As a listener, I am challenged by the complexity of this Sonata. It is definitely not easy listening; however, this is not meant in any negative sense whatsoever. I am awed by the brilliance of both Haydn and Riefling. Riefling's understanding and interpretation of this note-intensive piece is nothing less than astounding. Fluid technique and an artistic use of dynamics, pauses and rests are integral to a wonderful, burnished musical experience.
@@davidhertzberg I uploaded some recordings of Riefling on YT already 12 years ago...but in fact he is still a great little known pianist...his 32 Beethoven Sonatas are magnificent...
