I love all these videos you're doing, it's really good to see someone who can give us a good understanding of these low notes. I was wondering then if you've heard of Nic Val? From what I understand he's in the Guinness book of records for how deep his voice is and is regularly hitting triple low C's. Might be something interesting for you to have a look at in the future? Keep up the good work anyhow!
I may be mistaken, but, to me, most of his low notes below Bb1 sound more like an inverse fry. If that isn't the case, what's producing that odd noise?
In this video, yes, although in ACA-Disney and White Christmas he chests a G1, but I'm pretty sure this video came out before them. Still an incredible vocalist and solid bass voice. :)
That A4 was shouting, thou it'ss kinda a little mixed. But the new A4 in Little Mermaid Medley isn't, that one is his highest 100% legit chest. *BUT*. The main criterion of voicetype classification isn't just the range, but also the timbre. And Geoff in this video really is lying closer to bass-baritone rather than true bass, but nowadays Geoff is a high bass with insane range
Yes but a bass-baritone is a category that includes high basses and low baritones. Of course some bass-baritones I think are baritones, such as Johnny Cash, but other bass-baritones such as Paul Robeson are basses. So Geoff Castellucci may not fit perfectly into the category of a bass because he can sing baritone just fine if he wants to, but overall I think he's still a bass.
Alberto Maracheski Oh, he slides. Sorry, I didn't notice because I used headphones when I first watched this. Played this on my TV to find it, and boy did I.
+Leo Joey it depends if it a girl does its the same thing but more feminine and male its more well in a way bassy well in a way girls can have kinda bassy things too like me
C2 is not high, if you can Hit a good full and loud chest C2 then you would be counted as a good bass. Hitting any lower than that with a good intensity in chest would mean your a basso profundo. and an octavist should be able to hit down to a full octave lower than a normal bass meaning C1 in chest. ive never heard anybody hit lwer than a C1 in chest, but if anybody can, they are crazy.
I think that he is more of a baritone. His town isn't as deep as Avi Kaplan or Tim Foust. He kind of bottoms out on a Bb1. That is the last note that he sounds good on. His G1s are really croaky and gross whenever he doesn't use his throat technique.
if you listen to it carefully he is way better than avi kaplan in case of range. and baritone? pfft maybe bass barritone(bassitone lol). and about tom foust, yes he is at the same level at geoff but tim has a higher voice and fits more like a barritone ( even tough he is a bassitone lol)
My new theory with Tim is that his lowest chest note is actually around a C2. I've listened to multiple live performances of him trying to hit a B1 and even when he slides down to it he has to like "find" the note if that makes sense. I honest;y think he just mastered the fry/chest mix. It sounds good, don't get me wrong, but he just does not have the solidarity that Avi has. With Geoff it is the same with the exception that he does a growl/chest mix. That's exactly what it sounds like. I mean come on... Listen to that G1. It is not chest in anyway and it sounds pretty bad. It's basically like this. Avi is a true Basso Profundo with a nice warm/dark timbre and is able to dance around in the first octave in complete chest. Tim is a lower baritone who found the best way to lower his range and make it sound like a "true" bass. Geoff is simply a higher bass singer who bottoms out at Bb1. Ever notice how his sing off Bb1 sounds weaker than Avi's G#1's? So yeah. Enough of this "Avi doesn't have nearly as wide of a range as these two do!" He sticks to true chest range and STILL sings as low as them and sounds much better. P.S. For people that don't know, a Basso Profundo is someone who can sing the contra-octave with power (in chest). Which Avi can do. So yes, he is a Basso Profundo.
+Zach McCartney damn i have to agree with you about tim and geoff. but isnt avi's g#1 is a growl? and i think geoff's g1 i more powerfull than his. but yeah i fully agreed with you that avi kaplan has mastered the bass thing more than the other two.
