We got a rescue kitten of about 9 months old, and immediately, she would give us 'kisses'. If you lean in, she reaches her mouth towards yours and lets you kiss her. Sweetest thing ever! After a year, she still does it.
Both my kitties do the same thing! Though my male cat tries to actually go up into my nose! He presses so hard to push his face through my nose but he can't because my nose is too small! But both kitties know what it means when I give them kisses and they give me kisses right back!
@@wintermoon7003 Mine too! When I pet him, he will sometimes look up at me and I'll lower my head down and kind of touch our noses together. He will then rub his head against my face, purring like an engine the whole time.
I kiss my cat on the head and cheeks all the time. He's never seemed to mind. I think he knows I love him and he loves me too. I'm glad I have a sweet loving little guy.
@@boughtbot2639 Growing up, my two cats would like us in the family to nose kiss them. Just an easy light kiss and they liked that. Puff and Muffin were a Maincoon and Muffin, a Siamese with big blue eyes.
My cat craves kisses. He was the one to start asking for kisses. I let him come to me for kisses. But he isn't as wild about hugs. He comes to me for cuddles, which means he lays on my chest, and I stroke him briefly (don't want to over stimulate him) and give him kisses when he offers his cheek. He likes to sit there cheek to cheek with me. He is my emotional support animal, and I am his emotional support human.
Cats are pretty fickle about affection. You just have to know when they want it. One thing to remember is you don't own the cat, the cat owns you. The last cat I had who passed in 2015, wasn't a lapcat from 2000 (6 week old kitten) until 2011 after my mom got sick, and had to be hospitalized for a week, and when she came home, he was nothing but a lapcat, it's just that he would alternate between the two of us.
@@RachaelMorgan-om4xw he had a tumor in his right hind leg, that we just didn't have the money to get him treatment, so we did what we could to make him as comfortable as possible at home. Also my mom's health had started declining too. She had early dementia, and right at the begining of the "PANDEMIC", she had a stroke. I had to put her in a nursing home because things got really bad in her recovery, and I was ill equipped to take proper care of her, both physically, and financially, so I had no other choice to give up guardianship of her until she passed.
Christine, my cat does the same thing. He crawls onto my chest and rubs his face on mine. When I kiss him, he gently bites my nose. His version of a kiss. Then he plops down on my chest and wants to be held.
when he gets his mouth or rather nose close to you it means he wants to smell you, my kitten does this everytime i get back home and it's the cutest thing.
I give air kisses to my cat. She understands it is a sign of love and affection, even when I aim them at her from across the room. She recognizes the sound and will immediately give me a long slow blink in response.
Mine will do the same thing! She and my other one will both come over to me if I do make those kissy faces at them as well! And they purr and rub all over me! I LOVE it!
I've lived with cats for most of my life (I'm 75) but never kissed one, but at the last visit to the vet, he kissed our cat!!! This great big hairy arsed Aussie guy picked her up and gave her a big hug and a kiss!
My late 14 year old MaineCoon, Lucie, slept in my arms every night. Once she was comfy, she would lean back so I could kiss her forehead. Then I’d bow my head down and she would lick my forehead. In a very few minutes, she would purr herself to sleep and the purr would turn to a soft snore. That sound, I miss the most. 💔
My cat always enjoyed snuggles, kisses, and scratches. He purred, made biscuits, exposed his belly, rolled from side to side, and often meowed if I stopped.
My alien being loves to be held and sung to. She'll reach out and put her paw next to my mouth if I stop. She has almost opposable thumb paws and grabs my finger like a baby, too 🥺
An alternative to kisses is the nose bop, which is more of a greeting to cats, but can be a bridge between human kisses and cat greetings. My rescue of 7 months (7yo now) gave me the nose bop just the other day. I do kiss her head from time to time. It was slower to get to this point, she had a hard background, and took some time to relax into her forever home, and I gave her plenty of space in the beginning, letting her determine most of the cuddles etc. It really is about reading your cat, understanding their needs, past situation. We are a bonded human-cat pair now, we actually have been since the adoption, but she needed the time to know she was safe, and that it was forever.
My Ginger cat takes any affection but my Calico definitely prefers nose bops. Starts purring immediately after. She also has that face where when she stares at you, you don’t know if she’s telepathically begging for more food or plotting your demise 😂
@@mikethehunter5212 I assume the ginger is a male, they are such sooks and love sponges (I miss my tuxedo boy). The females, always a bit arm's length with the whole love thing. I could not do much, rescue picked me, she is in charge!
