Charles was far from perfect and a bad husband to diana but he was an present father and did try to avoid the coldness of his own childhood. Diana said it herself, he was a wonderful father. He let william had his sabatical and let him wed outside of the realms of arranged marriages, unlike his own case. I think diana would be pleased with that.
Such a beautiful family. I am not angry at Charles because he was in love with another woman. I am angry at him for mistreating Diana. He needed to not marry her in the first place, abdicate the throne, and marry Camilla. At the very least, he needed to extricate himself from Diana early on instead of dragging her through the pain and turmoil that he did. That is one selfish man.

Both Diana and Charles did an amazing job at raising their boys. Their boys grew up up to become great men. Both William and Harry have a family of their own now and they are wonderful fathers. My hats goes off to Diana and Charles.

Well, because Charles was a cheater who didn't even have the decency to PRETEND he wasn't cheating. That's kind of a big deal to a young woman like his first wife was. She was expected to just put up with it and who wants to put up with a cheating partner? That caused a lot of friction, a LOT of misery, and as a result, the divorce. Had none of that happened and Charles had been willing to sacrifice lust for the sake of his JOB, then all of them would still be together. He couldn't do it. He HAD to have Camilla. And he certainly cared more about HER than he did his real wife and children. Diana was the one who had the kids most of the time, she was the one who did normal parental things with them while Charles was off talking to plants or wishing he was Camilla's tampon. Essentially, she was a single mother from the moment those boys were born. Quite unfair to her to be used for breeding purposes, like a horse. Charles treated her like dirt.
