I don't think an ad for Pokemon merchandise would have aired during a Pokemon episode. There's an FCC regulation about not being able to advertise products based on a show during said show.
I remember seeing a commercial for the Orange Islands season of Pokemon which teased that a character would be leaving the show. It ended up being Brock, of course. The commercial used characters from Superman: The Animated Series. At the Daily Planet, Perry White tells Clark Kent and Lois Lane that someone is leaving Pokemon and asks them to get the scoop on who it is. Clark remarks he hopes that it's Team Rocket because he's tired of the motto the recite every episode. I wasn't able to find this commercial in any compilations on RU-vid.
Not gonna lie, the Chuck E Cheese commercial looks and sounds super cool! I've always been fond of vintage CEC content, as I seriously dig anything related to that restaurant chain from back in the day, it brings me back to some good nostalgia. Since everything LSSQ brings up in a video gets found a couple months after, I sure hope that commercial gets found someday, I'd sure like to see it, it looks like a lot of care went into the ad.

Im a massive fan of CEC/Showbiz Pizza/Creative engineering lore 😅 i think unfortunately for a company this old theres bound to be alot of stuff slipping or lost in the cracks of time, im glad they're easier to find info on than some vintage things i own though. DUDE I remember that Oswald commercial! It's weird because I've known about that lost media topic for some time now, but it didn't occur to me until now that I had in fact seen this! I remember it being such a random but hilarious parody commercial as a kid, even though I didn't know much about Ozzy Osbourne at that time. I do distinctly remember it airing on Nick Jr, if not in the early afternoon of Nickelodeon. Assuming they didn't make multiple commercials of that concept, I remember the commercial I saw even ended with Oswald and his friends performing Black Sabbath's "Iron Man". I really hope that commercial gets found at some point, it's wild to me that I've seen this piece of lost media before and it's not archived anywhere, but it resurfaces years later with people like us all remembering it. LMW needs to update that tag if they haven't, the commercial DEFINITELY did exist and it 100% aired on Nick.

6:54 I have the faintest memory of this. I believe this was a "Got Milk?" commercial that aired during one of the Kids' Choice Awards in the early 2000s. I thought that they were drinking regular milk.

So uh, this topic I'm gonna bring up here relates to a tragic event, but one that was brought up when the event happened, but I've been having trouble finding these, and given its nature I dunno if we have a full list of all of them. If you remember the tragic case of Travis the Chimp, it turns out that Travis actually was a decently used animal actor for several commercials for different brands. These include Old Navy and Coca-Cola, among others. Supposedly these commercials were popular enough to get mentioned in almost every news report about the subject, but as I said I've been having trouble finding these. I've found the Old Navy commercial, clips of other commercials from news reports and other videos from around the time of the incident, and a commonly spread around Pepsi commercial claimed to have starred him, though the date of the commercial contradicts Travis' birthdate. 'Travis the Chimp's Commercials' on the Lost Media Wiki forums is the thread to look for. I created that one and I wonder if anyone would be willing to help me on this. Its primarily for the historical value of it all. I'm not 100% sure if they're lost or I'm just not looking hard enough. Help would be appreciated regardless.

I remember in 2005 there was a Thanksgiving Promo on Nick@Nite which a puppet looking like one of those hand-shaped turkeys was promoting the Thanksgiving marathon and said something to the effect of “You don't eat, you WATCH people eat.”
how are we even sure that the pokemon commercial ever existed in the first place? sure there's a song, but there doesn't seem to be any concrete proof that the commercial ever existed or was aired. the voice actress being surprised that someone would know it makes it seem more like there is no commercial at all
yeah as a big Pokemon fan, the story seems a bit off. it seems uncharacteristic of TPC to use anime characters to promote the video games, as they usually keep each media channel as contained as possible.

