I'm from Bristol (where the Tion Wayne fight happened) and the Gang thing is a thing here now, I was born in St Pauls and grew up in Eastville/Easton, which are both Hoods in this city, and gangs from each hood go at each other, but it was not like that so much only 10-20 years ago. I was born in the 80's and whilst there was gangs and shit back in the day, it was not quite like it is now. You could avoid it by just avoiding the underworld (drugs and what not). These days I feel sorry for the young cats growing up in these area's it's so much harder to avoid. You can get caught up even if you do not roll with the gangs, just by association and where you come from. It's mad. I have always been cool with everyone (IDGAF where you are from, what area, what nationality and all that) SO I have had friends on both sides, and know some of the younger cats who are involved in it. I have managed to avoid it, but have had a few brushes. Once hanging with 2 Somali guys I was cool with, walking past the local Yardy bar/cafe, and their OPs all piled out of the Bar because they saw these 2 guys I was with. Nothing happened, but it was one of those situations, the slightest thing and war would have erupted. I was in the middle of a beef , that until that point, I was not aware existed, and I was not part of, but that would not mean shit, I was rolling with these dudes, so I would have been attacked, no questions asked. This shit is a regular situation now for young cast in my city, and they don't always end with nothing happening, more often than not someone gets cut. It's mad that was about 10-11 years ago, so it's escalated more since then. Bristol is not on the London or Birmingham level yet though, thankfully.
