@@raghuvanshluthra317 If it’s not done properly, you might find some air bubbles appear and sometimes the wrap can start to peal on edges and corners. Apart from that, nothing too major.
I got one of those drawers and the other one was a storage unit. Wrapped alcantara inside of them for a soft touch to em. They have good space and look dope too.
Bro you GOTTA have the subtitles go all the way through the short. Especially if you’re gonna say a word like LAGKAPTEN. That took like 20 minutes of guessing
Clean setup. But go with the Karlby countertop instead (solid wood - no particle fillings - **EDIT: Has particle fillings but laid out in a different pattern) - it'll help against sagging. I have had 3 CRTs on the 98x1 1/2 for the past 2.6 years, so far so good.
The karlby is particle board like most mass produced desk tops. What its not is a honey comb filling, like the linnmon, which is basically cardboard with air gaps..
I just bought my IKEA desk yesterday and built it. The construction was honestly so dang easy and therapeutic. It gives a super clean and simple look which would certainly appeal to all minimalists. I got the Lagkapten alex desk with just one alex drawer unit but it's still the bomb. Def recommend Edit: The instructions are insanely useless so make sure to follow a video. Believe me the instructions won't do you any good.
I use this exact desk but the top was black and I found a desk with only 3 legs so me and my dad took off the other leg where the mising was one was used the one of the drawers to hold it up and it fits perfectly.
instead of getting a low quality cardboard desk like a linmonn or a lagkapten, instead you should get a tabletop/countertop like a ekbacken, or an idasen if you have the space.
The top has holes in it and screws come with the alex drawers to attach the drawers top to the desktop. BuT its important to remember that if you are attaching a desktop to your drawers you need to build your drawers with thw board with holes in it at the top and not bottom (the instructions say bottom)
I got the 2 metre long one so i also bought a leg to put in the middle, one year later and no bending (i have a monitor and peripherals and a printer and LOADS of rock statues)
@@X_IZON you can, but it depends on what countertop you're using. Since the one in the video could bend super easily with a lot of pressure on one part of the desk
I got the 2 metre by 60 centimetres table top and replaced the drawers on one side with a cabinet from ikea, im an architecture student so i needed a big desk on a tight budget. LET ME TELL Y ALL THIS IS THE BEST DESK YOU CAN GET FOR YOUR BUCK!!!! Its cheap, very resilient (i rearrange my bedroom furniture every 6 months or once a year (professional quirk i guess lol) , lots of storage and very customisable since you have loads of top colors to choose from as well as drawer/cabinets color(you can be funky with ikea and maybe even mix with some other model of drawers/cabinets).
@xjustnima9018 if you've built anything from ikea, you'll essentially know how the process is. It's not hard, but it does take a bit of time and patience, the instructions are very good and easy to follow though
When I made this video I had just used the weight of everything on the desk to keep it from moving much, but the smarter thing to do is to use either double-sided adhesive or velcro (which I used on my new desk)
@@PeytonToenjes thanks ! Girlfriend bought for her setup and I just did the weight but it slides ever so slightly if you push it. Will be doing that ! Thank you !
@brookyblade4456 thank you! It's just a pretty low-end dell optiplex, I've upgraded the whole setup, including a new pc since then, but that dell optiplex served me well 🫡
Guys I prefer getting a countertop instead, much much more thicker and won’t start bending from all the heavy heavy stuff most of all would be using for the gaming desk
Had this table for about 2 years and it’s now coming apart, like the honeycomb material is starting to lose it’s strength and dents in the table are now noticeable but it was good while it lasted.
I just want a desk that is strong and won't bend down, my current desk is bending down so much, Every desk on amazon looks so cheap. I just want one that looks like the ikea desk but is much stronger
Ikea actually does sell black Alex drawers, although they're called "Black-brown," so they're not SUPER dark black, but I'm sure they're good enough! They also make the same colored Linmon tabletop that matches!
@ariz4888 In the video, i hadn't done anything to connect them, so the table kinda slid, but under the weight of what's on the desk, it was alright. You can screw them together though cause there are holes, but I recommend just using velcro strips or something of the sort cause it easier to undo if you need to take the desk apart!
@@PeytonToenjes Alright! Are you able to make a video of how to screw it in please. I feel like it would be my permanent desk because i heard all of the good rumors about it. I will go to ikea next friday to check out the alex drawers and the table top before buying it
Consider buying a different table top from a different place. I had my ikea table top for about 1 year. The inside is full of cardboard and its very weak. All 4 sides started pealing and it completely ruined the looks.
I know I'm 2 months late to reply, but using velcro strips in between the alex drawers and your tabletop is your best bet if you haven't already figured it out :)
tbh the desk is rlly nice but the linmon desktop is not solid its like cardboard filling on the inside my monitor clamp made a whole in the desk and they fell threw lol
@Knighthollow1 very close to being more expensive, I got that pc for my birthday, then like a year later I upgraded my room so that I had a nice environment and since I didn't really have interest in playing games on my pc (partly because it couldn't run them) I just decided to save up for a really good pc after upgrading my room. Since this video, I built myself a nice pc and changed my setup completely, but back when I had that optiplex, I didn't mind it
And then total height is enough for normal use? Because I guess just putting tabletop on drawers ending to be a bit to short from bottom @@PeytonToenjes