I'm sorry, but cats DO hug. They understand hugs quite well when presented as a form of affection instead of restraint. If my cat is cold and needs to be warmed after eating a big meal, it's understood that my hug isn't an attempt to make him regurgitate but a gentle form of affection when overlapping his tail with my arm and holding his tail between my body and my arm, it often causes him to purr with his head nestled against me, he loves to mark my glasses with his cheeks while he's in my arms. I can't see much afterwards but I get the message quite well, he reciprocates a hug quite nicely, thank you.
Yes, they do. I am noticing how much the color of the cat plays in determining their personalities. Have you ever known a tortie cat, and their tortitude? Make it a lilac one and you got yourself a live sassy wire.
Yes , animals have a different personality just like us . I have 12 cats and 3 dogs, everyone has a different personality, although some have similar personalities and others are completely different like day and night 🥳😻🥳😻 ......😇 and little 😈 ... but I love them equally 😁
When aliens discover earth and ask to speak to our leaders they’ll go “No no we mean the four legged felines you clean up after and serve. They have trained you well”
YES lol that’s why they were low key worshiped in ancient Egypt they saw us as good feeders and cuddlers and providers so they learned how to swoon us to still low key worship them and provide for them to this day lol I love cats/am excited to introduce my cats to aliens someday they really are our masters lmao
@UserKitling If cats had opposable thumbs they wouldn’t need humans at all anymore. We’d be sadly worse for it as then they’d likely succeed in their plan to take over the world.
@@kuraimaskorner3757 I dunno about not needing us. I think intelligent beings like cats have gotten so used to us cleaning up their poop they’d keep us around for that.
My Late wife and I used to kiss our Cats on the top of their head. Their reaction was to just put their paws up to our face without any claws. I will never forget them. They bought joy,(And worry when they were out) to our life. They used like gentle head buts as well. I hope that God blesses each and every one of them.
so true that cats that bond with their owners do adapt and figure out what human kisses mean and when cats figure it out they go wild for it with passion and do so with all the love they can muster to express to their beloved human companion but yes true that cats do see kisses as invasive and rude when they are not familiar to human interaction so meeting them half way will mean everything to a cat one is trying to bond with. :)
My kitty lets me kiss him on the side of his little mouth. (So cute that little kitty mouth! ) but only when he’s sleepy , already cozied in and half way to dream land. Then I can kiss and love him up 😽💕. The only time he allowed me to kiss him while awake was when I’d come home from a 3 night hospital stay ( the first -and only, time we’d ever been apart). Then he let me kiss him all over his face and let me carry him around which is not normally tolerated for longer than 7 seconds ) my guy is pretty smart. Comes when called. Every time. So grateful for him.
Both my girls have gotten kisses from me from day 1. They both seem to understand that it is a deeply loving intimate gesture from me to them, and I get unsolicited kisses often!
One of my cats kissed from the start and slept on my arm all night. My new little boy kisses and stands on his back legs and puts his paws around my neck, hugging? Yes I believe that. He sleeps with me too and even on chest .😊
I don't think you know cats that well. My cat kisses me all the time. I actually have to put my hand over my face and say no more kisses, that's enough.
My cat now gives me lip to lip kisses, especially when nuzzling up for cuddles. He definitely knows it's a loving gesture. It's adorable. All of my cats bow heads for kisses, too.
My cats definitely understands kisses as a sign of affection. Princess will headbump into them, and my boy Mattie will respond to "kiss kiss?" by presenting the top of his head for a kiss (sometimes). I find it helps them understand it as affection if you alternate kisses and cheek rubs( the way they do to scent-mark you). Unless they're super antsy, they pick up that it's our weird hooman way of showing love. 😺
I kiss my kitties all the time! The male is a lover boy and welcomes all affection. The female has slowly warmed up to kisses and hugs and no long tries to escape. :) They both sleep with me and usually right up against me. Cats are such sweet and fun animals to share your life with!
Cats will not understand a "kiss" as we do, because it's not something that is a part of their normal natural activities. However, cats are extremely intelligent. If you kiss them repeatedly, they'll eventually say to themselves "Hey wait a minute. i get it. This is my human's way of showing me love and affection. Therefore, i accept".
