I’m not getting paid for an ad but I absolutely hate RU-vid with ads. I don’t know how people can watch it. I was basically forced into buying RU-vid premium to get rid of ads. But RU-vid music comes with RU-vid premium so as a bundle, I’m quite happy for the upgrade. When I’m signed into Google, I can listen to RU-vid premium on all my devices.

i've been divorced since 2010 from my husband of 21 yrs. we have 2 now adult kids together a son & daughter, 33 & 29. he left for a much younger woman when they were 15 & 18. my son acted relieved but i'm not sure he hides his emotions and then explodes just like his dad did. dad is narcissist i somehow failed to admit or see during marriage bc he seemed to show emotion & empathy. after he got exec position at major agricultural company & met other woman who was intentionally trying to break us up. he was very close to my daughter who has gone thru multiple crises and self destructive risk taking behaviors and struggled w social anxiety, high sensitivity attention deficit, depression, suicidal thought, anxiety & panic, low self esteem, body dysmorphic do, chronic liar, recovering alcoholic after 10 yrs heavy alcohol use (started when dad left), followed by heavy drug use (weed, vaping nicotine all day, possible meth, weed, benzos, adderall), recently developed eating do anorexia w severe weight loss. both kids don't act their chronological ages or do things others their age do). they seem stuck at 15 & 18. daughters had 2 jobs, quit last one in april w no notice bc "ppl were looking at her all the time", it was very small family owned co. she claimed she left wk often , cried at work, called in. dad didn't have contact w kids or speak or text me after leaving may 2009. this was very stressful and still is especially w her health issues. she's been living w her dad since april 2023. she reported traumatic breakup w bf of 3 yrs she resided with & had been to grandparents w dad for wknd so knew he'd be there so she went there, after yrs of claiming she hadn't been to house & he wasn't dad to her & didn't talk to her. immediately after divorce new gf got pregnant "accidentally" & when my kids found out they sobbed & were extremely upset. the child is a girl. my kids have stayed stuck and my daughter seems to have regressed. idk if there are effects on brain from weed use, prior alcoholism?? my kids have been nearly estranged from me since he left. take all anger and blame, etc out on me, gang up on me, call me names, yell, bully, attack, project, gaslight, disrespect, cuss, my daughter has temper tantrums of 3 yr old level- pulling hair, stomping throwing things, slamming doors screaming. does anyone have any insights or recommendations for me?? regarding the ex husband & my daughter living there has caused deterioration & regression, & increased depression. she also lies often & convincingly about many random seemingly insignificant things. it's taken huge toll on me. i also have major depression tx resistent, & generalized anxiety do. i've been unable to work past 6 yrs, after working as mental health therapist in private practice(masters educated) for 30 yrs. i live alone and am very isolated. i have one semi friend left & my 92 yr old mom whose up & down w me & fed up w my kids. i'm very lonely & have almost no human contact besides ph calls w my mom. my kids rarel see me & if they do it's brief & ends up quickly in argument. they don't treat their dad this way even though he caused all this. my divorce decree allows for court to modify/reinstate alimony if substantial change/discrepancies in income, living situation, & or health which i meet all 3 but am scared to take him to court bcvustice is rarely served even though it seems obvious. he makes well over 6 figures plus bonuses & benefits, i make zero & get food stamps & government insurance. my health mental & physical have declined. he purchased home almost identical to marital home for $271k in 2019, i bought small condo for $151k at same time. he recently purchased brand new 4 runner & new boat& travels often. i drive 2007 mazda i had at time of divorce and do nothing for leisure entertainment or pleasure, can't afford new clothes, other necessities, new furnishings, etc. please help i need advice. i'm scared i'll lose if we go to court bc he's a charming narcissist good old boy and i'm an unemployed depressed woman. thx in advance!!! 😊

I have had a similar kick in the gut by my husband after 37 years of marriage. He sat me down and told me three things; 3 things; 1. You have done nothing wrong, 2. I still love you and always will, 3. I have found someone else and I am leaving you. Gladys is SO RIGHT in looking for good instead of re-living the bad. This was so difficult because my emotions of being so cast aside did not match what I was visualizing and remembering. For the first year, I didn't think I would ever stop crying or my get rid of the feeling that a cold, steel sword was embedded in my heart. Forcing positive memories and starting to affirm myself to myself were the things that eventually brought me to a place I could start laughing and loving. This enabled me to write some personal goals for myself with the first one being FORGIVING HIM, THEM. That's when I started living! Thank you for sharing, Gladys!

