In regards to Lore skills. I don't particularly find them to be game breaking and I think that in the course of an adventure it would be okay to hand them out as rewards. Maybe not to all players, but one or more that impressed an NPC or interacted with something. Also, the Lores are not a concrete list, so you can make up your own, i.e. (Musician's Name) Lore. In the instance of the Ghost Choir, I think earlier on in the adventure they could find the musician's notebook. Perhaps the first person who touches or reads it has a series of hallucinations that go into the musician's past, their training, the writing of this particular song, etc. That PC is then conferred training in Music Lore or (Musician's Name Lore). And this skill can be used in the hazard later in place of performance if the party doesn't have it. If they, or another PC, have performance then perhaps them being trained in the Lore skill gives a circumstance bonus on the performance check.
