Last night my son said "Look at all those chickens" he saw that video but I didn't know that and thought of you saying it. it was a funny moment . Anything that goes on the ground the chickens think is FOOD. My grams ALWAYS gave the egg shells to the chickens as scrap.

Grandpa I too felt like you did at one time but once I realized our cattle's purpose in life just like I realized all my weeding and picking out of an acre garden was all for some of the best eating I'd ever have in my life...I got over it real quick...we were fortunate to be able to have a 100 acres outside of Brenham, Texas ( Blue Bell ice cream country) where my Dad had about a 100 to 120 head of cattle and we planted green beans, okra, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, zuchinni, cucumber, peas, radishes, turnips, collard greens, dill, corn, melons, beets...I'm sure I'm missing some...we ate good and only bought staple foods, milk, flour sugar, salt, pepper...things like that...we had tons of pecans that my dad cracked and peeled nightly and we had dewberries by the 5 gallon buckets and muscadine grapes and fields of bluebonnets! Don't miss out on what is laying b4 you because you will mis out I promise!

Smokey is wanting her Daddy fix. She loves GPA but she loves you a little more. All the feathered animals look like they're doing good thru the snow. The goats look like they like the cold. As a kid we had a I believe it's a Norwegian elkhound in Mississippi. Never saw him happier than the rare times we got cold snowy weather. Yes the highlands are probably built for this unlike us lol.

I always enjoy these videos, those chickens are really something. Maybe it's not a coincidence that Alton Brown used a T-Rex skeleton puzzle, to show people how to cut a chicken into pieces on his Good Eats show. And truth is, even our canary enjoyed the occasional bit of chicken for a snack. They did evolve from raptors after all. 😉

I about fell off my chair when you were showing your boots. I have a cast on my arm that uses the same system to keep the bones in place. Broke my humerous in 4 places and bones separated. Docs didn't want to do surgery because of a dialysis fistula in that arm so i have a plastic cast that wraps around my upper arm and it turns and pulls cords like that to hold my arm rigid while bones heal.

There was an opossum in the chicken coop last night. He was in the nesting box fighting with 3 chickens. When I walked in with my weapon, one chicken continued to fight. Then I took over the fight. This is the second time I found one in the coop. I think I won the fight cause it drug himself off.
