Welcome aboard the Metro A Line (Blue)! This train's final destination is 7th Street/Metro Center in Downtown LA.
Recently I had the chance to film out the 'railfan window' looking into the cab of the Nippon Sharyo P2020 LRV from the origination point of Downtown Long Beach to the train's final destination of 7th Street/Metro Center. As the Nippon Sharyo P2020s are about to retire within the following weeks, I figured it was appropriate to upload the return trip of my previous cab ride, this time filmed in car 162B which has the loudest horn of all the P2020s. Thanks for watching and enjoy the sights, sounds, and exhilaration of riding through cities such as Long Beach, Carson, Compton, Willowbrook, South LA, Vernon, and Downtown LA featuring the use of the high horn and traveling at speeds of up to 55mph!

Good video. This does show, though, the problems with building rail on the cheap in Los Angeles. The Blue Line is slow, as much of it is like a tram, as it shares the streets with cars and crosses intersections. An hour each way from Long Beach to Downtown is tiring. I wish when this was built the planners dug up some extra money, so it could have its own right-of-way. It should have been elevated for the entire distance, with none of it going down the middle of streets. :/
@brushcreek42
@brushcreek42 3 года назад
The cost of elevating it would have been enormous as would having its own right of way the entire distance. All the traffic lights should be timed so the train doesn't have to stop for lights.
@quanta2k
@quanta2k 2 года назад
I agree this should’ve been made elevated or a subway. They’re making a light rail line in the San Fernando valley connecting the orange line to the Sylmar station which is why I looked up this video to see what it would be like and yeah this is way too slow. Metro should do better than light rail. LA needs subways

A better (and FAR more cost-effective) solution to the long travel time is to simply synchronize the traffic signals and link them into the trains’ GPS system so that they all turn green when a train is approaching so trains never have to stop at intersections between stations. This would greatly reduce travel times (especially in the median-running portion of the line) and would allow trains to run more frequently, efficiently, and predictably. Plenty of other cities around the world have implemented this transit signal priority, from Canberra to Portland, Dallas to Seattle, so it’s definitely not something out of reach for LACMTA to implement. It would cost virtually nothing and would produce drastically improved travel times, for both car drivers and transit riders.

They’re making a light rail line here in the San Fernando valley. I was worried this was going to be slow and it is. Looks slower than a regular bus smh. Light rail should be elevated it should not be in the middle of the road. Los Angeles needs subways this is why no one takes public transportation the distances are just too great.

Yeah but I mean like a direct train... like in Paris with the Transilien so maybe people could get to the center city without car or without spending like 1 hour in the train

The closest we have so far is the Green Line's extension to Santa Fe Spring Station, the Goldine Foothill extension projection extending to Montclair Station in San Bernardino County, and the new San Fernando Valley light rail line being planned to replace the Orange Rapid Bus Line. Hopefully someday.

All of Metro's yards are at max capacity after receiving all 235 P3010s.
@jeffreychan9476
@jeffreychan9476 3 года назад
@@LARailProductions well there are number of factors that contribute to max capacity at the yard. There are currently running about half of the capacity (12-15mins instead of 6mins) on weekdays, which lead many railcars being stored at the yard. If you notice that all gold line and select blue and expo line trains are running two cars instead of three, one car only in the East LA section, and that put the more railcars at the yard. Lastly the regional connector and the Crenshaw line will be opening this year and next year, will they have enough vehicles to run all three cars train when they open? I truly think that Metro wants to get rid of them, max capacity is just an excuse. Remember they didn't have enough vehicles to support gold line and expo line extension on 2016 resulting limited capacity and crowded trains.
