I am in the process of register for the CNA to LVN transitional program..and so far it seems okay...They have credited me for my pre-requisites for A/P and Nutrition classes that I previously took and I did not have to pay $65 for the TEAS test because I took the HESI and passed. So I am all set for August 2013 to start..I don't put my faith in people or man-made things...but I have faith in God that he will see me through...and whatever is not right, God will turn it around for my good.
Whoaaa you had me until you said you don't like Texas. Ill give you the faults against HCC but Texas no ma'am . Houston is not for the faint of heart just like LA or NYC. Don't take your one bad experience at HCC and pass off a bogus opinion on Houston or the state of TEXAS.
I was in the ota program at hcc starting in the fall of 2012. The original director of the program passed away in the summer of 2012. The program was left with 1teacher to oversee everything. The teacher told us many many times not to worry about grades. I made a mistake on my practical so I basically failed that class. Other people in the class made mistakes and they got chances to improve. She never told us our test grades, however, she did say that I did good on them after that fact that I already failed because of the practicals. I was able to retake the class again but decided to just quit because of lack of interest. I am so glad that teacher does not work at hcc anymore. She once told the whole class that we were her worst group of students, we basically taught our selfs. I knew in my heart I should have not gone back. I will never go back to that school ever again.
I really appreciate you opinion. I got accepted into the program and was to start on Monday. I DONT have the time to waste nor the money on a program that will not benefit me in the long run.I will be considering another school...thanks
Now you know if there was a problem I would not pursue it. I have been credited my prerequisites and I am all clear to start in August 2013 I will even be graduating sooner because of the CNA to LVN transition program. When I registered...everyone was nice and helpful and even giving me helpful hints....They personally gave me a tour of the classrooms and labs that we will be working in. The simulation day was 4/3/2013 and they gave me permission to work with them...it was very educating.
I am so sorry that you experienced that! It really isn't fair. It should be obvious to the program director and other administrators that if less than 50% of the students actually graduate, that something is wrong. You and I started our LPN/LVN programs at the same time, and the same thing was happening with my class. Many people were failing the exams, except our NCLEX questions come from a "test bank". Those threatened with failing raised some hell until they made an effort to help our class
well sorry for the bad experience but I am excelling at hcc. I learned some tricks to get by. Always always always review your professors before you enroll. You are paying for a product which is college? why not check out the review for this product before making the decision? Also do heavy research for the field you are entering in. Now a days they nurses need bachelor's degrees. The two year AAS isn't what it use to be because medical here in Houston is the number one right up there with oil and energy so it's competitive. I wish we could have crossed paths I would have been a good mentor for you at HCC.
HCC system has been flooded with tons of new students. The administrative paperwork has doubled, mistakes in paperwork happen. Sorry for your experience. Hospitals are phasing out LVN positions. You want to be on the RN track for hospital employment. LVNs end up working at rest homes. FYI
I know they are and that fine but weed me out based on me not having the knowledge to pass dont weed people out because you dont teach them or give them the skills to pass. ... And even if the happen to read enough and comprehend the material (Like me) ask foolish questions on the exams like "What disease do birds cause? pneumonia being the incorrect correct answer. ...
HCC is a f*** ass school! I currently go there now but ONLY ONLY for my pre reqs I am going into St Philips (or another community college) to do Invasive Cardiovascular Technology. Where are your endeavors now?@keziah
Duh!! LVNs are getting phased out!! Why did you even waste your time? Plus if you are going to rant please use spell check! It's Coleman College!!! If you're going to talk about somebody you need to have your game tight!