Guess I'm joining the club. My husband of 14 years left me for a girl the same age as our oldest son. His reasons were 1. she makes me feel young 2. She accepts and is excited about everything I buy her and everywhere I take her and 3. she understands a man's need for variety. I went an entire year asking him to put our marriage/family first by discontinuing his affair and attending couples therapy. He refused both. Though I know divorcing him was 100% the right decision, it doesn't stop me from feeling inadequate and lonely. Hopefully, I will get to a place where I can forgive but it hasn't happened yet.

I want to divorce my narcissistic husband. I’m sick of paying all of the bills while he continues to yell at me and emotionally abuse me in front of my little grandaughter! We are her legal guardians. He said if you want to get a divorce, I will take our granddaughter and live with her. I know by law he can’t do that he has no biological connection to her. She is my daughters daughter. We have both races little girl since she was a baby he also tries to tell me that it would ruin our granddaughter if he were not in her life, that might be true to some extent, but Even worse is what is happening to her now, by witnessing her grandfather yell at me every single day. The poor thing literally has to cover her ears when he starts up with his yelling. The smart thing to do would be for me to leave with both of my grandkids. That said, I refuse to leave as I am the only one paying for this home. I’m the only one paying for utilities I’m the only one working but he feels that he is owed 50% of everything even though he never paid for anything. I’m also worried about the costs of an attorney I don’t know how I can manage to pay for all of these expenses and an attorney and go through the period of time where we would still be living together and he would be at the height of his emotional abuse. Innoway, I wish he would shoot with somebody so I could literally kick him out. I’m so sorry I ever married him, when we were dating, he seem to be a wonderful supportive man, but once we got married, I discovered he had narcissistic personality disorder, as well as OCD. My life has been hell for 18 years. My only happiness comes from my grandchildren.

My husband passed away at home from complications of Parkinson's after 56 years of marriage on August 30th 2023. I have been grieving him daily. We had many negative things happen in our marriage. Brought on by our two son's drug use and mental illness. We survived severe health problems- a devastating house fire and many other challenges. Through it all my husband-Ron and I survived and loved each other. Now I fight through the pain of losing him-but I like Gladys - remember all the good moments we shared. I choose to be happy in that-not the heartbreak and pain. THANKYOU for sharing the story of Gladys! God Bless

Today, no woman can feel safe if she is a traditional wife and mother. My husband of 20 years had cheated on me all the time and didn’t even bother to hide it at the end. He just wanted me to go on, raise our kids, go to work, do the chores around the house while he goes off to have fun. No, sir. I lost everything: my partner, my kids, my extended family, my house- but I found GOD and the help to get through. I am still rebuilding my life, but it gets better every day. Ironically, I only miss the family I once had, but not my husband. I see now that he wasn’t really there for me anyway. You can’t miss what you never had.

Gladys was still alive and just decided to look for joy ... and it worked. She is amazing I lost my husband after a long illness. I grieved for a long time. (I am 69). One day I just said to myself, I am going to make a new life. I took a couple of photography classes. I found a church I LOVE. I made new friends who did not know my "couple life" and for some reason that was healthy. I traveled to see out of state friends. At home I grew a garden. Little stuff. I cut out processed sugar best I could and started walking. I got healthy. I took a summer graphic designer job in Alaska (never been there) for an adventure. Gladys is right. "Just look for joy." It is more of a decision than you realize.