I saw a commercial probably around 2007-2011 that showed a seemingly never ending conveyor belt of black suitcases with red ribbons at an airport. I don’t remember what the commercial was for but I think it was for some type of insurance company. The black bags with red ribbons were supposed to represent their competitors and there may have been one unique bag that was supposed to represent the product being sold. I think the commercial aired on either Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network
I expressly remember the spongebob chocolate milk commercial. I don’t remember what the product was but I remember seeing it a lot and remember that it made me want to drink chocolate milk, which I did most times when I saw it lol. commercials are such interesting pieces of lost media because no one really thinks anything of them when they air, and once people talk about them being lost there's only a handful of others who might remember it or have any evidence. there are a few i'm looking for that i remember seeing as a kid, and i think it just comes down to hoping they're out there somewhere in some random commercial compilation.
DUDE. I have been looking for the "It Takes Two" ad for years. Glad you're shedding light on this because it's driven me nuts for such a long time. The only info I have about it is the fact that I scoured the Wayback Machine on the Pokémon website with the date being back when Ruby and Sapphire were first coming out. I forget the date, but eventually I found an article called "It Takes Two" and my heart skipped a beat because I thought I had finally found it; I had not. It was just about a 2v2 Ruby and Sapphire tournament being held in (I think) New York City. However, I do have a theory. I think that the ad never aired on TV. To me, the audio just sounds kind of unfinished. It doesn't seem well mixed, the voices aren't adjusted, etc. I think that (maybe) it was shown off at that "It Takes Two" event. The name lines up, and it just doesn't seem up to snuff enough to put it on TV. I feel it'd go over better at a live event.
I can definitely say for that SpongeBob commercial that I do actually remember it and considering I basically hard turkeyed cartoons around 03-04, I definitely feel like this was circulated in the very early 2000s like speculated. genuinely curious if that one ends up being found, but I also have this vague memory that it was really short, almost like a bumper, so it might not seem like much.
Well since there were only 8 Pizza Time Theater locations in 1979 with only 2 outside of CA, being a CA only commercial would make sense. Also just a note, KQED has always been a PBS station and wouldn't have had commercials.

There was a Cartoon Network commercial I remember seeing for some sort of NBA or just basketball related contest with Ed, Edd, n Eddy clips thrown in. There were two clips I remember specifically because they had basketballs edited in. One was the part from 'Oath to an Ed' where they're trying to microwave a burrito and Eddy sends it into overdrive but now there's a basketball sitting on top of it, and they're watching it as though it was actually a TV. The other was from 'Keeping up with the Eds' where Eddy's rolling down the street on a bloated Victor but Victor is replaced with a giant basketball. I feel like I saw it in the early 2000s

to do with the lost spongebob commercial: on the print version of the ad it says that it is a campaign with the spongebob you wish thing where you could vote which ending to be use for the episode shanghaied so maybe the commercial aired when the you wish thing was going on?

OMG, so I know I've seen the Spongebob commercial and the It Takes Two video. Spongebob does indeed stick his whole head in the glass at the end and pulls it out all swollen with chocolate milk. I think it MAY have been pulled because a yellow sponge dips his head into a glass and turns himself brown but that's just personal speculation. I've worked with the public so I know people have made big stinks over practically nothing before. Now, the It Takes Two video: I do not have a copy of it, let me be up front right now, but I remember that weekend in 2003. I had just given birth to my eldest son so the time frame is pretty locked in my mind. Kids' WB was running a bunch of songs in between the shows that weekend, not just Pokemon. So the "video" was just a bunch of spliced show clips put together with occasional overlays of Ash and Misty with mismatched mouth flaps "singing". They made it seem like Ash was singing to Pikachu and Misty to Starmy (or Staryu, memory is fuzzy). If I recall correctly it played twice that morning and as far as I know never again (in my area). You're not missing much, but good luck on finding them, nonetheless!
This technically isn't commercials, but I really love how adult swim has started officially uploading their bumps online every week. There are likely thousands of bumps that were aired a few times at most and never again. This practice led to what many call the "adult swim moment" where someone flips through the channels and catches a wild piece of media, than goes crazy and questions their own memories when seemingly no one else saw it.
Commercials hit hard because they were never meant to be remembered. That puts them in a time and place in a way that TV shows aren’t because they want to be at least somewhat timeless. Cartoon cartoon Friday music gives me goosebumps lol
man, Noggin was such a neat little block. I SWEAR i remember a commercial where Moose and Zee talked about music for a bit then they played Mary Hopkins' song "Those Were the Days", although i don't remember the full context at all and ive never seen anyone else mention it, so i just assume it was a weird fake memory.
I could have sworn the Oswald thing was during an MTV awards show. Since I think both are owned by paramount. I remember seeing it as a kid and thought it was hilarious.

