the works like Prof Stiglitz,-another Nobel laureate. At the moment against the marauding capitalism it is a kind of intellectual counterbalance. This too I fear very much would come to pass. I am sure this kind of work would attract a vociferous lip service from all liberal democratic leaders around the globe, seminars chaired by policy wonks would reverberate with thunderous claps,TV anchors would gush and drool silly and then when nobody is watching anymore, left to wither by the wayside in fullness of time.
He is a specialists a expertise that to an Indian we have to be proud of this achievement.Make use of his help we need this at this hour please don't politicise this great achievement.
@@ghost-ops-network27 what ever you are having is just because of liberal thoughts. Do you even know what is exactly opposite word for liberal? Holding mobile phone.. Using internet.. Studying in college.. (No matter who are you. . Low/ high/mino/majority) now you criticize liberals.. tell me what exactly you are expect
Bhai maine modi ko vote diya tha lekin main bhakt nhi hun na hiain liberandu hun n i genuinely believe that modi govt ko abhijit banerjee ka use krna chahiye inko finance minister bna Dena chahiye
Have a debate in English on any economic issue of your choice. Don't brag about your stupidity. Even I have disliked this because wealth distribution is not the answer to poverty but wealth creation is.
Abhijeet benerjee is not use full for India. He has taken up citizen ship of other country. So they have no idea of India and it’s economic problems. I would like to say if he has not taken up foreign citizen ship he would not have got Nobel Prize. This is a true fact. He is like a Doha of kabir, he has become big in name so the Doha says BADA HUWA TO KYA HUWA JAISE PED KHAJOOR, PANTHI KO CHAYA NAHI FHAL LAGE ATHI DOOR. so he is like PAD PAD PATHAR BHAYE LIKH LIKH KAMJOR. THIS IS WHAT HE IS.
Alfred Noble was the person who had invented dynamite. When he saw that his invention is mostly used for destruction rather than construction, he thought he would not like to be remembered as this person, so he gave all his earnings to start the Noble prize. Alfred Noble (1833 to 1896) was the Swedish businessman, chemist, engineer, inventor and philanthropist.
Mr AB knows India well enough to make a distinction between a well meaning judgmental mistake and a criminally intended mistake to profit from. And to stretch the point farther centralised bureaucracy is as much vulnerable to honest mistake or criminal mistake as their decentralised branches. That prompt decision making is a vital ingredient for effective governance is an indisputable fact of life.
What happened with Centralized economics in the last 6 years, feku modi have failed tooth and nail. India is not Gujrat and Gujrat is not India. You cannot run a country as a state. Institutions have become zombies and dictatorship took over democracy. People who don't believe in democracy and constitution are running a democratic country.
This is a good discussion and is thought provoking. However, as is commonly known, academics are not involved in or good at managing businesses or countries. The current factors for the contraction of economies of countries are external. Almost all countries are going through economic slowdown. India is no exception. Australian economy is forecast at 1.3 growth .....a reduction from 2.8. India has diverse and complex factors that need to be taken into account. The key ones during these difficult times are minimising the adverse effects on the poor, maintaining internal and external security......and managing for growth. There is always a tension between ideology and reality. Running a country is more complex than economic modelling. For every one economist in favour of a theory, there are ten who hold contrary viewpoint.
I feel amazed how desperate these leftists are to put the tag of leftist on Abhijeet Banerjee whereas clearly he seems disinterested in petty politics and likes talking about economics... In all the interviews of this man that I watched with the left leaning journalists they were trying so hard to get him to criticize the BJP govt but clearly he doesn't share their opinions. I am glad this man got the Nobel prize. I feel proud that he is an Indian. In one of the interviews he said that criticizing the Modi govt on GST is not fair bcoz had it been any other govt they would not have done a better job and this needed to be done. He also said that demonetization has affected the GDP growth or not is very debatable and there is not enough data to proove such an accusation. But he said that demonetization failed to achieve what it intended (and I agree with that) but nevertheless the intention was good. He even called Modi ji very competent and even in this interview he lauded the Gujarat govt under Modi leadership. Why don't you libtards stop shiting in the comments. P.S- proudly a supporter of the BJP and Modi ji but not a bhakt.
@@parakkalashokn no i am not hailing bjp just requesting dumb wits like you to learn something from him and instead of criticizing modi for everything try to be more rational. Criticize where needed but also praise where deserved.
Only when consumer spends judiciously ,in purchasing goods that nourishes the well-being of his or her family , savings for future instead of in liquor , cigarettes etc etc , economy will improve
@@DV-lh2ov The same guy in a 2012 article in HT wrote that rising rapes in India was due to poor people watching young couples engaging in public display of affection.. which is what khap panchayats said, although in a crude manner.. as if saying it in a polished, well articulated English makes you an expert !!
Don’t understand why these kind of questions to drag this Nobel laureate into political sphere were necessary. These could have been pushed to later part and first his work could have been discussed and how can India be benefit from his work .
Nobel prize to Piyush goyel dena chaiye tha gravity discover keliye Ravi Shankar prasad for new formula to determine India economy by films collect Modi for extra 2ab in the algebra formula
It is good when the rich who consume more than what is needed. Not when the poor don't have money to consume even a bare minimum to ensure a quality life.
"Prime minister of India"..not our prime minister or prime minister Narender Modi, or Modi Govt as adressed by Abhijit.....he is mildly fond of Indian Prime Minister.
Don't know why Abhijit came on ndtv and not in arnab cowswamy...sudhur tihadi...or even Deepak cowrasia..well don't matter he's speaking English only but...I am just saying....why even hillary Clinton came on same channel and not the TRP oriented modia channels
Yep. "Average consumption is lower"...therefore economy is in crisis!! Hence we need to be worried, and as a common Indian i am guilty of not consuming enough.
How can some one say BJP is not working on economic improvement as there is a global crisis, they are working it is not like that some one who got Nobel prize so govt need to work with him, there are somany other economic experts in India with them govt working on the economic they may not got Nobel prize but they are also more expert than this guy .
After marrying the one of the richest man daughter, who made big donation to Nobel committee employment got Nobel. Dr Younis got it after bribing Bill Clinton to pay cost of campaign for office, when he was not citizen of US, smell bad. Abhijitvnot sure but couple got it itself is suspicious. This trio claims to specialist on poverty but doesn't any thing for their people origin. Probably it Potter easier to fool than contribute. Piece and economics are not reliable like science. Money and influence can do miracle. 3 Bengali noble selling property for glamor. I chance meeting Milton Friedman, not impressed. I met Dr Younis, not all impressed. I thought he is too crude for the honor.. I met Amarta sen and his daughter. He is impressive but met much more sophisticated than who are nobody by most people account, may be because not great sales man. Though I lived in Massachusetts and was on the campus many times during his tenure but could swear that I ran into him. Dr Yiunis proegee Iqbal quader is a bigtime fraud.
