Prequels sucked!!!! Sucked a$$ 100 percent. Terrible acting tip to bottom but I will admit Hayden got better as the movies went on, from stink acting to much improved in revenge of the sith
It feels like Star Wars has been training Hayden to actually be like some super soldier. We know hes actually a good duelist and highly athletic and now this too.
Never understood why he had to do breath holds when a scuba system isn't THAT expensive. I mean I get it, one might argue "why pay for all that equipment when he can just hold his breath" but then "why hire a dive coach to train him to hold his breath when you can just rent scuba gear."
My guess would be that they didnt want all the bubbles that comes from exhaling to show. There is scuba gear that takes care of the air you exhale but the only ones I have seen are very big so you couldn't hide the the mouth piece in Vaders mask.
I hate Disney Star Wars but man, im so glad they kept Hayden as Vader. He got way too much shit for the prequels. He did a great job with the lines he was handed, but the lines were shit and he got blamed for it. His performance was as good as it possibly could be and I love him. Same with the guy who played Little Anakin. That poor kid got trashed for no good reason.
Sometimes the fans are a franchise's worst enemy, because they build things up in their heads and are then let down when the franchise doesn't meet their expectations, which can sometimes be unfairly high. I say that as a lifelong Star Wars fan.
Especially considering that they were ALREADY IN THE TANK. They easily could have had a scuba line to the mask he was wearing, but chose not to for some reason.
@@DHealey There were two tubes. They could have one going in while the other went out. Such a system actually exists. SEALs and other SF type units use them as they recycle the air, to keep bubbles from forming from an exhale. Here, all they would have needed to do was have one way valves for each tube.
@@Hilmes4145 That's what it does, but it's called something else and the name was not coming up when I made the comment. It's called the LAR V Draeger system.
It´s very achieveable. There is a simple technique you can try at home for fun. You lay down flat or sit, relax and then you start breathing in for 5 seconds and exhale for twice as long. You do this fo a couple of minutes every day and then after you try to hold your breath. You will get better every day and up to 3 minutes is very achieveable for the regular non smoking fit individual. The body uses up more oxygen if you move or swim, but sitting still it´s possible.
It's not really. I used to do that in the pool when I was about 18 in college. I remember testing myself in about 4th or 5th grade to see how long I could do it. If you just get in some good deep breaths, inhale all the way, completely relax and understand you're alright and maybe release a little bit of what is held in very slowly to relax your lungs it's not so bad. Assuming your lungs are healthy and you get a normal amount of oxygen through your body otherwise it shouldn't be that bad. It can take a little practice, but not so bad.
This is pretty cool. Doing things "old school" and having as much practical effect as possible. And with Haden doing actual breath holds, instead of just having a ring of water to make it look like he was actually in it. Both are legitimate ways of doing this and the latter is a pretty goof SFX trick. But going the route they did made it that much cooler. The fact that they got him to do the scene when ANYONE could have, given that we don't see his face clearly, is a nice touch and pretty respectful. Even though the original Vader was played by 3 different people. I wish I had a ton of money so I could make a fan film, even if it was only in the low 6 figures. If you want to see what can be done with minimal budget and have a very good cross-over short film ... check out "Batman: Dead End". It was done for $30k in 2003, approx $53k today.
@@thribs No. After Windu died he says "What have I done", which means he fully realizes that he did a terrible mistake. And at this point he still could've been redeemed. But Palpatine seizes the opportunity and uses his confusion and his fear of losing Padme to actually turn him to the dark side by ordering him to kill younglings. That's when the transformation takes place. Anakin walked in the Jedi Temple, but Vader walked out.
Even at that depth, he's too deep for that. The diapraghm can't compete with the water pressure, so he wouldn't be able to fully exhale. He'd basically be huffing his own exhale in and out of the pipe, never actually getting fresh air. That would require something like a SCUBA system which pressurizes the air and forces it into your lungs, and then your exhale just goes out into the water as bubbles. Which would ruin the shot.
Actually if you really want to get technical Star Wars Theory was the first to have Darth Vader in his Bacta tank in live action the way it was presented to us in Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
i have no idea, there were still bubbles in there. i agree it makes no sense. or maybe they didnt want to spend more time on editing to remove potential bubles... this entire show sounds bs to be honest, they added hayden just for fanservice and nothing more. Obiwan should have never met darth vader between episode 3 and 4.
This series deserves more than it got. Those so called critics don't know shit. Just look at Bullet Train, that's a 10/10 in my book, but only got a 5 from people who should know their shit. And probably failed hard in their own career xD.
Nope. An odd phobia I have is being submerged without something protecting my face! Give me a diving mask I can go under water. But just goggles? Nope.
Hayden wasn't in Rogue One - his face mould was used and aged up quite a bit, so that he looked like 41 year old Vader (Vader was 41 in A New Hope after all).
Rogue One was an exception to the Disney Star Wars rule of "put a woman in it and make her gay and lame!". Mandalorian and Andor backed up the proof presented by Rogue One that Disney CAN make good Star Wars, but ONLY if someone involved actually cares to try.
Rogue one is still the only real exception since Disney got its claws in. Kenobi is cool for the fight scene but that's it everything else is DEI trash
@@AmusedWalrus only a non Star Wars fans would actually enjoy this garbage. No one in their right mind would actually defend what Disney has done to the franchise.
