I was the First Class purser on a Pan Am flight from Los Angeles to London, 40 years ago, and Hayley Mills was our passenger. She came on crying because she was leaving her sister in L.A. She was so charming and one of the nicest passengers I ever had the pleasure of serving.
I must have watched the, "Parent Trap," ten times in my life time or more. With Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith. It was just a heart warming movie. It made my child hood. I loved Hayley Mills. She was so mischievous and beautiful. She hasn't changed. Good seeing her and her sister Juliet. Both were great actresses.
And they look beautiful instead of the same cookie cutter face lifts that make everyone look like the demented JOKER. Always wished that they could have all done a film together.
I remember reading a comment by Hayley once, in which she said that back then "the industry tried to keep children from growing up, , and now they make kids grow up too fast" which was completely true, giving them child parts as long as they possibly could then, and now giving them far too mature parts. Well said.
yes, hayley in pollyanna, the dutch windmill one, & the one where they rented the summer house belonging to peter brown; that was hilarious! betty gordon, ames, iowa fan forever
i am stunned at how Hayley is so recognizable. To woman of a certain age, she meant so much. She was a wonderful actress. The Moonspinners was a highlight for me.
@Evelyn Brown I'm not the only one who's mentioned The Moonspinners, so why did you ask me? :-D it certainly don't sound like a "hillbilly gang"! I could say I've no idea what you're talking about!
Wonderful! So rare to see this two legends together. Thanks for sharing. In 1990 their father Sir John Mills took part in a charity gala at the London Palladium and I managed to get a seat at the back...to my joy I was seated behind Hayley and Juliet! And after their father performed a nifty song and dance number, they jumped up and gave him a standing ovation (with the rest of us). Bravo!
I can remember seeing Hayley Mills on screen when I was a young girl , I loved her accent , and wished to look and sound like her !! They are both gorgeous , natural women who are lovely and unaffected people !!! And great actors , of course !!
I always wanted to be Hayley Mills. Especially when she worked with Horst Bucholtz!! And I LOVE the fact that they still look like themselves, instead of pathetic, plastic and pulled!
Well said! They're not frightened to look themselves, and they're seem to be comfortable being themselves, especially Juliet! The film with Horst Buscholz was Tiger Bay, her 1st one :-)
Apparently there was talk of her doing a sequel to Tiger Bay with Horst Bucholtz many years later when she was much older. Would love to have seen them get together after he came out of Prison. Love that movie.😉
eileen martin LOVED it! I also loved a very early black and white movie of Hayley’s in which she co-starred with her father. It may have been her first. I think it was called something like “Tiger Bay,” where John Mills plays an escaped convict hiding in a boat and discovered by children. I fell in loved with her then. Like several other women commented here, I, too, would have named a daughter Hayley after HM had I ever had children.
@@cydkriletich6538 a bit confused here. Whistle down the Wind had an escaped prisoner hiding in a barn, not a boat, and John Mills wasn’t in it, just Hayley.
boy, you all keep mentioning the ones i loved also where stayed on to be a nun at the end! their smoking in that little building outside and the fire dept. comes! lol. betty gordon, ames, iowa
Oh, Tiger Bay was a first class movie that has been overlooked. Hayley's first film, and she was so realistic! And a great story, the rapport between the child and the sailor who committed murder in a jealous rage - but he protected the child and ultimately, saved her life.
God how I love Juliet!!!! When I was a little girl she was Phoebe Figalilly and she is still beautiful to me all these years later. Bless this lovely woman!!!!
wow Hayley's voice is just so amazing - that innocent quality of speaking/ sound never left her...thats one of the things that made her such a great disney star!
i also think of her for her POSITIVE things said in POLLYANNA where she challenged minister about how many GLAD THINGS there are in the bible where he went thru it and gave her an accurate number. loved how she and moochy/kevin corcoran went to old man pedigas, sp, and got him changed in personality where he was going to adopy moochy!! seeling all those prisms! betty gordon, ames, iowa fan
I always did enjoy the movies these beautiful ladies starred in. Their father John Mills was an excellant actor. It would be nice to see these types of movies again.
Kicking myself that I didn't know about this because I would have definitely gone to see the show. Very sad the show was already on and I missed it. I love Hayley Mills. She is amazing.
