Best sledge I ever heard came from a wicket keeper to his own fielder. The fielder was at cover, when the batsmen went for a very quick single. Running in from cover with a slight opportunity to run either batsmen out with a quick pick up and accurate throw he got it completely wrong. Not knowing which end to throw at, he miss fielded the ball and when he did pick it up he went to throw to the wicket keeper but the ball fell out of his hand. All the wicket keeper could say was. "How can anyone with half a brain be in two minds at once"? Needless to say it was a few minutes before the laughing stopped and play restarted
Sending lots and love and support from India. I used to play cricket at district level in my U-17 days and later in my university days. Met an accident and tore my ACL. Became a sports administrator with the Government of India and gradually lost my touch with cricket. Though I watch cricket on television but seldom go to ground. Watching your videos makes me feel like I'm batting. I look at the ball as it is coming towards the screen, I see where it's pitching and i try to play it in my head. That's what this POV has done to me. I feel confident enough to pad up again. And try all these shots which I've been playing in my mind again and again. Ordered myself an auto bowling machine..I'll install it in backyard and will try all these shots. Might even hit the ground. Helmet cam is going to revolutionize the way we watch and perceive cricket. There's something about this which involves you more. Thanks for the initiative. You're doing a great service to the game of cricket. Good luck
Friendly sledging..When i was playing we had some nasty wicket keepers giving us constant grief, saying that we gave it back when we were fielding plus we were the best team in our league for many years.
Maaaan that is one beautiful cricket pitch and ground! A great innings by both of you by the way. Thanks for this cool video, subscribing for more! Miss the ole weekend cricket with me mates.
I've been getting increasingly into cricket lately and your videos have been really entertaining! Don't know much about the sport, I mostly follow baseball in the states, but that season is over I thought I'd check out cricket. Great work! Thanks for the vidoes!
As a bowler who could only block, this brings back the memories of being surrounded by 11 players & wondering where the hell can I get a run from! I only ever got sledged when the opposition told me to hurry up and get out so they could hit the piss! Great batting mate (love those straight hits) & unique footage.
Yes, i can feel how is it like when sledged to the bottom of your nerves, the feilding team does that for fun but after seeing this its a bit more than fun😂
Great batting pal..you picked those gaps beautifully and kept your cool when you were being sledged.. Fairplay the guy did appreciate you in the end..That's wonderful to watch..Love your content buddy..👍🏻
Just tell him to look at the scoreboard. The trash he was throwing down was shocking. I love it when bowlers start chirping suddenly just means you have beaten them already. Good knock that Gareth.
Great batting there. Very patient and disciplined. Got settled at the start and then the runs started coming with good running between wickets and the odd boundary.
Different sport, but I remember a comment made when I played a blinder in goal in a university semi-final football match. Their captain, a huge rough-hewn fella, came over to me at the end of the game, put his arm around my shoulder and said 'I'm goona fookin' find out where you live and shit through your letterbox.' It's a compliment I treasure to this day!
@@canyoucricket Thank you very much! I was a bit shocked at the time as I thought he was going to congratulate me on my performance. Like your sledging though it was far too late to have an impact.
That chat from those lads was awful, purely out of spite and not funny at all. Well played mate, that keeper didn't deserve the satisfaction of a stumping.
Enjoyed watching this. Congratulations on the 50 and the win. Would have loved to have a bowl at you back in my playing days just to see how it would have turned out - proper shots being played!
@@blakey70 No mate, too old now and was a tail ender/opening bowler until my mid 30's, 56 now so pretty cooked, Made a 30 odd in the seconds last year but haven't made a 50 since about 2005. I have made about 15 half centuries but never tonned up which I regret.
All good natured really. Been sledged like that for real many times when opening in league games. In truth this was a very tepid village attack and you dealt with it in an appropriate fashion - well done.
nice tonk to get ya fifty, gret content glad to be a new sub,all the boys at work are all ex cricketers so ill show em your channel and get em on deck ,greetings from all of us down under in fkn lockdown
I don't mind a bit of chatter now and again but sometimes it is extremely annoying. Worst I had it when a team was on top and they were all getting cocky. They were sledging right up till the bowlers arm was coming round. Got out for a duck.
Best sledge return ever; When Ian Healy threw a tantrum at Mike Atherton, for refusing to walk, after Healy had done the same refusal, the match before..... _"Why didn't you walk you Pommie bastard?"_ _"When in Rome...."_
love your videos, cant wait till my first game of the season on saturday. not sure why others in the comments are being so negative. p.s hope you let that young lad that opened with you know how good that sweep for 6 looked
I had a suggestion for you next game, could you ask the umpire to have the gopro on him so we can have a look at a front on view of yourself batting. To be honest even the non striker would be fine as you open but umpire is the better option.
good bowling, and you very well managed..kept your cool and did not miss any chance as and when there is one...bring out your pull shots,,show those bouncers the boundary line...i remember me sending those bouncers to sixes within firt two three opening overs itself! I am the opener for our University! nice time pass, and bringing my memories back! Thank you. nice idea, actually!
