There's a theory that the reason Carmilla was able to kill a angel isn't because she is powerful or has any special weapon, but because her killing was selfless, she did it to protect the ones she loves, and it would explain why this has never happen before as well as tie in with the shows themes of redemption. I have to admit, it's kind of nice seeing a " living" caring mother in this universe.
That actually sounds plausible, I can totally see that being the case as it would play into Adam's and Heaven's prejudice against sinners and how they are incapable of redemption when in reality all they have to do is to think of others and willingly choose to be selfless to even kill an Angel. I love this theory idea and I can see it actually be canon in the show.
One thing I find kind of confusing is that they established in episode one that the hellborn got a pardon, so did her kids die as well and join her in hell? What's the backstory with that?

Roxy's right, Velvette absolutely slays. I love how she seems like an ignorant hothead at first, before showing just how cunning she is. And "Respectless" is a perfect example. The way Vel goads Carmilla into calling her out, and then basically backs her into a corner, and makes ot pretty clear Carmilla knows something about the slain angel. Vel really is "the backbone of the V's."

I was fully expecting Carmilla to be another villain, nlbut no, She's just controlling her turf like the other overlords and trying to protect her daughters. And she feels genuine guilt for causing the angels to move up the extermination. I love her character. Also, "Whatever It Takes" and "Respectless" are such incredible songs. That duet was perfection, and the fact they were both from In The Heights felt like a great callback.
I didn't expect Camilla to get so much screentime nor to get 2 songs. But I already like her character as a protective mother for her daughters and her relationship with Zestial. I’ll put this here as you guys ask about how Hells hierarchy works. At the top you have the Morningstar family. Lucifer, Lilith and Charlie. Below them is the Princes of The 7 Deadly Sins. Lucifer is one of the 7 but he is considered above the rest. The 7 are Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus and Belphagor. Below them are the Ars Goetia, Hell born royalty. You see alot more of them in Vivzie’s other show. Below that is the Sinner Overlords, such as Alastor and those at the meeting. Mortal souls that came to hell after death and gained power through ownership of other souls. Below that is standard Sinners, the general population of mortal souls that came to Hell after death. Below that is the Hell born demons such as Sucubi. And finally at the bottom is Imps and Hellhounds, Hell born demons that are considered below the rest. There you go, hope this helps👌
I wonder if Vox is going to be mad at Velvete for ruining a possible partnership with Carmilla in the angelic security project. Carmilla would decline the idea because of the possibility of an all out war between the angels if that would happen Heaven will surely rain their all out power on Hell affecting Carmilla and the safety of her family.
Probably not. For one, Vox is not in a position to boss Velvette around. I suspect if he gave her shit for it, she would give shit back. Also, i suspect they want to reduce Carmillas influence over security to corner the market.
Velvette didn`t ruined partnership with Carmilla, she created it. She is the only one who understood that Carmilla is involved in death of angel. This information can force Carmilla to obey to Vs.

I think Roxy's point about there being so many women in this show is really interesting, because I'm pretty sure it's actually pretty close to 50/50. Which does make it feel like women are over-represented because of how demographic breakdowns usually are in shows.

"Respectless" is an absolute banger of a song, definitely one of my favourites so far. I loved the guitar strumming when Carmilla chimed in, and the beat dropped, representing the juxtaposition between both perspectives of Velvette and Carmilla as Velvette represents the younger generation, and Carmilla, Zestial and even Alastor represent the older generation. Velvette is clearly overconfident and has a youthful, hotheaded energy that thinks they can fight back against the Angels, which I understand is now a likelihood. Still, Zestial and Carmilla are right that they can't jump into war too soon and risk long-term damnation, especially when Carmilla is responsible for the beheaded Angel.
There’s a really cool theory that Vaggie was an exterminator. She has a very similar body shape to how the exterminator’s are designed, she has the red X over her eye, she favors an angel’s weapon and she referred to the sinners as “your people” when talking to Charlie. That plus her drill sergeant attitude and her statement that she learned to trust on a battlefield certainly implies that she saw combat somewhere. It could be that she was an exorcist who turned for one reason or another.
I absolutely love hearing Maribel Madrigal cussing and being so militant 😂 Also if I’m correct Carmine is Hellborn, which means her and her children were born in hell, and are pardoned from the extermination. And when the angel came after her kids, she did what she had to to protect them. I just love that this show (and Helluva Boss, which btw Day 2 of asking) subverts expectations and has people that are actually pretty good living in hell.

I'm really not sure why you guys think the dead angel was planted. The whole drama since ep 1 is an impending extermination of demons exactly because they somehow killed an exorcist.
they said during the first episode that they think the exorcist was killed by angels to give them an excuse to finish the genocide the next time they arrive. they know the impending extermination has to do with the dead exorcist, they just theorize that it wasn’t actually killed by a demon. edit: Adam’s lack of surprise at the news of the dead exorcist (juxtaposed with the assistant who seems to be pretty concerned) is the most prominent sign that maybe it was an inside job.

I’m beginning to speculate that Alastor is able to see the 4th wall and that he’s aware that we are his audience. The pilot and most of his comments has me guessing that. It would even explain the static effect whenever he’s mad or excited. I’d even go so far to say he may be aware when the camera is viewing him.
You guys should really watch Helluva Boss if you want to understand more about the hierarchy of Hell, plus it has more action and is just as funny as Hazbin Hotel.

