Petrenko spoke English quite well even back then, so I assume he did. Oksana, probably not everything, as during her victory interview, she still needed Viktor to translate for her

1-2-3 o’clock, 4 o’clock rock is not a complicated concept lol and a lot of people the world over study English so they got the gist for sure. Oksana was new to learning English at that time, but I’m sure the words of Jive Bunny were not difficult to grasp.

Same! This will forever be my favorite figure skating performance. It makes me grin every single time I see it. I still have the VHS tape when I recorded it in 94. 😃

but it's logic that men jump higher than women, because they're physically stronger. That's why, for example, women still don't jump quads and triple axels, except very few of them who did it, of course. So, I suppose that even without injury Oksana's jumps wouldn't be higher than Viktor's, since she was a teenage girl compared to a grown-up man

@@daretodream9765 a year later, a 14 yr old girl jumps a quad....Alyssa at Nationals 2020. But Oksana was stunning and had such joy when she skated. She will always hold a special place in my heart!!

@@freddiemercury4evr Alyssa is not the first girl to do a quad. Our Russian girls Alexandra Trusova and Anna Scherbakova already jump them on the regular basis

I still have my VHS tape of this also, because I loved it so much. I've still got a VCR, but need a new conversion cable for HDMI. My bunny chewed the last one. Lol! But this still ranks as my favorite figure skating performance ever!

I believe it included a backflip. I really wish I could find Viktor's solo performance from this. Any way, it's so cool that someone else taped this and watched it over and over. I think it's my favorite too.

She had a sad life after this. She developed an alcohol addiction and was also plagued by injuries, made worse by her managers forcing her to return to the ice before she was fully healed. Her US management agency also defrauded her of nearly all her money. Today she is sober and lives in the US with her husband and daughter.

She was the headliner on all the tours for the next two or three years. I'm certain the new found attention and fame, combined with her very difficult childhood, fueled the fire of her becoming apparently a huge diva did I imagine was quite difficult to deal with. Alcoholism, DUI's, car crashes, all that stuff. But this little girl got paid and was the top billing attraction out there at the time. And yes probably through her own poor decision making and vultures disguised as artist management, millions of dollars probably left her hands. Or maybe it never got to her hands. But it happened.... This was also 30 years ago. I think she kind of stopped skating almost 20 years ago. I mean so she had a good run. it was just a long time ago. Tonya and Nancy returned to the spotlight with the I Tonya movie. But no one else of that era is still professionally skating. It's really just perspective.

This isn't the actual competition, this is just the exhibition show that they put on at the end of the Olympics just for fun. Oksana and Viktor only put this together the day before. They did pretty well for only one days rehearsal

They are not pairs skaters. They did this number with very little rehearsal and were great. It was done all in fun.

It was put a day before. As in they only had 1 day to practice the routine. This was for fun. They actually did good considering the short timeline