@@Pineconeboy55 Sure buddy. I'm sure you are also one of the people that suddenly say "No guuuuys! The prequels were actually (suddenly) really good!", despite trashing on them for a decade. Or better yet, someone who was a kid during the release of prequels who fails to realize the kids growing up today are going to defend the sequels just as much as 2000's kids defend the prequels. You can gatekeep and hate on Star Wars as much as you want, meanwhile, I will actually keep enjoying it.
@@Pineconeboy55 Well at least you are one of the few people in the community that are actually consistent. Either way, I still enjoy Star Wars, then and now. As much as I love the lore and universe itself, I am in it for the adventure. Even when there are problems with a specific show or movie, I love the adventure it takes you on.
You may confuse this with Book of Boba Fett. Jokes aside, Kenobi wasn't great, but I found some joy in it. Book of Boba on the other hand was like a bad parody
As a Vader fan..it was very disappointing tbh..there was some good scenes but they could be compiled into a 5 minute RU-vid video. Reva was one of the most pointless characters I've seen thrown into a project...they really tried to force people to like that one. The story and some of the common sense were all completely lost from that show tho..who the hell watches that Leia "run away" scene "s" and think .."damn this is good" also the child in a trench coat tricking everyone at a high end facility...who thought of these dumb things to throw in?
To be fair, there weren't a lot of black people in movies all together in the 70's, 80's and even into the 90's. Just like if you went back to the 30's +. Its just what it was. Sadly, Hollywood has over-corrected to the point of insulting everyone with their forced 'inclusiveness'
So are black people just not allowed to exist in a fantasy science fiction galaxy? There are hardly enough black characters in modern SW to consider it pandering or "forced inclusiveness." There have been black characters in SW since the original trilogy, go get bent about something that matters, like the significant drop in quality. The ethnic diversity of the cast of Star Wars does not even slightly matter, it's not a period piece and skin color is literally never a plot point. This also has absolutely nothing to do with the video.
i do agree. these new shows just keep reinforcing how good his films are. why keep reinventing the wheel and keep falling flat with so many attempts? just because you try many times doesnt mean it will be different the next time if its not right to begin with. All keep falling flat on so many points and the filmmakers just dont get it. they have many ideas, many stories. but noone catches all of the goodies in the bucket quite like george lucas. he always gives kids the best stuff in a complete set and always aces everything and ties it in the bag. no one can quite catch that ambience + storytelling lucas does in star wars. and this deeper idea behind every film, that the force is a living breathing organism which sets things in motion, we are just its chess pieces. other directors just dont get it. not even filoni. many directors have so far tried their spin at star wars: episode VII, Rogue One, episode VIII, Solo, episode IX, the mandalorian, boba fett, andor, kenobi, ahsoka, the acolyte, but all miss the point, the substance of star wars. they all are just "bold in terms of jerking people around" but never adds this mysterious background ambient force that is the chemical mix, the alchemy of star wars. its always just a bunch of different people doing things in different places. the force is always a tool that they use like wrenches, screwdrivers and hammers. never this holy energy you draw upon for miracles if you believe in it (the message is believe in yourself and you will make it, you will take the step through that door that is opened that you procrastinated for so long and become an adult in this scary world, you just had to take the step through it, quoted by george lucas). in short, other star wars directors are quacks but lucas is the master alchemist who KNOWS HOW TO COOK THE GOOD SHIT FOR THE KIDS
As a Christian, I can't be a fan of Star wars any longer because the Force religion, whether practiced by Jedi or Sith, is basically w1tchcraft. Not that much difference between this and Harry Potter, only this is better disguised, I guess.
how can you even say that. hayden is an incredible actor. the writing was not good. dont blame him for other peoples mistakes. he made the best out of what he had.
@@Tuturial464 I agree that there was good mythos and meaning in the prequels, but that dialogue was painfully bad. I don’t think any actor alive could make those lines sound good.
@@Dgr__003 he's playing Darth Vader here, but I like that they acknowledge that there's still some Anakin in there under the layer of suit and everything
They credited him as anakin because he is the voice of anakin skywalker and James earl jones is the voice of darth vader in the OG credits it’s the same thing w Sebastian Shaw in The credits of ROTJ he’s credited as anakin skywalker and James earl jones is darth vader
@@trevorhogen7761 I agree. All these people try to hate on it, but it is the most "star wars" thing Disney has done. ANDDDDD Disney did a very good job with it.
Great science fiction and fantasy writing existed before Star Wars and much of it served to be a huge influence for Lucas especially Frank Herbert’s Dune, Tolkien and H.G Wells to name but a few. Not trying to diminish his work in anyway what Lucas did with Star Wars was absolutely incredible but if you really delve into the history of science fiction there are many incredible writers who conceived of amazing stories and worlds with nothing but their own imagination. Heck even JK Rowling deserves a lot of credit for creating the world of Harry Potter, I don’t think people realise just how hard it is for somebody to create these unique worlds and actually a meaningful story that works within the rules of that world.
@@artofsam Keep in mind Lucas' most immediate influence were the Flash Gordon serials, and he wanted to make a modern adaptation of it, but couldn't get the rights. So he wrote his own space opera fantasy and well, you know the rest.
@@jsizemo For sure and you can see that's where he definitely got the fantasy aspect from (saving the princess from an evil empire etc) Star Wars at its core is basically Flash Gordon meets Seven Samurai with much of its worlds deriving from Herberts Dune and Edgar Rice Burroughs "Of Mars" novels (John Carter). Also the success of Star Wars is at least 50% John Williams and the editor if it were not for them I really believe there could have been a universe where Star Wars was not the hit it became because it didn't have those monumental ingredients.
