When I was stationed in Germany way back from 1961-1964 I was part of a 8 man emergency team. We would go out and repair diesel gen sets. We had one of these trucks to drive and it had a canvas top, straight six engine and four speed trannie. Of course it did not come with a heater so we got permission to install a MWO heater kit. We mounted it on the left from fender and it kept us nice and warm on those miserable cold winter days. I put 30,000 miles on the one I drove. I wish I had it today but sadly I had to leave it behind. It was very, very reliable.
Back in 1969, I went through AIT at Ft. Devens, MA. We had to train on the old MLQ-24 system, which was mounted in a metal housing on one of these trucks. I think I drove one once just to show that I could take it out on and off road, set up the system, and run the generator that powered up the equipment. I don't remember much about the truck, but I used parts of the system in Berlin, when I got there in 1970. Interesting times in this old guy's life.
My father once owned one of these bad boys.It wasn`t as good in shape as this one cause it was used for going into the woods for hunting in central Louisiana.
