100 %! Imagine how many of those televangelists just figured out "wait a second.... people can just give us money? And all we have to do is say jesus stuff? omg!"
The funniest thing is Cartman forgot the part of the plan about starting as a Christian Rock then witch over to a regular band to get the platinum record.
would make sense but they had to twist reality for Cartman to lose because even Christian Rock still get platinum and gold albums like every other genre of music
The band 'Sanctified' is a spoof on the Christian rock band 'Sanctus Real', and the whole 'Faith +1' is a spoof on a Christian pop band called 'Plus One'
I wanted to point out that the joke of the boys being detained over downloading music for free online was a huge thing when two guys that were like 19/20 years of age at the time launched the first app ever that allowed you to download music for free online which was Napster, and they got hit with a huge lawsuit from Metallica and many fans were outraged cause not only did Metallica sued Napster, but also sued every fan that also had downloaded their songs as well and that’s why many fans were also pissed with Metallica back then, things were out of control cause it was during that time that people started to figure out how to get away with getting music for free.
I don't see the point you're trying to make here. His name is Tolkien, named after the famous writer and Oxford professor. Are you saying he's a superfluous character only added because he's black? That he lacks an independent identity, motivation, and goals? Geeze man, how racist are you? :P
Tolkein's 3-hit combo is: a left hook to Cartman's chin, a solid punch to his gut with a right fist, and a swinging left kick to Cartman's f-ing face, dude. LMAO. That better be a combo for Tolkein in the next Southpark video game, lol.
5:29 Episode name is Kenny Dies - Returns in Red Sleigh Down He's gone for a season. I agree with Devin - it's like, the 4 main boys, then in the next tier is like: Butters, Randy, and then everyone else, kinda: Garrison, Mackey, Tweek, Craig, Token, Wendy, the boys' parents (minus Randy), and so on....
Mr. Garrison has a whole bunch of episodes centered around him, probably just as many as Randy, I don't even think they've reacted to most of them yet; he's definitely in the tier with Butters and Randy.
Man, I have to say that I love your channel man. I found you a little while ago but your videos crack me up because the way you and your friend act with each other reminds me of my friends, we are always cracking up and messing with each other. Keep up the great videos man!
I remember seeing this episode way back and when I first heard Cartman sing “I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus” and fucking died laughing my ass off with that part 💀💀💀💀
Butters is the purest child in South Park... hence his Prof Chaos aka. As for his drumming, Butters has proper rhythm from his time as State Tap Dancing Champion. 😂😂
19:40 earlier people used to associate 'inspiration' with 'religion and god' but it was later found that inspiration can originate from other scenarios as well.
U can be right and still be racist. Racism are just stereotypes about a specific ethnic group. Saying he has to have something or can do something BECAUSE he is black is racist regardless of if its true or not.
@@matthiasrauert8397exactly! Racism doesn’t have to have negative intentions, like saying Asians are good at math or black people are good at basketball is inherently good but a racist stereotype
Cartman once inherited a milli from his grandmother and bought a struggling amusement park just so he can have it to himself but needed to bring in money for people to maintain it so had to start letting people pay to come a little bit at a time to where the park was widely successful then sells it back just because he couldn't have to himself no more and lost all the money from lawsuits lol
I think a very early ep shows and explains how intellegent Cartman is. I don't remember much of it cause it's been a long time but I remember he's showing Stan and Kyle his notes over a something that he consider's a crisis. They look it over and are shocked and say ssmothing like, "Dude...This is a lot of math! You never do math!" and Cartman goes, "I only do it WHEN it's important!"
If it makes money or for fun then Cartman's a genius. He knows Karate and Sumo, and he speaks Japanese, German, and Spanish despite being dumb in school.
"Scott Tenorman must die" is the best episode of the entire series, easily. A few others I really love are "Russell Crowe fighting around the World" "Hare Club for men" "Cartman buys a theme park" "Whale Whores" "Man-Bear-Pig" "The Smug Alert episode" "The Hockey one where Stan coaches"
Jacob collier would be a good synthesis of their music tastes . Quincy jones (Michael Jackson, arethra Franklin, Frank Sinatras agent) is like obsessed with him. He does funk, r&b, African music, Indian music , folk, pop, rock everything . He’s incredible and if you guys react to music check out his songs .