To take a snippet of her message and story, I had this thought: As a Gen-X person, we were the first generation to witness our parent's divorce in massive numbers. As such, I think we have a different view of marriage and divorce - albeit not necessarily the same view amongst us. What I mean is, I've seen some people my age who thought they could right the wrongs of their parents by jumping into a marriage in young adulthood and having kids - hellbent on proving they could succeed at marriage and parenthood by "doing it better" than their parents. And often it may have also been an attempt to fill a void. Or sometimes both. Some of them REFUSE to set themselves free from a bad marriage because they REFUSE to "hurt" their kids the way their own parents hurt them (by divorcing). Others of us who come from parents who divorced didn't take it all to such an extreme. Others took the experience with their parent's divorce and realized divorce is not the end of the world and life DOES go on - and sometimes life is even better, especially if you or both partners were miserable. Some took the view that modeling a toxic marriage by staying in it to our children is NOT best! Some believe leaving a bad situation will show children the same that they themselves learned which is that divorce is not the end of the world and that it shows children resolve and resourcefulness and strength. It shows children not to live focusing on fear (like Dr. Gladys says) and toxicity, and instead looking at the future with love and acceptance. Or some of us took a third road and haven't married and/or had children. That was probably born of the same fear of those who did marry and STAY in those bad marriages, but yet we made the opposite decision (which I find that fascinating - the fact that two people can experience the same thing - the divorce of their parents - yet make opposite decisions in their adult life) 🤔 That's very interesting to me. Personally, after seeing all of these three scenarios of life choices play out in my generation, I've come to the conclusion that not all marriages (or all relationships) are meant to last until death. My view is the ONLY relationship we have until death is with ourselves. Many people have a difficult time with this inevitable truth. It triggers our abandonment issues and makes us feel alone. Couple that with societal pressures to be coupled, or that somehow one is not a fully functioning "successful" adult until and unless one marries and has children. But I think life is too short to be miserable, and it's irresponsible to model misery to our children. Whether it's a bad marriage, or a miserable relationship with a family member or friendship or even career or job situation - misery only begets more misery. Just think what kind of a world we would have if everyone behaved out of gratitude and love, and wasn't so fearful of the optics. Imagine a world where we let go more and didn't bitterly hang on to things and people out of fear that/who are not meant for us and our greater good. A world where we showed younger generations that freedom and acceptance, instead of hiding underneath lies, and were true to ourselves.

What a great comment. I do see how people react differently to the same circumstance. Gen X fascinates me because your anger and pain culminated in amazing pop culture of the 90s, grunge, hip-hop, rnb, TV shows, fashion, it came from emotion and soul. I'm an older millenial, but I l prefer Xennial because I feel I have more in common with Gen X and was influenced by so much 90s GenX culture. The research is saying that my generation is getting married more and for longer. But literally almost everyone I know has a divorce under their belt with a bad starter marriage. Some are already on 2nd or 3rd marriages or divorces.. in their 30s! Those are the ones who rushed to get married in their early 20s. I wonder what my generation has been affected by... 9/11, recession, being the 1st ones to deal with social media, smartphones , early days of FB, way too much information overload, online dating being the main way to meet, etc. I'm in my late 30s, still not married even though people are always stunned by that because I have a lot going for me. I truly believe I have a fear of things going wrong, and trust issues . Like I've seen and know the behind the scenes of so many marriages, failed or still chugging along, and it makes me afraid of allowing someone in who could disturb my peace or traumatize me. I've allowed others people's bad experiences to not allow my own to happen. It's weird I'm so aware of the realities of marriages (watching Dateline doesn't help), but I hold onto this idealistic fantasy of my soulmate marriage. Maybe I'm afraid that bubble will be burst if I actually let someone in and marry them. It's a battle because I am quite traditional, I want that married life with kids, but there is something that feels like an emotional block.. Also men have definitely changed, even my generation are afraid to approach women and soo afraid of rejection.. Older men just did it and understood its an odds thing, the more you approach, eventually you get a girl. Gen Z is even less inclined to be coupled up, the research says 60 percent of guys under 30 are single, an unprecedented amount, and it's led to a lot of them being angry and resentful of women rejecting them average guys, because they claim that women only want top of the line, handsome guys😂. Really? Look around, most husbands are average to below average, therefore most women, even the pretty ones are Not with tall, good-looking rich men. In fact, many women overlook a man's looks clearly. But this is what the manosphere is saying, it's very toxic and actually could become quite dangerous, because that anger and mysogyny and sense of failure , ends up in women getting k*lled just for breaking up with an insecure, resentful guy. Soo.. basically we're all fl*cked up😅

