Jules, you utter genius, I have been searching for the title for ages and here it is. Had an Xbox for all of 3 months, a lovely birthday present from a creepy uncle, but Darkwatch was there, and what a friggin blast it was. I just could never explain it, had the same issue for awhile with a PS2 game called Ephemeral Fantasia.
1 point - Call of Cthulhu. I spent hours trying to figure out what was next with a friend of mine only to never reach the end. But it lives rent free in my head to this day
Same here. That's the only one I've played. Used to play a decent amount of it with some friends, mainly because we wanted to play anything that was similar to Power Stone.
I won't claim I had a huge friendship group as a kid, maybe a dozen of us? But not one of us had an xbox. Virtually a 50/50 split of PS2s and Gamecubes.
Nobody ever talks about Beatdown Fist Of Vengeance, that's one of the most unique games I played on the Xbox, it had a lot of cool ideas and I think deserves a remake.
Yeah, I only got one (Darkwatch). I got one of my own- WHACKED! A trivia game show crossed with 3D free-for-all deathmatches, with crass, sterotyped characters. Delightfully bizarre and dumb... well, until it gets stale after a few playthroughs; then multiplayer is the only thing it has to offer.
I think I managed to get 4 points out of that, tho had seen a few more. Hazards of working for Blockbuster at the time. I got free game rentals, and as the only gamer on the staff, they kinda asked me to play as many of the games they had in stock as could so that I could give appropriate feedback to the parents bringing in their kids.
I just had a fun idea. You should cover some obscure arcade cabinets. I know they’re not a big deal anymore, but the arcades were huge when I was a kid. A lot of the arcade versions were the definitive version of the game, since the console hardware wasn’t powerful enough to run the full game.
3... Kung Fu Chaos, Blackstone (as I got it because I was playing the overhead dungeon crawlers a lot back then), Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (this game is like an actual Lovecraft story... it get's stuck in your head... and the veiled racism)
1 - Darkwatch. Still have it. Great game. Can be good or evil like Bioshock with harvesting people. The movie Priest (with Karl Urban) reminded me so much of this game. Only because he was basically a vampire cowboy.
Not having "Deathrow" on this list is a travesty! Hours of enjoyment is what my brothers and friends had with this game. I only wish it had been picked up and expanded on in the following years (decades)!
I'll give myself 1. Plus a bonus for Hogs of War, loved that game as a kid. Heard of some of the others but never played them. I will also tell you a game that used a boomerang effectively, but it was still a bit obscure, is Tomba 2. Can't remember if the first game had boomerangs but since it's been remastered on pc recently and the second on the way soon will get another generation of players as well as us old heads back into it. Another suggestion for one game that should have been on this list were any of the Kingdom Under Fire games. Had 2 of them but only one worked considering the second one I got used was too scratched up to get past the first mission of the story.
Kung Fu Chaos......yaaaaaaaaa.....it was fun but ooooof, times were different, but its nice to know for the most part we have grown a little more self aware.
0 for me as I've never played an X-box of any kind. Then again, I was phasing over to PC gaming around the end of the PS2's run anyway. OH...and you've finally earned a sub from me. Don't let me down.
Jules, you magnificent rad egg, I thought you were going to put more exclusives from the xbox, but having Breakdown it's a lot, cuz that game is not easy to find on the net, but indeed it is a rough diamond. I was hoping you'd put Sphinx, even tho it's not the best game, it still has some cool mechanics and it's fun to play
I only got 2 points: Darkwatch and Call of Cthulhu, and it seems like I should be glad I barely got a cut, because it looks like if I had gotten a deeper cut it would had gotten super infected like I may had lost an arm or something.
So for my score, technically 1, Call of Cthulhu Dark Coners of the Earth. Though I played it on Steam and not Xbox. Though I feel I should get a bonus point for one of my first 2 games on Xbox being Tao Feng - Fist of the Lotus. The other was Soulclibur 2, lol.
My final score was 0 but that's not too say I don't remember a lot of these games. I actually switched to the Xbox from the PS2 because I was desperate to play Deus Ex Invisible War. Yeah IW didn't turn out so good but it introduced me to The Kidney Thieves so I'll never hold a grudge against it. Would you ever do a Deep Cut on the Super Nintendo? Let's really go back.
Definitely a few goodies in there. 4/10 for me. Ngl, when I heard Kung fu chaos I immediately said, I loved that game. Didn't realize how bad it was at the time.(I was young)🤷♂️😆
I heard a joke about a guy who ordered a boomerang from Amazon only to continue returning it when it arrived. Allegedly been doing this for 3 years now
