I can tell you from personal experience and testing the absolute best way to feed cattle round bales is to grind the bale up and feed it in a bunk feeder with a floor...the cows do better on ground feed and waist is down to 3%
Hey I store just about all my hay in the shed and also chop cow hay in a bale chopper blow it in the shed scoop it up with the loader tractor and feed it in a feeder wagon with no waist at all but it saves hay n cost some fuel