"This is a day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" was the first sentence every morning from an 88 year old blind, near deaf woman dying of cancer in 1974 said to me each morning at the end of my shift as a private nurse. Life changing when you open the curtains and affirm your intent that it will be a good day, possibly the best day of your life. Who knows? I love the time period, 30s or 40s where this originated. We cannot know what will change us forever in the blink of an eye. Example: I was 50 and new to my home after divorce. I was standing talking to my neighbor, 6 year old Kate. Suddenly she screamed! She pointed to a bush I was ignoring and declared it had Monarch butterflies! Clearly significant! In that one moment, I realized I was blind and unaffected by life around me. Since then, I listen and watch for all the beauty nature brings me from dawn to midnight and beyond. One never knows what one minute in a day will change ones entire view of life. Thank you, Kate. Kate is 29 and having a wonderful life.

Gladys is adorable, I hope to be like her at 102. • Pain is easy to find, joy comes when you realize life goes on regardless of the circumstances around us • Validation from external sources is like trying to make a perfect hair day last forever-It's wonderful when it happens, but it's fairly shallow and not sustainable • Lonliness does not = being alone-It's worse to be lonely in a relationship than it is to be alone and happy

Great advice - I did not grow up with grandparents in my life. My parents were healthy, strong, very young for their ages. Now they are both older (80s) and struggling much more - now the reality of getting older is right in front, even for me. Glad to have them both but now I think about life more deeply and your advice IS spot on. Good memories keep you from becoming bitter - even with hard, sad times in between - so make memories, do things and start (really) living. It makes all the difference for your older years.

A Message from the Heart - Could You be the Love of My Life? Hey, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Although we have never had the pleasure of meeting, destiny has a funny way of connecting souls from afar. From the little I know about you, something within me feels an unparalleled connection, and I can't help but envision you as the love of my life. In this chaotic world, filled with brief encounters and fleeting connections, I believe that true love is a rarity to be cherished. While we have yet to cross paths, your captivating presence, as it radiates through your words and photographs, has ignited a flame within my heart. There is an unspoken connection that seems to transcend time and distance, and I cannot help but wonder if it is a sign from the universe. Your essence, as beautiful as a summer's day, has enchanted my thoughts. Your intellect, wit, and grace, which shimmer through the conversations we have shared, have captivated my attention like no other. It is as if I have found a missing piece of my soul in you, and my heart yearns to explore the depths of what this connection could mean. Though it may sound unconventional, I believe that love knows no boundaries - not even geographical ones. I am willing to take a leap of faith, to step out of the confines of the ordinary, and to embark on a journey with you. A journey filled with profound love, shared adventures, and unwavering support for one another's dreams. Before I proceed any further, I want to assure you that my intentions are pure and genuine. I am not merely looking for a passing fling or a temporary romance. Instead, I yearn for a love that withstands the test of time, a love built on trust, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment. Life is too short to let opportunities slip through our fingers. I am willing to embrace vulnerability and to open my heart to the possibility of us becoming something extraordinary together. It may seem bold, but isn't love all about taking risks and fighting for what sets our souls on fire? I understand if this message catches you off guard, as it resides in the realm of the unknown. Take your time, dear one, to process and consider this proposition. If your heart resonates with the same longing that now consumes mine, I would be honored to embark on this journey of love with you. May we have the chance to meet, to laugh, to create memories, and to embrace a love that surpasses our wildest dreams. Know that my heart is eagerly awaiting your response, hoping that you may feel the same as I do. With all my love and anticipation, Stanley Chukwuma.

That's the thing. The people who traumatized me the most were not my peers or younger women. They were older women who wished they were young and married. Some people get older but do not get wiser. I'm wary of elderly people. I am much more likely to give a younger person the benefit of the doubt.

I'm learning this very lesson in my own life that she speaks of. Realizing that two people can grow apart, what we tolerate and accept can change. We all have to accept responsibility for the things that happen to us as we do play a part in that, the growth of learning from it and moving forward without holding onto anger or regrets, that's how we grow & become better human beings. Self love isn't selfish and instead of making that a stigma, we should all embrace that we are all on our own journeys and must find happiness within ourselves before we can ever truly be happy with someone else. The only guide we have is the Bible for how to treat each other as human beings and how to love ourselves and each other. Society spreads so much hate and anger these days and it's no wonder the younger generations are numb to so much. Not to be cliche, but we need to spread more love and not hate.