Yeah, a bunch of bands and artists got super mad people were downloading music illegally. Unfortunately for them, the general public told them to screw off and cry about it but they ended up suing sites like Napster. Now it’s super normalized and they put their music on RU-vid, SoundCloud and other streaming services. 😂
Yeah it should be ok to steal people's stuff, cause you want to 🤔 Stealing is not "super normalized". Their songs are not stolen if they are receiving money for them, which they do from streaming services. Their problem was that folks like you and the "general public" were taking their music without paying for it. Which is legitimate.
@@USCFlash I mean normalized in a streaming way. Up until recently Metallica didn’t have their music up for most streaming services because of the burn from the early 2000s and there are still fights about the money made from streaming. I am not justifying the theft, just noting that what was unpopular then is the way of the world now. It was “bold” to have your albums on rhapsody or their equivalent. Now it’s stupid to not have it on them.
@@DestroySteve Well, streaming and receiving fair pay for it did not exist back then so it could not have been "unpopular". The choice was between having your music stolen or not having it stolen....and artists were absolutely right back then.
You should check out Butter's very own special episode Also, the way I understood the Faith+1 title as a video game reference like gaining strength+1 or vitality+1
south park is great period. some people dont understand the depth of this type of humor , they think its shallow and rude lol. your reactions i do enjoy, keep it going
Yeah, people that weren't alive when South Park started running and who aren't pretty aware of what was happening in the world at the time the episodes were released will miss a lot of the humor and underlying messaging but, the show is so good, it is still funny!
00:04 I ain't gonna lie I really am having a shit one but hearing you say that you hoped I was indeed having a shit one made me laugh from such a healthy place I swear...😂😂 Great Stuff as always gentlemen.👌
We need a reaction to Here Comes the Neighborhood so you can get a proper introduction to Token! Please though, don’t let Creme Fraiche fall to the back burner for too long! 🙏 Thanks for these reactions guys! Keep em’ comin’! Can’t get enough! Btw, what happened to doing the movie???
I love seeing people get into South Park and realize it's the best social commentary show of our time. Even though it's hugely loved I still think it's underrated. IMO it's the best adult show ever made. It's crazy they do this show in under a week or something. But what that does is keep them on top of the current zeitgeist which imo makes it hit harder and makes it more funny. No other show does episodes about subjects that happened days before with concise arguments for most takes of that thing that happened. Like Covid for great eg.
Y’all should watch “Here Comes the Neighborhood” season 5 episode 12, it’s a great episode mainly focused on Token and I know y’all wanna see more of him.
+1 is a dungeons and dragons joke. When you play D&D your characters have stat numbers that determine their abilities. Attack 5 for example means that your attack will be the original attack times five. In the game you might find a weapon with +1 damage. So if you were striking for three, your strikes will now be four. Cartman is selling this album on the marketing scam that if you buy this album your "faith" stat goes up one, so your quest has a better chance of success.
Devin, the answer to your inquiry-what could they make with those elements, fusion, Latin jazz, and R&B, and who is the band that makes it-is Steely Dan. An influence on Tame Impala, in fact, it’s funny you mentioned them! Best benders of genre I’ve heard. A song like Do It Again has especial Latin flare, but they do all kinds of music in a blues+jazz-based rock format; Haitian Divorce is a funky reggae, Home At Last is a Chicago blues, Time Out Of Mind is a tube of butter they insert in your ear. Every song is a freaky little short story featuring characters who are usually desperate or depraved in some dark human way. Funny stuff! But the music is to die for.
I would say Butters arguably gets more development than Kenny. Kenny might show up more, but Butters gets more lines for sure. And some episodes revolve around Butters and Cartman alone. Clyde and Craig and Tweak get decent coverage as secondary characters, with Jimmy and Timmy getting their own episodes occasionally. Token seems to get fewer episodes, but he's usually more important in the ones he's in, especially in the more recent seasons. And then there is Randy he is a main character in his own right.
butters and cartman is like igor and Frankenstein fr both smart af one is bit evil and the other is smart buts gets mistreated by the other one and seems dumb on the outside and is very bad at human interaction.
