Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker repelled a stubborn Leon Willings to take an eight-round points win on the Fabio Wardley vs Frazer Clarke undercard at the O2 Arena in London.
Although he is not what you would call an orthodox boxer, you can tell from the sharpness of his movements and the way his body is focused that he has been seriously devoting himself to training. He knows how to make boxing matches appealing as entertainment, and he is a great boxer with star quality.
When you are actually great, you are not cocky.... what you see is greatness... Leon is tough and strong... Whittaker needs a little more power and he will truly be devastating... Great Fight!
It's not even about the reflexes or speed but his ability to read punches and his timing. There will come a time he gets an opponent who's not so predictable and with him - trouble. Remember that this is how Nazeem got erased.
It's way too soon to tell whether this guys going to get right to the top but working on the fact that he's an Olympic silver medalist alone gives it a lot of credibility I'd say.
Boxing is entertainment, the press conference and all that. If my DJ is not animated, he takes entertainment out of the music. Whittaker is an entertainer, I love it.
Boxing is an art. Somw people are sweet in boxing, some are knock out artist defense artisit. This is just another form of boxing. Dont know why people saying hes coky when hes clearly out boxing and knocking them out and their supposed to be 'uncocky boxers' smh
Some people would say Whittaker is a showboater, a clown, maybe even a heckler.. hell, THE heckler of boxing. He is brazenly unorthodox, almost arrogant, but with the swagger of the drunken master and the surgical poise and precision of a samurai. He's got an excellent and crowd-pleasing career ahead of him, but he better be careful. Somebody is gonna catch him, or out swagger him. Don't play with your food. There's always a bigger fish.
@@Eee-kh1rr To inform myself before I talk sh*t about. Society should learn that again. Toxic positivity is a thing. Not positive = you have no reason for anything
The dude in the blue shorts done well in this fight, I think he was Whittaker's toughest fight yet. But then you gotta see the whole fight to see what I'm saying. As this footage mainly shows Whittaker' s highlights.
Whitaker is a stud he will be a world champion and the only thing tjat is gon a atop tjat from happening is Whitaker He can be as great as he wants to be
Yes, there is nothing wrong with showing off. If Leon was unworthy we'd get more a show but Leon was able to hold his own and even score to prevent Ben from going full show boat. Ben is still young and can refine more his skills, I hope he makes it big!
o Wittaker alcançou um nível de excelência absurdo, ninguém para esse cara. Essa luta foi um verdadeiro massacre, pegou tudo e mais um pouco. Sinistro.
Man. Willing show he can dodge just as well but decide to take body shots as if he is scare to get knock out by whittaker. Should have been more aggressive imo.
@@brucelang1201 absolutely agree. In this boxing era they are all obliged to make something to be noticed but this guy knows how to box. Perfect stance, good counter, always looking for liver shot. He turns his body to the left like Tommy did. I hope that is jaw is more solid. Up to now is beautiful to watch
Yes, there are some similarities (tall, quick, carrying left hand low) but there are some notable differences: 1) Hearns was very focused and never clowned in the ring! 2) Hearns’s right hand carried dynamite and he knew how to use it! 3) Hearns left hook would have knocked out or tortured this kid…until the right hand landed!
@@Bacnow except for the first point I disagree man with respect. Give him time. His right hand is launched whit the same motion and the left hook to the body too. His footwork is also the same.
Damn if people are watching One Piece(reference from the tattoo on his back) they will understand the concept of what Ben is doing. It may be a form of showboating, but I highly believe Ben is applying the idea of Haki particularly the observation haki, which characters in the anime use to dodge. And he is applying it in his fights, and do showboating to provoke the opponent to throw hands, which he is just going to dodge before attacking.
If Ben work hard the way he do and fight good boxer that he climb up in the ranking, he can become the next british world champion. The talent, body and boxing skills are there...now he need the mind&power to do this in a consequent way. Hope4him&us....because than we will see very good shows&fights
He fights like this guy named Augustus 🤣 the guy that gave Floyd 😂 his hardest fight. I wonder where did or how he came up with that style of boxing 🤔 🤔 🤔 .
@@saleemali3637 The rhythm Emmanuel had was unique; it was as if he played music in his mind, using it to evade upcoming attacks. Now, Ben seems to be following a similar pattern. Nicolini had a similar fighting style, but he lacked the rhythm Emmanuel and Ben applied.
