I used to listen to rock and roll. I heard Christian rock and roll at a Church back in 1980. I became a fan of it not because of the beat but because of the message of faith and hope in Christ Jesus.
It's like the user Star Wars Soapbox said. Just because the lead singer turned away from Christianity doesn't mean that the song loses it's meaning. In fact it can enhance it because even when the singer is gone God still uses it for his glory.
The first tragedy I ever experienced happened when I was 5 years old. My 19 year old aunt fell from a bluff located on our family property. During the first year of my marriage, I watched as my great grandmother suffered with brain cancer and died 10 days before my first anniversary. At 26, I found my 47 year old daddy deceased from an accidental overdose. Just this past Christmas, my younger sister committed suicide. It hurts. It is a struggle but I'm thankful that God is on my side. I don't know the reasons why things happen as they do but putting my faith in the belief that each struggle is a tool tha God is using for my benefit helps. I just hope that after all the pressure and despite my imperfections, I will shine as brightly as He has always intended me to! I use this song to raise my spirit, reaffirm my faith and keep me hopeful of what is to come!
@whokoo I feel God is on my side because I have come through these difficult times with the ability to feel I am stronger. Walking and talking with Christ through these moments gave me a sense of peace during my most difficult storms. He was refining my soul and I can see that. As for the group losing God as an inspiration, I don't feel the need to judge them for that. This song, without doubt, is a testament to the way God can strengthen you through hardship. It is a beautiful statement. Instead of disregarding their music because of their current view I chose to pray that they will once again find their inspiration so that they will once again be able to use their God given talent to raise the spirit of others. They may have lost their inspiration but I can pray that they will find it again. ✌

Just went through a month of critical health issues, 10 days in a hospital. Went to church for the first time last week, and the praise team sung this song! I had already heard it on the radio, but, when i heard it.........I just lost it. It makes me shine for God with all that I have. Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!
Dana Snell same how I feel in just the last year I spent total of 6 months in hospitals between June thru January. September I sustained life threatening injuries, but I ended up pulling thru. They didn't think I'd even make it over the weekend, so my time must've not been up.
Self-love is still a massive struggle for me But then I'm reminded of this song, and how THE CREATOR OF THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE is more proud of me than I can ever imagine. And he's not done with me yet. He's just getting started.

If you think about it, this song unintentionally implies the existence of purgatory which is also implied in scripture. We may be saved by Christ's sacrifice, but becoming holy is a completely different thing because nothing unholy can enter God's kingdom. In purgatory, it is a stage of repentance where God makes diamonds out of us and allows us to be purged of the sins we died with. Then, when all of the sins have died with are washed away, we can enter God's kingdom.
I don't usually listen to Christian rock, but have started to listen to several contemporary Christian stations. Several songs are played quite often, with this being one of them. I love this song!!! What a great message it has for all of us!!!

I would like to thank you for this song. God has used this song to bring me through one of the most traumatic times in my life. Laying in the emergency room with a herniated disc and pinched nerve, I had my sister play this song to me while in excruciating pain and I sang every lyric to myself, encouraging myself that in the midst of being crushed by love and refined in the fire that there would be something good left in me, in the end. Today I am happy to report that surgery went well and I am pain free. My fiery trial lasted 3 days in excruciating pain and it was the lyrics in this song that pulled me through. Thank you for what you are doing with your lives. It certainly made a difference in mine! God bless you all!
I have been in the ashes for 20 months now being separated from my wife because of my mistakes. I found Our Lord last May and this song along with so many others lift me higher than anything else besides His Word. Devoted to Him first. Waiting on my happiness to return
LOL it wasn't until recently that i found out Hawk Nelson isn't a singer, but a band. LOL I LOVE this song!!!!!!!!!! It's super encouraging! God isn't done with us yet! He always has everything planned out for our lives!

I have had so much going on lately and was literally at my end. My ex husband kept my daughter and it took a bit to be ok with it and to know it was what was best for her at the time and now I am getting ready for a bad custody battle for my boys and I just wanted everything to stop. @whokoo For the ignorant, it is blind faith. For those who walk in the Spirit, the evidence is all there. The Bible is 100% historically, scientifically, and factually accurate. Archeological discoveries have proven this in many cases. The world often discovers new science, only to find out that it was in the Bible all along. Once you study the original languages, the truths become even more abundantly clear.

However, we should pray that he returns to Christ like the prodigal son. Edit I agree that he was never a Christian to begin with(1 John 2:19), but what we need to do is pray that he sees God's goodness because that's what leads to repentance(Romans 2:4)

I sometimes get asked why I wear a diamond around my neck, instead of a cross. It's to remind me that God can take something dirty and make it into something beautiful.