I can't let my nose get close to my cat's mouth. Though she's quite loving, she can't resist a mischievous lightning-fast nip. The first and only time, I felt her lower canines pierce inside my nostrils and when I saw blood, hied myself immediately to my doc's clinic for an antibiotic shot. She does like my lips on top of her head, and purrs at feeling warm breath at the bases of her ears. I think this reminds her of her mama's attentions when she was tiny. I think...🤔
My cat even sometimes purrs a little when I kiss her and stretches out her front paws after I kiss her and seems very relaxed. She seems to really enjoy it. She has never pulled away whenever I have kissed her. I think she understands what that gesture means and knows that it’s a sign of affection.
When my cats lick each other's heads, I say, "kiss kiss." My last cat would mash his entire nose and mouth on my face at times. If I said kiss kiss to him he would lick my face. I've been lucky about ending up with affectionate felines.
I don't have any cat but I pet sitting cats. One of them had good connection with me. When I want to kiss him, I would ask him first: kiss? Then he was thinking and deciding yes or no. If yes, he moved his head toward to me to let me kiss his head. If no, he would just walked away. But often were yes! For whatever reason, cats love me, even having a walk on the side walk, there is always a cat appear and run to me for a petting.
When I go to bed at night, as I walk past my cat, he stretches up his head and neck, squint his eyes, and scrunches up his face and lifts his paw up to grab my hand as I lean down and give him smooches.
Ten years ago, my 7 year old son and i wanted to adopt a little Kitten. At the Animal Shelter my son was instantly falling in love with a approx 1-2 year old black Feline and wanna to take this Cat. The shelter assistent told me, okay we seperate the Cat with it sibling and we could take her in. I ask what he meant and he showed me the sibling, a black male. I couldn't allow to seperate them and we took them both. The Feline fit in our home easy but the Male not really. It took us about 6 month until he was ready to let us near. It was a vital lesson for my son but he learned that he has to wait for the Cat making the first step...today the two are now almost 12 year old but both are healthy, playfull. Cats are so special but once they love you they will never let you down❤❤
Most loving Cat owners might disagree that their Cats love kisses, but not all Cats are the same and I love how this video will help new owners who might be unsure of how to look after and show respect for their furry new baby. Thank you! ❤🎉
I agree with the video but ive had TWO cats who, when I said the word "kiss" they would come up to me, press their nose against mine and run away. TWO. I cant explain it but I got to accept that as a cat kiss and that was fine. But when I went in for a kiss, yes, cats saw that as intruding in their space. Thats the best lesson about cats, let them do things on their own terms and time.
My angel started to give me her kisses first, and I get them all of the time. I know that she loves ❤️ them. I'm mommy and I am truly the love of her life 💓 and she's mine. So that's not completely true with all felines 😊 But thanks for the insights.
We have had our rescue cat since 2012, plenty of time to get to know him. It took him half an hour to settle in, slept with us from night one, still does. If he is relaxed, he likes a kiss on the top of the head, not in his face, also loves a chin chuck on request. The art is in knowing when he has had enough, he decides when petting has to stop. Still cuddles close at night, wakes us at 0530 for food. He snuggles under the throw for warmth, we have to take care not to sit on him when we go to bed. I don't sleep properly until husband and cat join me, we form a mammalian heap of cuddle, especially lovely when it is cold.
My late Mary used to love kisses, never forced them on her but she gave them free (if you wanted to or not). If she had the chance she would keep going and even try the Frenchie. Gosh I miss her lovely kisses...
I have 2 female Snowshoe Siamese and they love kisses and when they kiss, they want to kiss on the face, usually on the lips. Don't try to turn your head, because they will use their "knives of death" to hold your face in place. They are twins, so if you escape from one, the other will get you. 😂
I accidentally trained my parents cat to accept kisses as a kid. I would make kissy noises before kissing her head between the ears and after a little while when I'd make the kissy noise she would come closer and press her forehead to my mouth. Moved out of my parents house almost 6 years ago and when I was home recently for dads birthday I was giving her love and made the noise and bam, soft headbutt to my mouth 😂❤
My cat still doesn't like being hugged. He will slow blink with me..He asks to have his tummy rubbed several times a day .My cat didn't know what to think of a kiss at first, but he loves getting kisses on his little head and cheeks now! 👍❤️👍
My cat is a rescue Kitten from the street. She and her sister slept on me from the very first night on. Both had the flue, just one made it with intense care and many visits to the vet. So we were very close from the beginning. She taught me a lot (like long blinks) and have the feeling she really knows me, after 11 years. Kissing wouldn't happen out of the blue (for her) but just in very intense cuddling.
