David Letterman has long been a great and ardent supporter of Bluegrass/Acoustic music on his show. And to see the wonderful Alan Jackson going to Bluegrass to get away from what passes for "Country " the past several years , is gratifying indeed. Anything Alan Jackson does is outstanding in my book. Thanks to David and Alan. And thanks for this upload.
Years ago, our teenage daughter asked us to VCR tape David Letterman because Alan Jackson was going to be on. Well, we watched it! He sang "Summertime Blues". Next time I recorded him, It was for ME!!! 🤠
ALAN JACKSON, VOCÊ TÊM UMA PRESENÇA LINDA, POIS CANTA PARA NOS ENCANTAR; ESSE É O ESTILO DE MÚSICA QUE TOCA PROFUNDAMENTE MEU CORAÇÃO, POIS ME DÁ VONTADE DE SAIR CORRENDO NA CHUVA COM OS CABELOS AO VENTO E MOLHADO... AMOR NA CHUVA E NO VERÃO!!!!!
I feel like had this album of Alan's been released in say, '94, it wouldn't even have been categorized as bluegrass, but another great country album. This album is the closest thing to country these days than anything. Love Alan Jackson.
I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you here. This is straight up good old bluegrass and it would be considered as such no matter what the release date is. There's really nothing country music about it... it's 100% good old acoustic bluegrass baby!
@@BluegrassBanter I purchased this album when it came out, but have never commented on it until now. As a lifelong bluegrass fan, songwriter, and player, I can tell you that only 3-4 songs on "The Bluegrass Album" are actually bluegrass. Most of the rest are bluegrass-tinged country songs, and the remainder barely have any bluegrass traction at all. That said, "Blacktop" is a legitimate bluegrass song. So is "There Is A Time," by the Dillards, and, of course, the great classic "Blue Moon of Kentucky" written and made famous by the Bill Monroe, the founding father of bluegrass music. "Long Hard Road" is another solid bluegrass song on this album. Some like "Tie Me Down" have strong bluegrass musical elements, but are more straight country songs.
