The first one is so beautiful. My piano teacher told me to learn this and she gave me the whole music score.I just love it... classic music is awesome.

I agree, it evokes the picture of someone weeping. It has a baroque introspective quality.

Bavouzet’s performances of the sonatas (not ‘songs’) are consistently amongst the very best.

This trio is little brilliant, so unusuall and modern sound

Haydn has a habit of this, it's always a beautiful and shifting space with his trios.

The syncopations are quite common in early Haydn sonatas, as is the minor key Trio in a major key Minuet.

Il terzo movimento di questa sonata sembra tratto, piè pari, da una sonata di Domenico Scarlatti. Bravissimo il pianista.
@elaineblackhurst1509
@elaineblackhurst1509 20 дней назад
It’s clearly not taken from Scarlatti or anyone else; for starters, when Haydn wrote this, the thirty ‘Essercizi’ published in London in 1739 were the only works known outside the royal palaces of Spain, and this sonata is nothing like any of those thirty.

第2楽章メヌエットのトリオは、どこかバッハの平均律第1巻ハ長調のプレリュードのスタイルを感じます。旋律的な主部との対比がとても魅力的ですね。

Nothing like Scarlatti - it’s Haydn.

@@elaineblackhurst1509 Have you even listened some of Scarlatti's charming sonatas? I have listened to all 555 of his sonatas in the Kirkpatrick catalogue, so I am familiar with Scarlatti's style. Although this Haydn sonata may not be 100% Scarlatti, I do hear hints of it, and it's okay if you don't. I don't think everyone is supposed to notice it since not everyone is familiar with Scarlatti.

@@yuk_notkim7658 I have about ten volumes of Scarlatti sonatas including the four Henle volumes, the sixty published by Ralph Kirkpatrick, and a number of others; I have read both Kirkpatrick’s biography and W. Dean Sutcliffe’s book on the sonatas, and have about 100 in my repertoire, along with another 100 or so I play regularly. My main problem with your theory is that during Scarlatti’s lifetime, apart from the 30 Essercizi published in London in 1738, almost nothing left the royal palaces of Spain until after the composer’s death when copies were taken back to Italy, and then re-copied - the Venice and Parma sources today; until the end of the century, none of these were published, hence my scepticism that Haydn (nor anyone else) could have known much about Scarlatti at all until the 1790’s, therefore any perceived links can only be fanciful. It should be added in terms of a complete reply, that Haydn’s authorship of this early pre-1767 A major sonata Hob. XVI:12 is doubtful at best.

I don't remember what I used. For the videos, I usually use imslp.org scores. For myself and for teaching, I always prefer to buy Urtext for Haydn (like Henle or Schott).