My cat loves to cuddle. When I get home and sit down, he comes right over and sits on my lap purring up a storm. I give him lots of pets and we often boop our noses together and I give him a couple of slow, happy kisses. I love those interactions. He gets quite sassy when it is feeding time though, and I know how to read his body language and not try and kiss him when he is hungry, lol
I did some research into why the Ragdoll breed was named that. It says, they go limp like a ragdoll when you pick them up. LOL!!! I have a four-year-old Ragdoll. She's the love of my life, and I've had her since she was a little bitty kitten. But she won't go limp like a ragdoll. In fact, if you try to pick her up, you'd better have a first-aid kit handy. But I kiss her on the top of the head all the time. She smiles back. She knows how much I love her.
My cat and I kiss all the time. I've two, one of them is a CAT cat, but my kissy kitty is different and he purrs when I kiss him. He's always following me around, exposes his belly to be caressed, etc.
I have two cats I got from a rescue organization when they were 4 months old. The boy is more outgoing, assertive, cuddly and just a playful ham. His sister was more shy, or rather, observant and cautious, yet incredibly playful and curious. Because of her desire to stay away, I approached her more carefully because I wanted her to feel safe. I observed her as much as she observed my family of 4 and treated her as she seemed she wished to be treated. With regards to affection, I noticed that she would become rigid when picked up and never purred in my arms so I never picked her up, and if I did it was for very brief moments. Still, she would let me pet her if I approached her slowly and quietly let her know I was coming. She hates loud noises. So I responded to whatever she tolerated. I noticed that she would try to bury her food after eating and I learned that it's an instinctual form of hiding one's food to save it for later. Since her brother was assertive, I made sure to separate their bowls and pick up her food and at times redirect her brother back to his food. I think these two things alone helped her learn to trust me. Within 2-4 months we had a pretty good bond that, now at nearly two years continues to develop and deepen. Recently, I've observed her with how she observes the snuggly kissy affection I give her brother. He just loves kisses, massages and squishy cuddles. I didn't start with kisses though. I started with using my nose to mimic the sweeping licking gestures they would give eachother. Then I gave him kisses when he got comfortable with that. Now as soon as I mention kisses he starts begging for it, purring and rolling around. His sister saw this so I decided to test her receptivity and do a softer, slower modified version of this. I don't hold her or make it so that she can't move, she can always move away at any time. I just started with nuzzling and if she didn't like it she'd moved on. If she liked the one kiss I would continue but stop fairly soon to prevent overwhelm. Just yesterday she wanted my attention while I was working and I absent-mindedly petted her side. Within moments she was licking my hand from fingers to forearm. I thought it was the sweetest gesture. 🥰 A side note, I recently started using talking buttons and our ability to connect and communicate has grown. I always feel special when she looks for me. Especially so when, at 2 AM, she pushed the buttons "want cuddles." Just adorable. 🥹 Tldr, as this video suggests, I totally agree that it's helpful to let them set the pace for your connection. Your relationship with your cat can become incredibly deep if you give it time and "listen" to what they're trying to tell you through their body language. ❤
I have three grey cats living in my house and I give them a kiss in the morning and say good morning and I give them a kiss in the evening and say good night. No problems so far but I understand where you are coming from.
My cat licks my lips and she loves to have me sniff her neck and she sniffs the inside of my ears and tickles my ears with her whiskers , she's so silly ! ❤
My cat kisses me all of the time 😂 I mean she does it in her own way - by violently ramming her nose into my face, but it is done with with a tonne of affection. And she loves getting kisses back too
My cat gives me kisses. I usually kiss him on the top of the head...he loves it. He will kiss me back. I dip my head , and he nibbles the top of my head. It melts my heart every time. :
My boy Sunny swishes his tail like a mad thing when he's content & happy. I do know that the swishing tail thing is generally a cat warning sign. These cat friends of ours are all quite unique. There's great pleasue in getting to know your cat - which I'm sure you all know!😻😻
oh wow, i kiss them and they kiss me back, i've had cats all of my life, currently 5 at home and 3 at my workplace, and many strays, some of them love to be kissed because they come and ask for it! same with dogs, i have dogs, too, but esp. the street dogs i take care of, they loooove to be kissed.❤
I'm really sorry to hear about Midnight. It sounds like she had her sweet way of making sure you knew she wanted some love and attention, pawing at your leg and face. Those little gestures are the ones that stick with us, aren't they? I hope you find comfort in remembering all the special moments you shared with Midnight. 🐾💔
my flamepoint siamese cat use to give kisses. i've probably said this in the comments to another video from this channel, but Jimi would always come right up to me if I said "Jimi, kiss kiss?" and very enthusiastically, sometimes with quite a bit of force, he'd come right up to me and touch his nose to my nose. I got him as a 3 week old kitten and he was with us for 14 yrs, idk when exactly we started that but I remember he was still small.
