11CD Hawkwind box set This Is Your Captain Speaking… Your Captain is Dead
This now out of print box set from 2015 celebrated Hawkwind's United Artists era from 1970-1974. This stops short of the 1975 Warrior on the Edge of Time album. This was in turn was issued in various deluxe formats later one.
The box set includes the following albums Hawkwind, In Search of Space, Greasy Truckers’ Party (2CD) Doremi Fasol Latido, The Space Ritual - live (2CD), Hall of the Mountain Grill, The 1999 Party (2CD) Time and Stars - The Singles.
I also cover the RoadHawks Remaster which although not part of this box set sits very easily inside the box!
Some of the albums were remastered and on release this sold for about £16. It is now way more expensive and very hard to find.

I was very lucky to pick this up when it first came out and it was very good value. I'm not a record collector - its more about the music for me - but having these CD's like the albums is something really nice to hold. The sound on these is really good too. Hawkwind have a huge and diverse back catalogue and the solo and side projects are really something else. For me, only the Beatles and Kinks come close.

I think that despite Peter Mew being involved, the remastering of this set is far superior to the previous versions, by a country mile, and close to the vinyl versions.

This was essential on release if only for the hard to find 1999 Party and exclusive 2 disc Greasy Truckers. A copy of 1999 Party would often cost more! I still think it's worth buying certainly for up to £50. There is another exclusive singles comp included too. The sound isn't the best versions but it's nothing deserving of complaint to my ears. If I lost mine is have to rebuy it.

Hey Phil, I bought this when it came out. It was the first stuff by the Band I've bought. I knew a couple of Songs ("Silver Machine", "Urban Guerilla" & "Levitation") from a couple of Samplers. They are certainly in a class of their own. Some of this stuff is really bizarre. So much so, that I couldn't listen to the whole Box start to finish. But the individual Albums I like. I've probably listened to "The 1999 Party" the most. My favorite is "Warrior on the Edge of Time". I have this in a little Box with the Remix and Regular Versions, incl. a couple of Bonus-Tracks and a DVD. Very nice. I've gotta hunt down that "Road Hawks" now, I guess. Also thinking about that Compilation. Great video.

I wasn't aware of this featured boxset to be fair. I am still digesting and listening to the Dust of Time boxset. I guess the record companies have to come up with fresh ideas all the time. With regards pricing as you say they start off initial at a reasonable retail price and they when the stock dries up the demand dictates the price. It would be great if there was a way that we could get these record companies to do some odd pressings of older sets. I realise again they have to have a reasonable demand to make it financially viable first.

Hi John, I agree. I am hoping the recent repressing of the complete albums box set by Cheap Trick and Weather Report is a sign that this may be happening. Phil

have this it is great.I also have a box set of Hawkwind called 25 years on from 1994 and a box set of the Warrior On The Edge Of Time from 1993 they were on the Griffin label.

Hello, Mr. Aston! You are a very inspiring person, and I truly admire your enthusiasm :) I'd like to recommend you an album: Space Metal by Star One, which is a side project of the prog mastermind Arjen Lucassen. One of the bonus tracks on the album is called Hawkwind Medley, and it features none other than Dave Brock. It's basically a more metal version of famous Hawkwind tracks. I thought you might be interested :)

Loads of info and a bit of a warning....so big cheers for that ;) ...the "albums" have no extra content...so......true to the originals but we get such a range of bonus material eg sweet mistress 1971) as bonus on debut, remasters Etc. You've gotta be super completest! (Is that a word??) To settle for this S.F.W. THANKS AGAIN 😊

Well Warrior was 75 and I think they deliberately held this back because they had separate plans for this. The Steven Wilson remix is stunning. A booklet would have made a difference here are there is no info on the discs. It was well worth it on release but not really for the prices you see it for now. Thank you for watching. Phil :)
