People think Alastor is a good guy, even though he made it clear why he was there since the start, and other thing, if he truly thinks of Charlie as a friend why would he take advantage of her emotional moment to make a deal on how to kill angels in exchange of a favor, he could've make it without all the deal thing if he was her friend
Al may love to watch others struggle and fail but that’s just a coverup for why he’s really here, I think he’s only boing all this is because of his deal with Lily and Charlie is the key to his chains Although I still think he had grown a bit of a soft spot for her
I know he smiles all the time. And he did get a lot of Souls for himself to. And he can never be seen on TV to. But in all the Episodes of Hazbin Hotel that I saw. He did really help. So he is a good friend to trust.
My personal guess is that he has his own agenda, and of course he will want to use his deal with Charlie in some way to gain freedom from whoever or whatever is holding him in chains. But I don't think he will be a true antagonist. Vivienne loves his character too much for that. Also, I think he does like Charlie, and thinks of her as a friend (in his own twisted way). And I also believe he will get some sort of redemption arc over the course of the show. And of course, we will definitely see him NOT smiling at some point.