I say "gis a kiss" and then pucker up - giving my cat the option! He rarely ignores that and is more than willing - then waits for me to blow raspberries into his fur a few times (particularly on his head between the ears lol) 🤗❤🤗
I have always had cats. All of them great me and touch their noses to my nose. I never bother them unless they come to me. I know when they are asking for something, cats communicate by voice and action. I say "show me" and follow them to the door, food area, give them attention and brush them. Very smart animals. I also keep snakes. They do not hurt the snakes and the snake do not hurt them. Some of my kitties have groomed me and gently put their paw on my face to show affection. No kisses from me, but cuddles, grooming and good care. Very familiar with the Slow Blink when my cat is with me. Only one cat now, he is 17, loves attention and he is sitting on my chair in back of me now. He is purring with content.
My cat loves kisses, but she didn't in the beginning, when I first tried. She used to run when I kissed her; I figured she thought I was gonna bite her, because that's what they do. With time she has come to learn what a kiss is, and now she leans into them and purrs.
That's so heartwarming! 😻 IYour patience and gentle approach clearly made all the difference, turning what was once a scary gesture into a sign of affection and trust.
I mimic head buts with my cat, In fact over time I have gotten him to give me a head but on the face or forehead by saying the phrase "CAT KISS". He knows about 4 words well. He sleeps next to me at night and expects me to have my arm around him.
I kissed all our cats 50+ times a day, they all loved it when I kissed their faces or head, or put their ears between my lips haha(obv their ears are clean, just the outside of the ear, not licking the ear just showing affection. I don't kiss their mouth though. Not kissing a random animal in the wild though, I don't want to die from a feline disease. Trust me, the cats love kisses. It's like a kid, you have to show affection. This now adult cat, LOVES to rub it's scent on me after kisses, but I am the only one who gives them kisses so. This is good info, I learned more. It seems like cats are like introverts in a lot of respects but not all.
It sounds like your cat was a real sweetheart, always ready for some love and affection! 😊 It's beautiful that she recognized and sought out kisses-what a special bond you must have shared. Thank you for sharing such a touching memory of your beloved cat. 🐾💕
I give my hugs and kisses at the same time of day. I have one cat and two dogs and all three of them lineup. When I leave for the day, I give hugs kisses, and a treat. At the end of the day everyone comes to the bedroom, I usually carry the dogs like babies. My kitty is not a fan of being carried but now, after realizing that is the routine she calms down in this also carried to the bedroom when it is time for bed, I crate the dogs with lots of hugs and kisses. And kitty sits at the door for me to pick her up. Give her a nice hug and a kiss before I open the door and she leaves. If I open the door first, she will sit there for her hug and kiss. Then when she goes out to the kitchen, she will find an interactive toy with treats inside usually a little kibble and some CBD treats. Pretty sweet I’ve gotten my cat trained for her hugs and kisses. I also trained her to use the toilet yay.
We have four cats, and I kiss them all on the top of the head; kind of like blessing them. While three don't show much emotion or movement one way or the other, our rescue, who just now hopped onto my lap, actually lowers his head slightly, as if gracefully anticipating my blessing. He has slept on my neck since he was 2-3 weeks old. He now sleeps by my side since he is a lean 15+ lbs. This cat also uses his paws like no cat I've ever seen before. On the flip side, he is a pistol.
We have to remember they communicate with their body and actions. They only meow to their human owners. I notice indoor cats like to move to a new favorite spot every few weeks. Hissing means just leave me alone its not a challenge unless theyre scared. Some places on cats a ticklish so they lightly bite to get you to stop. Anyone have any other cat language?
If my tortie is on the counter, I'll put my head near her and she will nudge my head and let me give her kisses. Her sister loves hugs and kisses but I've also been around them since they were about 3 weeks and I found them in my shed outside. I interacted with all 6 of them every single day after finding them. Feeding and handling them 😊
That's absolutely adorable! 😊 It's heartwarming to hear how they each show their affection in their unique ways, with head nudges for kisses and a love for hugs. Thanks for sharing this lovely story with us!
My late Russian blue loved kisses all the time. I said" I know, you want 40 kisses right on your fotehead!" He loved kisses every night. He had them from kittenhood, and passed a few weeks shy of his 20th borthday.
