Nine baby swans follow Mum and Dad for their first swim at Brentford Lock. But the tenth - newly-born - is too weak. Will he ever see his family again? NOTE: All the cygnets perished a few weeks later. • Baby Swans Tragedy: Ei...
Thank you for documenting this period in the family's life, and for sharing it here. At least the 10th cygnet was able to be soothed and find warmth and companionship after the return of the family to their nest. Very sad to learn that this beatiful family was tragically impacted later. 😢
If his chances are zip or 90% that it’s not gonna make it, in some cases certainly scoop up a vulnerable youngster like this and bring it to a rehab facility
Encase you didn't see the other video's, I have very sad news. The little one in the nest didn't make it. It's death is unknown. Sadly the parents also lost the remaining 9 chicks to flood water. 2 days later a pair of Geese hatched two little chicks of their own. Life goes sadly on.
But now that I saw the whole video, I’m extremely pleased that the swan family came back and the parents are attentive to the straggler. Win win scenario. No need to scoop this one up and get it to a rehab center fast. I’m just tired of the videos where somebody is taping or videotaping a Siegel eating up baby ducks right in front of them. I know it’s nature but we’ve screwed nature up enough. Intervene and make those Seigels go away. But some people just video these things right in front of them without for that instance intervening and keeping predators from eating baby ducklings whole
The adult swans were not perturbed by the camera man. Its far more likely the cygnets were either attacked by other male swans or eaten by gulls, fox's and herons. They are highly vulnerable in the first two weeks because they are so small.
Damn it I was hoping it would die. LIke a heron would swoop down and gobble it up alive or the parents would mistake it for a brood parasite and kill it themselves. That would have been awesome.