It was a pleasant surprise to me to have discovered that these two ladies were sisters! I've seen Juliet as the nanny in Nanny and the Professor way before I got into watching Hayley's films. And I'm glad to know now for a fact that they're sisters and what they seem great friends still together and have aged gracefully :)
Hayley Mills was an Icon of a bygone romantic era of innocence and realism. She is one of my heroes. Thank you dear... a far cry from the vulgarity of today!
julie i remember you in Avanti, it still is one of my favorites. the music the place , Ischia my sister in law had a villa there , unforgettable, great movie and cast.
Aww I haven't heard their voice in a long while. They were everywhere when I was growing up, but I have to say I cannot tell them apart. Sorry. So cute to see them here. I really want to see the actors and actresses of my youth still-who cares if they are older. WE ALL GET OLDER! Thanks for posting here.
One of the cutest things involving these two, is I saw a movie from around 1944 and it had John Mills as a man in an English village who adopted 2 orphan youngsters. The children were his real life daughters Juliet at about 4 years old and Haley at about 9 or so months. No mistaking them. I thought that was cute.
@@donnahilton471 I just tried to look it up and dont know the name of it. I only saw it once. I'm guessing it was from about 1944 to 1946. It was a b/w film. Maybe his oldest daughter got screen credit if she had lines. ? The movie "promise her anything", with Leslie Caron from 1966 had Donald Sutherland as a dad holding an infant at a baby clinic in Manhattan. The baby was about 6 months old and I'm sure it was Keifer Sutherland. Cute !
Juliet Mills was Phoebe Figalilly on Nanny & The Professor. She was an English Nanny to a widower math teacher and three kids. Hayley from Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, That Darn Cat. Their dad was the legendary Sir John Mills.
Hayley is so expressive in her speech as she experiences her life in film. You can see she was meant to be an actress. It is touching to see how people remember the films and Hayley Mills is still a part of their formative experiences. I have less experience of Juliet as she was a theatrical actress.
I have watched many of Hayley Mills very early films. Her acting was so natural even as a small child. There's no doubt she is the most talented child actor ever. I love her in The Parent Trap and Pollyanna.
Both of these ladies have always been people I have admired and looked up to. Both are great actresses who portrayed characters many of us wanted to be or grow up to be like them. They had charm and we're likeable as a friend anyone could meet in life. Much loved as a cousin, family member. Thank you.
Blimey ! What a fun interview ! THANK YOU so much uploading ! The Mills sisters are both to terrifically talented, as were their parents ! And what lovely ladies ! Watching this has MADE my day & my week ! CHEERS !! :-)
I had a drink with Hayley Mills, at a highwaymen concert in Sydney in the early 90s, seems neither of us could stand the noise of the support act. One of my childhood sweethearts
hayley looks good thankyou for many good times for me to escape from this life….your one of my favorite actors….may you live in an omboo tree forever….
Who wouldn't love these two brilliant humble ladies. I was so blessed to see Hayley in The King and I at The Kennedy Center in 1997....Breathtaking 💙💙💙
Hayley was number one for me, that is until I was aware of Juliet then in my eyes she had to move over. Juliet has a special beauty and personality that has kept me in adoration of her for years. It did not surprise me to learn recently that she has a husband many years he junior. He like me was no doubt smitten by her timeless attractiveness. I have a copy of "Avante" and play it every few months.
"Whistle Down the Wind" is just as good now as it was when it was shot in my home town those decades ago. Saw Hayley in recent years in the stage version of "Ladies in Lavender", with Belinda Lang, it was really good :-)
OMG!... I'm 54 yrs old, and I never knew these two were sisters!...I feel like I've been in a cave somewhere, or something, lol...love them both, Haley for the parent trap, and all her other great movies (loved the one with the nuns)...and Juliet for the Nanny of course, as well as her other work in TV and movies
I fell in love with Hayley Mills when I was 14. When she came to Rosebank in South Africa I was working about 200 meters away but did not know how close she was otherwise I would certainly have made an effort to see her in real life.
I think I had the Disney books mentioned in the interview. I remember the drawing of Hayley looking at the chandelier prisms. It also had Old Yeller snapping at the boy behind the barn door - that drawing terrified me.
I watched Hayley's films when I was young. Such beautiful souvenirs. She was so lovely. My favorite are Pollyanna and Parent Trap. I doesn't know if she still makes films...
Always loved all. Of Haley's movies always went to see everer moer movies and yone at the movies and I and my friends would talk about them st school. Just love h
