Thanks for watching! This is the 2nd part of a 7-part Hawaii series: ru-vid.com/group/PLEyPgwIPkHo53l4igaEuWE1QBdfRNwZNG ► Alika's Email: alikaatay@gmail.com (to contact him and/or buy coconut candies). If you want to get organic coconut candies from Alika, write him an email. Hey Peter, I'm so glad you are doing the Hawaiian series. I watched a YT vid about a cruise ship that travels within the islands and it talks about the crew. I don't believe there is any historical value to the video, but I was surprised to learn that people would spend the money to cruise inter-island. I was saddened by the fire that hit Lahaina, especially all the historic buildings that were lost. There is new growth on the damaged Banyan Trees, it looks like they will make a complete recovery. I live in MA but have vacationed in HI.

I feel their pain. we have people in this world that could careless about doing the right things in life. Wouldn't it be nice if we the people had a way meaning ''us'' stay in control of these important things in our lives. There's more of us and we as a team should come together to better handle and control our most important things. We have a democrat and a republican party manipulating everything and they are all making more money than they should be. George Soros and others should be stopped!! We know they have a master plan to take all they can leaving the rest of us in the gutter's.

Maybe I'm missing something here. In the last year I've heard nothing but bats#it crazy, far-right conspiracy theories claiming that these rich liberals want to steal the land in hawaii from native Hawaiians. But apparently no one can get around the 99 year land lease agreements. That's the one important detail all these far-right nut jobs seem to leave out.

I love this guy’s philosophy, “people move here and try to change it exactly to the place they came from.” A warning of all states. If you move out of your state for better opportunities, leave your old place behind. You moved for a reason, don’t make the reason be you.

I'm retired, living on social security, and I had that same feeling of not being able to afford to travel. But watching Peter's videos made me realize that I'm surrounded by interesting people communities I know very little about. A few blocks this way and a few miles that way. Filled with exceptional people living lives very different from mine. Peter has encouraged me to start speaking to who I used to think of as strangers, but now think of as characters in my very own video. They're waiting to tell me things I've never even imagined. A few blocks this way, a few miles that way; suddenly, I'm rich enough to travel.

I love the "salad analogy": each vegetable or fruit (all plants) unique characteristics, but when blended together they become a very flavorful dish. Humans should look at each other that way: we may be unique but when working together we can contribute our special characteristics to produce something great! Another great video. I'm one of the Hawaiians who doesn't live on the island. My mothers side of the family is from Hanapepe, Kauai. I'd love to go back and really reconnect one day, but it's just too expensive. Thanks for visiting Hawaii and exploring past the glitz and glamour. It's a really beautiful place, but there's a lot of sad stories, difficult situations, and heart break sprinkled throughout. Not many bother to look in and really see the real Hawaii.

It is true about listening and looking for the omens or ancestors or amakua. When my boyfriend and I were out fishing between Maui and Lanai, we accidentally hooked a whale, probably on a barnacle. The whale pulled our boat backwards until my boyfriend was able to unhook us. Then the whale spy hopped in front of the boat, checking us out. We bowed in apology. My boyfriend was so overcome, that he proposed to me. I should have figured out that the whale pulled us backwards, and said no. Instead I said yes, thinking of the awesome thing we experienced. The marriage did not work out.

And what a vision to transform the captured land back into sustaining farmland. Thank you Peter, for being 'out there' and connecting to the People so openly wherever you go - you really listen. I’m always looking to see when new content is posted on your channel and was super excited you’re doing this series on Hawaii and appreciate this episode to show the struggles experienced by the people of Hawaii and the overthrow of the kingdom there. Many people visit Hawaii without appreciating the history. I am happy to hear the legal transfer of land ownership back to Kai’s family that had been taken many years ago and Alika’s passion for encouraging the people there be reliant on the land and less on imports. I look forward to the other videos to come in this series!

OMG, Peter. Thank you again for covering Maui. I know about the Canadian Retirement Fund and the company Landowner. Much respect for the people of Hawaii and this gentleman with so much wisdom.

Wives of lawyers and judges stopped the wells that would give water for Upcounrty, Ulapalakua- Kainio and plantation land below Pukalani; yet live in Wailea by the ocean and have water from West Maui above Wailuku while blocking others! Feel like it’s rare in todays society and people only want to associate with their ‘tribe’. There is no gotcha moments on your channel or trying to belittle someone’s opinions. The way you converse with people allows them to feel comfortable and coherent in articulating themselves.
