It's so cool to see the evolution of your work!

Thanks. My soldering has certainly improved in that time. 😂

Super cool to see how this started. So many small steps to end up with what you have today. Nice work Troy.

Totally fab job.. we both independently made a 6502 based MSX kind of machine!🤓👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I wrote a fast integer language for mine with lots of graphics commands.. might be portable to your machine one day!

Had a look at your D flat demos. They look fantastic. Nice work.

Love it! From disorder to a very neat project. I'm still very much at the disordered stage. I have designed TTL computer with 80 odd instructions - got fed up with soldering and so decided to 'build' it on an FPGA.

Thanks. Nice one! I have built a breadboard CPU too - got it to run Snake. I haven't ventured into FPGA's yet, but I'm very keen to try... soon! :)

Hey mate, how can I buy this entire kit (backboard and all boards) assembled and working?

wow, the TMS9918 actually looks really capable!

Once you work around its quirks, it's quite capable, yeah.

Hey Troy - re the sound card and the ay-3-8910. Every video I've seen / article I've read suggests connecting the ay-3-8910 via a 6522 due to the speed of the PSG. This then makes programming the PSG cumbersome. . A video explaining the sound card design / decode logic (especially with a focus on the GAL / PLD) plus any possible timing issues you had to overcome would be very usful. Thanks

Sure. I'll get there eventually. 😁 I haven't had any issues up to 4MHz CPU clock.

love it. are you going to sell kits?

Thanks. I don't think so. But, never say never I guess... Everything will be in the GitHub repo, so anyone would be able to build their own that way. Or, port my software to their builds.

I'll bet you could. Start small. One thing leads to another...

Just watched this again. How did you mount that ROM socket on the breadboard?
@TroySchrapel
@TroySchrapel 2 года назад
Using a dodgy stack of pin headers. Turned pin headers first, then female dupont headers plugged into that, then the ZIF socket plugged into that. Super sketch, but worked pretty well.

this is really impressive. this reminds me of: any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. imagine the same but with some sci-fi-like parts.. like if it drives some transparent oled
