Hi Bill & Lisa, so glad to see you bring some "Hawaii" into your local LA vlog :) Plate lunches looked great! Seems like Cali and also in Vegas there are numerous Hawaiian food establishments. Out here in Maryland, we actually have a restaurant that serves Hawaiian food called Uncles Hawaiian Grindz in Fallston, MD, it's great, but that's the closest to me having Hawaiian food out here. Boy do I miss Hawaii :( I hope you both can make it out to the islands sooner than later. Congrats on your new job Lisa :)

L and L quality varies a lot by location. I've had good and I've had bad.

As someone who grew up in Hawaii, I tried to go to plate lunch places on the mainland, and have always been disappointed. Their foods are always much more like asian food (usually Chinese or Vietnamese), and I know that Hawaiian Plate Lunches are often inspired by Asian foods, but it's just not the same. Now, when I get a plate lunch craving, I either make it myself or find an excuse to get to Hawaii.

We LOVE Costco, congratulations. We have L&L here in Vegas and my daughter said the L&L on Hawaii is better. You have created a new word, mayonaissie.

We have both in the area as well. I always make a mix of sriracha and soy, shake it up, and pour over the Mac and rice. The Ono next door to me has also had a $5 deal since May for their Fire Chicken plate.

I’ve given up on L & L in California , the franchises here are so cheap with the portions compared to Hawaii and the quality aren’t as great. I’ve had both places, very similar but not the same...Nothing compares to Hawaii’s plate lunch 😁 🤙🏽 also congratulations on your new job!!

Bill and Lisa thanks for introducing me to chicken Katsu it was delicious. I found a place near me that sells it for lunch in a bento box. It came with chicken katsu, broccoli,California roll,a scoop of rice,2 dumplings ,miso soup and a salad for$12.99.

Costco is a good company with benefits and pay range.

They both looked really good! Never had Hawaiian bbq.

Have not tried Ono but have been to L&L. Our favorite local one is Q&Q which is better and gives more than L&L.

Congrats on your new job Lisa! It all looked really yummy; L&L chicken looked best (they should season the breading!), and Ono short ribs looked best. I've never seen short ribs sliced that thin; looked more like steak. The prices are very reasonable; especially for the chicken. Another great video!