Never let sledging get to your head mate. Sledging is a classic tactic played by the opposition team to make you loose your nerves and make a mistake while you're Batting. I know you're made of sterner stuff and any amount of sledging won't affect your game. Cheers! 😃
Was batting and hit a 4. The keeper yelled out some encouragement to the bowler then I chirped up and said "means alot coming from your own teammate". Everyone on the field laughed lol. Had to be there moment.
Having played premier league cricket a few years ago that was nothing as a send off compared to what I had said to me and heard. Tough to start at that level, bound to get a few low ones, kick on!
I will always remember a game I played at premier league level, waay above my standard but our 1s were in the top division that year and were short. Team we were playing (top of league) were notorious sledgers and had a demon pace bowler who was probably the worst of the lot. Our team was mainly young lads who many were a bit afraid of facing him so I ended up going in at 3. So after the usual jip from their gobs, first ball came, smashed it back over his head into the car park. I knew I wasnt going to last long, just wanted to make a statement. 3rd over came he resorted to bouncing balls, one of them ended up in a nearby field. Another full and wide ball, another swing and that one went over his head for six more. 5th over, couple of wide ones I swang and missed, then he bowled a straight one and rearranged my timbers. Not giving him a chance for a verbal send off, I straight away looked at him and said 'thats not fair, you are not allowed to bowl straight to 3rd teamers', letting him know he had just been carted for 3 sixes by a third teamer, Needless to say, he was pretty quiet after that.......
Thanks. Keep practicing your batting and if you're young make sure you get your technique as solid as possible. Then the runs will flow as your mind settles..
I am a bowler who always struggled with the bat. I remember a game where I turned up 1/2 hour late and was greeted with "Pad up". I was going in at 9 and when I went out their opening bowler was still going and he was the one that took out our top order. Back story on my batting issues was that I was afraid of the ball and my first movement was back foot away from ball with front foot maybe following. Keeper turned to me after some chip shots off of middle (don't know how I was doing it) for runs and said "You are crap at batting", to which I replied "I know, but how bad is your bowler.... Can't even get me out!". I now have a reputation that when I go out the keepers don't want to talk to me anymore hahahaha. I use it to shut off between balls.
Very enjoyable watching these GoPro batting videos. Takes me back to my playing days. Had some pretty hostile sledging from a medium fast bowler who decided to call me a "F***ing **** and f***ing w*****r" after every ball he bowled me. Wasn't very nice. Perhaps I should have laughed like you did in the video but he would have ratcheted up more with "You laughing at me you ****!" I threw my wicket away trying to smash him out of the ground but before he got me I enjoyed chipping the ball between fielders for a few overs. Keep up the good work. Cheers M
nothing to harsh haha. Playing in Australia, you'll walk out to the middle and before you've even faced a ball someone will ask you if you're lost. gotta love cricket
Those first six or seven balls is every innings of mine. Survive and then fluke a four and think “this isn’t too hard today”. Two balls later…kaboom….bowled. Still come back next Saturday 😂
I can only remember one sledging incident that really got to me.....Im a total casual player and we play in a friendly league...i never bowl because im awful at it but one match i had to because we were a bare bones team. I'll never forget bowling 4 wides in a row and our captain saying "come on scotty too hotty" (my surname is scott)....the batsman said "more like scotty too shitty"....sticks with me to this day....not sure why it cut me deep man!!
As someone who has never played 'proper' cricket, this is brilliant.. the on drive @6:40 (correct terminology?) is probably my favourite shot, it bisected the fieldsmen perfectly..
@@canyoucricket Ah yes sorry, 'on' is the leg side..the other thing that I liked was your simple but decisive calling to your batting partner. Really illuminating. One question, do you have to ask permission from the umpire to use the Go-pro camera?
Hey There , Just Wanted To Know Where These Matches Are Going On Um Coming From Pakistan To England In Some Months Soo i Really Need To Know , Can i Contact You ?
How often do you get to play on a pitch like this? My squad has to travel to another club to play on a proper wicket. The A Grade boys get to play on our proper turf wicket, my C Grade team get to play on the local primary school oval. That 'pitch' is concrete with synthetic mats laid down on top of it lol (not to mention the outfield is covered with THICK, DENSE grass so on all other grounds where a shot would be 4 runs... youre lucky to get 2!)
@@canyoucricket Damn! I wish we had such luck! Maybe we will this season (a couple clubs in our association have shifted around a little amongst the divisions, we have a couple from the higher div dropping down). I'm mad excited to get going in little more than a month! I've been training my ass off all year since the season ended and I'm ready to smash some runs and spin some stumps :)