Exterminators blade cannot kill Charlie and 7th Deadly Sins. Maybe even 9 Ars Goetia king like Paimon. Hellborn kind like Sucubus, Imps, hellhound, Ars Goetia,... have just pardon. Lute with Adam say that she and them has pardon. Carmila Carmine from these blades is making weapons like Blessed rope or guns which Strikers has.
That is what I was saying. They can be killed but they have pardon so exterminators cannot go after them. They only killing sinners and overlords. But maybe 9 king of Ars Goetia like Paimon are more powerfull so they cannot by killed or can who know.
A quick explanation of Vaggie, she was supposed to go to heaven but got sent to hell specifically to be by Charlie's side as a guard. Because Charlie has such a pure soul but is stuck in hell and technically Vaggie killed someone in self defense.
Charlie is very stressed, her timeline has been cut in half and she HAS to prove that her concept for the hotel can work, plus there is a serious hint that the paper she signed in the heaven embassy allowed them to move up the timeline, so she is probably feeling a little guilty too. She is stressed, so she might not be showing her love to Vaggie at peak levels right now. I think Charlie adores Vaggie, because otherwise she wouldn't have been A) So concerned when Vaggie was like "what's the point of me?" and B) So hurt when Vaggie brushed her off saying she wanted to be alone. They LIVE together in the same apartment in episode 1.
13:00 It’s funny that you mention the rock opera aspect during Carmilla’s section, as she’s voiced by Daphne Rubin Vega who is best known for having originated the role of Mimi in Rent on Broadway, which is a rock musical… this show has a lot of very talented Broadway people involved :)
So the way the social hierarchy works is that Hell operates under a very strict caste system. At the very bottom are Hell born races with Hellhounds and Imps being considered the lowest members of society, often seen as little more than animals. After them are the various Hell born demons that make up the 7 rings of Hell (each one that makes up one of the 7 sins). Then you have the Earth born Sinners, who are fully immortal unless actively killed by another Sinner. Then you have the Overlords, which are Sinners who have acquired enough souls to their service to where they can rule over the 9 circles of the Pride Ring. Then you have the Ars Goetia, which are the noble demon lords who are essentially the royal class of Hell. Then you have the 7 Princes of Hell, fallen angels who oversee the 7 Rings of Hell. And lastly you have the Morningstar Family, with Lucifer as the King of all Hell.
Fun fact! (Idk if you guys knew) but alastor was a serial killer and one day when he was going to meet his next victim in the woods a deer hunter mistook him for a deer, which is why he has deer features and is probably why he eats them, cause he’s spiteful

So the next episode touches on some really harsh subjects so a trigger warning might be in order at the start of the video So here's how raising in ranks works(Supposedly, we don't have ALL the information yet): Only sinners can rise in rank, to the rank of Overlords(Everyone in that scene except the egg is an overlord) and they way they rise in power is to gain souls. A sinner can do anything they want to get more souls. Lie, cheat, steal, make deals, make alliances, it's all fair game. Now we don't know if a sinner can start with a certain level of power or not depending on what they did in life. For example we know Alastor was a mass murderer in life and when he manifested in hell he already had a lot of power so it's sort of unclear if him being a mass murderer had anything to do with it or not but yeah, that's how it works
Everyone loves Alastor but I'm loving Zestial cuz of his Shakespearean form of speaking & since he's the oldest Overlord in Hell not to mention his (possibly romantic relationship) with Carmilla, his tactical mind & just how he's respected/feared by everyone

when you guys mentioned this show had to many women characters, Vivienne actually stated somewhere that in Hazbin hotel they’re more focused on women characters, and in Helluva boss the spinoff show they focused more on male characters
there are a lot of woman shown so far but if you've seen every episode of hazbin hotel and helluva boss the amount of male sinners is gigantic as much as females

I am inclined to believe that Vaggie is a converted Exterminator - a cross on her eye, a military bearing, an angelic weapon, but most importantly - her words to Charlie and her song. She speaks and reasons like a real angel, as they should be - guardians and protectors, guiding on the true path. (Regarding the ending of the song - it was just a transition; if you look carefully, you can see that Carmilla has a different view outside the window. Most likely, she and Vaggie would simply have one motive - to protect someone dear). There are similarities, but Vaggie's eyes are a different color, whereas red and white irises are a Carmain family trait. There is a moment in the song where Velvet appears in the same shot with Carmilla and her daughters, and it is clear that they have the same eye color. Plus, Velvet has white yarn in her hair that is obviously dyed and wears earrings just like Carmilla. In addition, at some point in the third episode, I got the feeling that the confrontation between Carmila and Velvet reflects not only the conflict of generations (old versus new), but also the conflict of parents and children. In particular, in their song, Carmila chastises Velvet as a strict mother to a rebellious daughter. And at the end, you generally get the feeling that Carmilla is going to say: “Come on, go to the room, young lady!”)) And in the moments when they are shown together in the frame, their (family?) resemblance becomes visible. In any case, Velvet has the same eyes as Carmila and her daughters - red, with a white iris, which can be considered weak evidence of their family connection.
Spoilers..... But I just realized Vaggie reveals herself in this episode because she tells Charlie "how many times do we have to watch your people be killed"
Overlords get their status by owning souls of sinners and making deals The more souls an overlords has the more powerful they are or if they own a powerful soul they could also gain lots of power which is why Alastor wanted to make a deal with Charlie in the pilot he wants her soul because she’s the princess of hell

Just 2 quick corrections 1rst: they Portrait equal ammounts of male and female characters quite successful 2nd: even if anyone despite the joke still thinks there should be less women than man (for some reason), it wouldn’t indicate anything else then that they are in general better at surviving against a genocidal overpowering force (the angels) and that’s a good thing no matter how you want to twist it
