Falcons tight end Hayden Hurst always had dreamed of playing in the MLB or the NFL. After some time in the minor leagues his passion for baseball had diminished, which threw his life in flux. He wanted everything to be over. But, he was given a second chance in life, culminating in his NFL dream being accomplished. some days are better than others, its like riding a roller coaster... some days you get stuck at the bottom. Its not something thats easy to talk about. just always remember... be kind. you never know what your neighbor/coworker/even a good friend is going through inside their head.

The 11 people that gave this video a thumbs down are the ones that's are suffering from depression the most and they never experienced the feeling of suicide. Hayden Hurst is now my favorite Falcons player for the fact that a lot of NFL players suffers from depression and never came out to address the situation.

Amazing man, and story! I am in tears, I have a 21 year baseball player myself, who has struggled soo soo much with depression, drugs and alcohol, and has spent the last year in a mental/rehab facility, he was released in October, and we never seen him, till he showed up in our driveway 2 weeks ago, a mental mess, bawling, and tried to commit suicide, your story touched my heart, I wish my son would see his worth...

When I heard Hayden say he got a second shot brings me to tears. I lost my uncle to suicide and am just happy to see Hayden get through such a difficult time. You Mr.Hurts are a hero to many and I just wish one day I could meet you and give you a hug for all the positive things you’ve done to help impact so many young people about their mental health. My cousin struggles with depression from my uncle and would love for him to some day meet you.

I am 28 years old. The same thing happened with me and baseball. I played my way out of college ball with the yips. The way Hayden describes the anxiety and not feeling your hand is spot on. It was horrible. Watching my friends go on and play professionally knowing it could be me lead me down a path of constant drinking to relieve the feelings of depression. My parents have always been there for me but can never understand how horrible it is to lose the ability you were once so good at. To lose your purpose. Unfortunately I didn’t have a second sport to focus on and am still trying to find “what’s next.” This video helps me realize I’m not alone. Hayden, you got a new fan here.

People doesn't grasp how bad or how real depression is! I went through it because of Washington state DOC. If it wasn't enough, my acquired family and my twin brother turned their back on me. My mother was overseas dealing with her own health condition, and I done everything possible to keep it away from her for as long as I could. Never taken drugs but had gotten drunk several times. I had almost lost everything. Now I'm doing better. Just getting my life in order a piece at a time.

You are such a wealthy man, Hayden. Not in a monetary way in the first place as a NFL pro, but much more in a human way. You stumbled throug the deepest, darkest creeks of your soul, but finally got out of it. And you are taking care of others that may be in the exact same situation now, you once have been. This man went through the hell that is depression. He got out of it, succeeds in the sport he loves and encourages millions of people by talking about it. And our phenomenal GM has nothing better to do than to come to the ATL and decide that, after Haydens best career-year so far, he wants to tell him "We won't exercise the option in your contract. You'll be out of here within twelve months." Thankfully, the Bengals understood what this man's worth. Unlike the former Aint, who runs our organization now. Hayden, make your way in the playoffs and keep on being awesome. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Mr. Fontenot.. just leave.

Gave me straight chills. Amazing video and it made me look at Hayden in a completely new way. I used to see him as just a football player and now he’s one of my favorite people in the league. Not just as a player but as a person.
