I speak english with a friend (who's first language is Spanish as well as mine) and it's not awkward, so I don't think it would be for these guys

why though? I'm German and study at a German university but my study program is international hence all classes are taught in English. When I have to do oral exams or stuff I have to do them in English with german speaking profs so I dont get an unfair advantage.