After seeing the Spongebob Got milk ad. That makes me wonder how many other Got Milk ads are lost and forgotten. Due to the fact that a good majority of the Got milk ads where those Magazine/Billboard type of ads back in the 90's and early 2000's.
I did a Google search for the Oswald ad maybe 4-5 years ago and there was absolutely nothing, even though my memory was so vivid. How great to come back and see all this new info!

XD I definitely remembered seeing the SpongeBob chocolate milk ad cover back in the day, and as hilarious, and cute as that was, I had no idea that was also a TV version as well, but it is nice to see that it exists! And don't worry about not saving the video, LSSQ. You obviously didn't know at the time, and you've learned your mistake. ;) I'm sure it'll be found eventually! I may have only been to Chuck E. Cheese a handful of times throughout my whole life, but it is pretty cool to know that there was an animated commercial of the famous pizza restaurant chain, and maybe one day we'll get to see it in all its cel-shaded glory despite it being over 4 decades old at this point! I still find it funny that there exists a crossover with a Nick Jr. show with an MTV one, and it's definitely something I would check out whenever it can be found. There are two commercials (both Halloween related) that I have looking for for YEARS since I saw them on TV. The first one is one that was an ad for one of Disney’s Haunted Mansion rides (I don’t remember if it was for Disneyland or Disney World), and I distinctly remember that it started with a wolf howling and someone with a pumpkin helmet on their head swinging the doors of the ride open in an instant at the strike of thunder and lightning, and I’m pretty sure that it also had the handles of the doors knocking on their own, and I know that it couldn’t have been from any earlier than 2011 and no later than 2017 (and the latter is likely stretching the date). The second one is from around 2010-2014, and it was I’m pretty sure for one of Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends ads or something for Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, though I don’t remember the details too much as I looked away for a few seconds since it got a little unsettling (which was uncommon, as I wasn’t scared by too much imagery on TV even then), and the commercial was only about 20-30 seconds long (or potentially less, as I remember it being VERY quick), but I DEFINITELY remember that it had a bunch of zombies and ghouls peeking out from behind gravestones slowly with rotting faces and (probably) glowing eyes, and then after a few seconds a voiceover described what it was for, that being one of the two likely candidates I mentioned before. If someone could help me find these, even just finding ONE of these would feel like a weight off my shoulders and put me a little more at ease knowing that what I’ve been searching for for the better part of a decade wouldn’t have been in vain! Keep in mind, though, that I might have a couple details of these commercials mixed up or misremembered, as it’s been MANY YEARS since I’ve seen them, and I only saw them one time each, but each of those times were enough to make an impact and imprint on my memory.

Lost commercials are oddly fascinating in that it is something so extremely mundane we basically saw every day and thought nothing of, not knowing that may be the last time you ever see it and a 10 year search goes out to try and find it.

A commercial I hope to see found one day is the full version of this one McDonald’s happy meal ad from the 2000’s that starred the late Art LaFleur as a soccer coach giving a big motivational pre-game speech. A shorter, 15 second version that cuts out this team talk can be found in the first half of a Lion King 1 1/2 Happy Meal commercial.