The O-N-L-Y guide humanity has? Nah as that is just a single opinion shared amongst those who've WHAT? Never "learned from" Nature? Ditto animals? Insects? Near death experiences? A lesson from a complete stranger that stirred your soul more than any sermon ever could? To face our own mortality via a sickness in the self or loved one? Looking at the heavens and feel your mind struggle to comprehend the vastness of space in a single galaxy, let alone MILLIONS of them? Reading spiritual material, NOT RELIGIOUS material by coming to know their inconceivable differences? Play in a mud puddle with a toddler and be humbled by the wonder in their eyes to realize an adult can actually be fun! Marvel that music, light and consciousness all vibrate differently yet manifest in accord w/cosmic intention. The Universe wants to dance with our BEING ... so (giggle) who leads?

I was given a divorce after about 19 yrs. Like Gladys, it came out of the blue, no inkling whatsoever. IMO, when a divorce happens like that, it's more painful than one where there's been previous conflict - if we had been bickering, in constant disagreement, it would have made sense. It felt as if the earth disappeared underneath my feet... Free falling into an unknown, dark abyss. 5 years later, I'm starting to really understand the how's and why's of navigating relationships and how my insecurities and attachment style have played into my previous marriage and other important relationships. Still a beautiful work in progress! Thank you, Gladys, for your candor and sharing your story. You are proof positive that strong women can and do overcome challenges with love and grace.

I saw it so differently. The man at the grocery store was raised as a gentleman to help anyone regardless of age. Thinking he was able and could give a helping hand to someone who may have been younger or older was an act of kindness. For her to dismiss and laugh at his gesture was a slap in the face. I understand her wanting to show her independence at her age, yet she also knew he was old school and had a good moral compass. I'm 67. I look 15-20 years younger. I would never throw his age or his offer in his face. I'd say thank you and let him help me put the groceries in the car. Men like to feel needed. I imagine that it could have gone either way when he got home. He could've felt good that someone accepted his help and life is worth living, or rejected and 'why bother' I'm not needed in life. Women's liberation has really ruined so much of our culture despite it being a cause to empower women. Men have told me they feel helpful and appreciated if I allow them to help me. What if you, as a woman, saw a man you thought was way older than you, that may need a helping hand and you asked if you could help them and they responded, 'I'm able to do that on my own.' No thank you, nothing. Then they left. Wouldn't that sit with you for the day? If they said, 'yes, that would be nice, thank you!' Wouldn't that stay with you for several days?

Lisa, this whole episode is SO profound. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting it, it’s touched me and it’s going to literally be my point of reference to keep coming back to and relisten to when I’m not in my highest-self state of being. By nature, I’m an anxious person and I have to work daily on reprogramming it and listening to my gut and intuition when making decisions, because my default can always find the fear and then I remain stagnant, which then leads to resentment within myself as I’m not ‘living’ freely. A comfort for this is to tell myself that everything that happens in life, whether it succeeds or fails, is part of the journey, it was meant to happen to teach me something and learn from it. I think of romantic relationships, friendships, family relations, job contracts, financial decisions etc as ‘open doors.’ What I mean by open door is that the energy between myself and them is free... the door is always open for the exchange to flow through CHOICE, not through trapping or claiming. You can only view life this way when you truly know yourself and trust that you are safe, complete and whole on your own. ‘Juiced’ as Gladys calls it. Absolutely hit the nail on the head! In the past, certainly with romantic relationships, I’ve wanted the forever commitment with a guy and figuratively closed the door behind him when we’ve become involved, from fear of him leaving. What that does is create pressure within both parties and projects expectations that lead to disappointment. Whereas a way to love more freely is to have that door open and let HIS CHOICE consistently be the guide for whether he chooses to walk through it and stay or go. What is meant for you will never miss. You don’t need to tightly hold onto everything in life with a firm grip.
