I agree with everything you say up until after the De La Hoya fight. Since he fought DLH the competition has not been the best fighters available that would give him the best competition. Now he's fought the big names but but there were better fights available. I think he killed his rep when he retired when Cotto and Williams were undefeated 147 champs and stys gone until they lose

I think Martinez and Mayweather could be something big. If there's one thing people want to see, it's Mayweather losing, as much as I'd hate it. Mind anyone that's not to say Martinez would beat Mayweather, I'm just saying it would be a fight with great potential.

One thing I hate about some boxing fans is the necessity to support a fighter and hate other fighters. This sport is not like football, you can "support" more than one fighter. Martinez is an excellent fighter and so is Mayweather, and yes, both are exciting to watch.

It'd be a good fight. I'm not jumping up to say it is an easy win for Martinez. I think it'd be a competitive fight. I like Mayweather he's unique. I think in order for Mayweather to seal a legacy should fight the best right now. I'd be disappointed to see a Mayweather vs. Bradley fight anyway. At 154, Martinez vs Mayweather would be a great showdown. Martinez has a nasty left hand and Mayweather a nasty right hand. They both have insane accuracy and they're both slick boxers.

LOL ducking Andre Ward who is pushing to be a light heavyweight(175) haha. He is also ducking the Klitschko brothers. Even Andre Ward admitted Martinez is way too small for him. Andre will destroy Martinez at 168 but Martinez has never fought at that weight class or has two belts in it :(. Floyd, on the other hand, has two belts at 154 and he's too scared to fight a "drained" Martinez? Doesn't sound like a champion to me at all... Anyway, Martinez makes 154 easy.

A well established and consolidated argument, Victor. Unfortunately, preferences are made in any sport. I can say the same thing about football. I can like two teams. You can't possibly 'hate' a person that's a fan of just one pugilist in boxing. People have an option to pick one or pick a variety of them. In fact, you can love every single fighter in the world! Mayweather Jr? Oh he's pretty exciting to watch. I almost made it to the 5th Cotto round without sleeping. He punches with a bunch of feathers in his glove or something. Dodges, counters, ducks, runs. His opposition is shit. He lost to Castillo in his first bout and every Mayweather fan knows it. Did you see how De La Hoya's face was at the end of the Mayweather bout? It was clean. He can't even knock someone out cold when they're not even looking.

Yes, he is simply put amazing in the ring. I have to hand it to Chavez Jr, though, for showing a lot of courage as well. I wouldn't believe he'd be able to sustain a beating for that long, but that kid really must try hard in contrast to what 24/7 depicted him to be. I'm glad he took the fight as well. Martinez is the closest thing to Roy Jones Jr. now so that's why he's my favorite fighter at the moment. :-) Much respect to him for winning that title again!

He won't be fighting in the middle weight division if the bout took place... Floyd has two belts at 154 and Sergio Martinez can make that weight. Sergio has fought there for 2/3s of his career. By the way, Victor Ortiz was 168 pounds on fight night when he fought Floyd. Some boxers just choose to re hydrate 20 pounds on fight night. Roy Jones, for example did the same thing :p

Just to add on. Martinez started his career late so, it seems as if he is in his prime. We won't know the severity of the knee until his next fight and even with a bad knee, I don't see Floyd saying much about fighting him. Who cares if Martinez was dropped by stone gloves & a 190 pound man who saved his energy until the last minute and still couldn't finish him off.

Va a ser como Manny Pacquiao vs Margarito, creo. Estoy seguro de que Manny Pacquiao / Mayweather habría tenido lugar si no fuera por Bob Arum, pero aún así, no me parece demasiado interesante la lucha más porque Manny y Floyd ya son demasiado viejos y fuera de su mejor momento.
