This is a tricky subject because I'm not going to tell anyone how to spend their money. now with that said. I hate counterfeits and here's why. When I used to work retail customers would return say a benchmade and get their refund now the knife goes back in inventory and may even get discounted. Now a new customer buys it and decides to send it in for sharpening only to discover it's not a real benchmade and that sucks.

I love this discussion. I have 55 knives. 6 are eafengrow. some are DIRECT theft of other knife designs and I don't like it and it makes me feel dirty. some of them are rip offs of knives that are no longer in production. EVERY single one of them is perfect. Zero blade play, dead centered, flippers flip fast and hard, I can't fail them even if I try to. I can't say that about my benchmades, Spyderco's, microtech's, or medford's. (I can say that about my protech"s and sebenza). the steels and other materials are typically not as "good", so they may not hold their edge as long as "super steels", (although I'm not really sure about that one) every one of them came arm hair shaving sharp and every one of them is Super easy to sharpen. I love America and wish it wasn't the case that American companies have to deal with welfare communism products flooding the country. yep, it's not fair. I smoke, but I would vote to outlaw cigarettes. my ketchup and mayonnaise come from Chinese owned companies. a substantial number of the parts on my Harley come from china. if I could vote against that kind of thing I would, even if it cost me more money. btw, in my humble opinion, the Kershaw bel air is a direct rip off of the Benchmade bug out. so, there's that, and there are many, many examples of that kind of thing. I've never bought a clone knife so that I could walk around and pretend that I had "the real thing". I have lots of the "real things". take the artificially low cost and the theft of design arguments off the table for just a moment and what I'm left with is the experience that eafengrow knives are made EXTREMELY well. btw, my spelling of eafengrow is the correct one.🙄

I got the strider clone and its really well made for the price. I have a few reasons for picking it up: 1. Mick strider doesn’t make knives any more. Buying on the second hand market would only take money out of a scalper’s pockets. 2. I don’t have the money for a real strider. My most expensive knife is $200. 3. I would not use such an expensive knife without worrying about damage. 4. I’m a lefty and striders don’t come with a lefty clip. I got 3 other eafengrow knives. I thought they were cool and cheap enough to gamble on, but I haven’t carried any of them and I’ll probably give them as gifts. I’m keeping the strider clone though.

One thing about knives and companies is this....knives have been made for centuries and there always will be making what they think is "their" kniife....there will always be someone out there that wants to make a quick buck off everyone....that been said if you see something or know someone that designed and made a knife and want to support the real maker, support that maker! Everyone knows that know and that's all that matters! Support the Real ones always!

I bought a couple Eafengrow knives before I knew anything about them. Some guy at a local show was selling some and my son liked the design of a couple so I grabbed them. They are fine knives but I wouldn't give them my money now that I know how they "design" knives. I hold clones above straight counterfeits but still don't want to support the practice

I'm broke so I like Eafengrow knives especially their fixed blades, probably the best bang for your buck knives right now. As long as it's not a counterfeit I'm ok with it, but that's just me.

They are known for some of their clones like the strider clone. But they also make other great designs. Its a shame they do copies also.

They aren't the only company to do this. Ganzo used to do this too, but they eventually started doing their own in house designs. I can respect the fact they are at least trying to move away from their clones and do better. Eafengrow just blatantly copies other makers popular designs, and they just don't give a shit. As long as people keep buying them, they will keep stealing others designs.. They are good quality knives unfortunately, but it still is just theft no matter how you look at it. It's dirty scummy and outright shitbaggery.

I'm not a fan of clones/counterfeits of knives (or any other item for that matter). When I buy a knife, I tend to avoid Amazon, Teemu, ebay, and a handful of other sites. If you want to buy a clone, that is your business. I admittedly hate to see knife content creators who buy clones to "check it out" or compare it to the original. The key to eliminate clones are to not buy them but that isnt realistic in this day in age.

Tell eafangrow that you will design a knife for them and to give you the rights to it imagine it blows up and gets cloned and sold on temu you know you made an awesome knife

They dont want to pay a designer to design something. They dont have to steal someone's design language. But they know they can make more money by stealing what's popular. Its not okay.