There is this Progressive commercial I remember watching on several occasions TWENTY years ago when I was 8. It was centered around a zoo where a guy asked the zookeeper (I believe) to bring some animals to his house on Saturday and the zookeeper imagines the images in his head and the only image I remember was an elephant washing his car with its trunk. After that, the guy says “This is gonna be great!” and the commercial talk about all the Progressive crap before it cuts to this person in a panda costume and the guy walks past it saying “See ya on Saturday.” And the panda reacts by slowly turning his head towards the you and looks at you like “What the hell is this guy talking about?”. I know it was supposed to be funny but it honestly creeped me out as a kid. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I cannot find the commercial ANYWHERE so that seems to be lost media.😥
Sounds familiar. Just to rule it out, you aren't thinking of a Zoo Tycoon ad, are you? I remember those had similar content to this, but I'm sure Progressive made an ad like this, too.
I definitely remember the Oswald/Osborn crossover due to how out of place it was and thinking it was pretty funny because they had censor beeps from the Ozzy dialog. I specifically remember "Oswald" saying "I just wanna rock!" and black sabbath music being spliced in over Oswald footage. It was defiantly in 2003 because a family member that passed in 04 was still alive at the time. It was between 5 to 8pm in the evening, it wasn't during the kids choice awards and there weren't any nick jr shows playing at that time. It was definitely on a weekend, probably during some teen nick block.
Hello, I want to bump this comment. In the video, LSSQ mentions April 7th, 2003 as the potential date of the commercial being shown on tv. I was looking through some Nickelodeon Schedule Archives from Nickstory Wiki. However, a date that is overlooked is April 5th, 2003 which was 2 days prior on a Saturday. What is significant about that date is a special "KCA Retrospective" aired that night at 8:30 PM during the SNICK block. Perhaps this is another Nickelodeon event that that commercial could've possibly aired on and perhaps you saw the commercial on that exact day. I, unfortunately, do not have any recollection of this commercial as it was before I was born. This lost commercial is very intriguing to me and I want it to be found too. Hope this reply helps!
I DEFINITELY remember that SpongeBob commercial! I saw the print ad first (might’ve been in a Nintendo Power magazine since that was the only magazine I ever read constantly) but I know I saw the TV ad, since I remember the animation of SpongeBob’s milk mustache being absorbed, haha. I can’t remember WHERE I saw it though, whether online or on TV… dang. Really love these videos though! Lost commercials are fascinating.
9:03 It's possible that it could have been from someone's personal VHS recording. But as we've seen with other Lost Media cases, some people probably don't know how to transfer it to a file for Internet upload. I hope they find it though. The commercial seems pretty comfy to watch.
Regarding that Chuck E. Cheese commercial, I'd like to give my 2-cents on it. You mentioned that the commercial's storyboard was potentially done by an artist who did comics for the PTT. Well, after doing a little digging, I found a pdf of said comic and at the very bottom, the art is credited as by Lee Marrs, who's a cartoonist and was in California at the time. She's still alive so maybe someone could reach out to her and see if she can remember anything about it.

I never come across these things that I would have actually watched at the time, but I fully may have seen the commercial at the time and just don’t remember because I was literally 3. But 3-5 is probably the exact timeframe that I watched those shows.

I remember there being an online e-card (electronic greetings card) generator back when those were very popular that went along with the Spongebob got milk ad campaign. It had quite a few nick characters from the time drinking milk that you could choose from to send as an e-card. I don't know if this has been archived or not.

The print version of it originally had an ad for the spongebob you wish special, although it was still linked to got milk as you could imagine. So the timeframe for this is around may 2001, although it could be about a two before or perhaps even after
the press release shown in the video states the commercial was set to begin airing on February 24, 2001. i skimmed thru a 2/24/01 ad break but couldn't find it. im gonna keep scouring videos of ad breaks from throughout the end of winter into summer 2001

I remember there that one blooper commercial on Pokémon that tells its origins in Austrailia's Cartoon Network days (possibly a wrong origin on how Pokémon were made), saying something like “One day, the poke ball came out from its sky” as it landed into the Ocean, it burst out and claiming that how they discovered the world of Pokémon. My brother and I ended thought on that’s the origin of it for years, no claim of it on the pokemon wiki page or can’t find that ad online either. Don’t know if people have known this ad years ago and thought it was of the official origin.

I remember some Ed Edd n Eddy bumpers back in the day that I haven't seen since...they used scenes from episodes but incorporated the cartoon network logo. One I specifically remember was them lunging from one room to another(Eddy said "Geronimo!"), with the Cartoon Network logo following them.
When I was a kid, I saw this one McDonalds commercial that was tattooed into my brain yet I cannot find it on RU-vid. It was for the late July-early August Animal Pals happy meal toys. I vividly remember a song with the lyrics "even a hungry rhino" as somebody made a little plush rhino dance around and "eat" fries or something. I recall having the moose plush from the Animal Pals. Is this particular commercial lost media? Whenever I type up 1997 McDonalds commercials, I only get Disney Masterpiece Collection ones but zero trace of Animal Pals commercials.
