The Hayfield Hotel Pub was an important meeting place for the area's Afro Caribbean community since at least the 1970s and was regularly demonised by the authorities and Police as a haven for criminals and drug dealers......
Despite attempts by the Police to close down the premises over the decades - the Hayfield remained open until 2002 - when its licence was revoked......
This was the last remaining pub in Chapeltown - where all the various pubs, Betting shops, cafes & other meeting places for the areas large Afro Caribbean community have been systematically closed down by the authorities over the last few decades....
