HD - Thunderbolt 1000T Siren Test - Cedar Hill, TX - Fire Station 212

These are two videos I shot of the station 212 Thunderbolt on July 3rd, 2013. They test it the first Wednesday of the month at 2:00pm.
Sorry if the sound is a bit distorted, the siren did a pretty effortless job of overloading my camera's microphone :)
The first video was shot with a Canon EOS 5d Mark II, and the second with my handy dandy iPhone.

The siren heard just before the Thunderbolt was an ambulance that left the station moments before activation. The ambulance driver was yelling "get ready, they're about to set 'er off" as they drove away

Why do they replace Thunderbolts even if they are working? ,I like T-128s but i don't get it ,if the Tbolts work why replace them if they work ,so what if there old. they just keep being removed day after day after day all around the world geez ,damn EMA.

T-128s have battery back up. Thunderbolts do not. So in a tornado if AC is cut the bolt won't sound. If the AC is cut for the T-128 DC (batteries) kick in and keep the siren running even in power outages.

Often times, municipalities that switch to a trunked system for transmitting alert signals to the siren, have to replace older models simply because the radio receivers on the sirens themselves are incompatible with trunked systems.

This siren has the massive 5m blower. That is the punchiest wind up and attack I have ever heard.

Alertec2202 hate to break it to you, but this was a C-series model and as such it had a vertically oriented 4M blower. Siren was installed in 1985, replaced in 2016 by a T-128.

Nah it's either a 4M or a C-Series blower. I can tell by the sound.

I know there's a thunderbolt 1003 in Stevenson Washington at the fire station I'm not sure if it is active still. if it is still active, I'm going to go see it and take a video of it...
