He is so funny and his design is so cool. I can understand not liking him because of what he does to Angel though, but even in that case, I think he makes an interesting villain and plot for Angel.

i hate val, but i love the way joel perez made him sound, the accent, the sass, the way he sounds when he gets violent, but especially the manipulative way he sounds when he says “you actually think you can change? added trash like you doesn’t change.” ITS MAGNIFICENT THE WAY THAT SOUNDS even though it’s a terrible situation. Joel has a great vocal acting range.
Also those lines at the bar where he says I'll make you a star... Porn start, bring me a drink or I'll fucking kill you are ad libs and SO FUNNY, they might be my favorites

I feel like the reason so many people hate him but love Alistair is because there's a HUGE chance you know someone who's been sexually abused or you are someone who's experienced it. But you probably don't know someone who's been murdered, much less cannibalized. Yes, murder is high but that's like a 1/10 chance of knowing someone compared to like a 1/2 chance because of how often and intimate the crime is. You can know someone who's been murdered but you can't experience it like you can with SA on top of knowing someone who's been through it. We see our abuser through Valentino or we see our loved one who's been abused through AngelDust.
I love and hate the fact how when he was sending voice messages to angel he started nice then to mean then nice then to mean over and 9ver to show how controlling he is to angel by trying to make it seem like he cares then blow up then trying to make it seem like he is the only one angel can trust and will love him.

Valentino is perhaps the scariest character in this show, because people like that are very real! Val is worse then his business partners in the V’s. Not everyone is a media mogul (Vox), or a Social Media expert (Velvet), but there are tons of abusive pimps in real life like Val.

Yes we all know he is terrible, but he is still so funny, everything he says is funny and makes me laugh, even when he's threatening plp or insulting. The VA carries him for me.

A small, but meaningful detail: in episode 4, Val put that ethereal collar on Angel's neck, while they were IN the studio, but in episode 6, while they were elsewhere, he put it on Angel's wrist. It really symbolizes that he doesn't have control (at least not full control) over Angel anywhere outside the studio, which is why he lost his shit when Angel moved to the hotel.
The sound effects here are really good. I LOVE valentino I can't get enough of him, don't judge me everyone who hates valentino, I agree that you guys have every reason to though. But there is one thing that I never really understood how people can tell that valentino is a moth.
Honestly...I'm surprised what grinds Hazbin Hotel fans' gears this much is a pimp being a pimp. It can't be the fact he owns a soul, because Alastor owns lots of souls being an overlord. Like, he literally swiped Vox’s phone out of his hand and threw it against a wall, a wall, mind you, that was a bit far from where they were standing, so hard that it shattered like glass, all in one movement. Not only that, but he shoved Angel so hard that the chair literally almost tipped over, and he literally PICKED Angel up off the ground BY HIS ROBE, and then forcefully threw him to the ground. Like, that is some scary ass strength.
