I remember seeing this on tv and it has stayed in my memory since that time. Everything about her seemed to embody the song - the gauzy lavender dress, her flowing hair, the fluidity and freedom of her movements. Perfectly expressing the freedom and abandon of a butterfly's flight. I prefer it to the muscular, technical style of skating.

Just simple and beautiful! Although Lu Chen only finished a 3T, the easiest triple jump, a 2A, and a 2L here, this is still a very nice performance. Look how elegant she is and how beautiful her arms and fingers are when interpreting this nice song "Butterfly" by Mariah Carey. I am very glad that Lulu got a second Olympic bronze medal as an end of her successful competition career after all these she's been through.

A major accomplishment for Chen Lu winning the bronze, considering the enormous struggle she went through in 1997.

Effortlessly elegant and beautiful across the ice. I loved her minimalist style of movements that seem simple but somehow always perfectly expresses the music and gives all the feels.

Why is Mariah Carey's butterfly song playing. It was the Chinese butterfly much better than Mariah.

Mariah’s butterfly is a classic in RnB history. clearly Chen Lu like this very much. this is the exhibition show not the competition.

Ladies' skating is now all about quads and that horrible Bielman spin. No artistry: where are the beautiful spirals like Sasha Cohen or the lovely laybacks like Sarah Hughes ? Sorry but jumping with hands over the head does not count as artistry.
