This is actually true. I wowed my wife when I started dating her with my guitar playing. Simple folk and blues songs I love to play would make her eyes glow. Flash forward 10 yrs later and she tells me to get out if I start playing. So now I just practice metal whenever I’m around her. Annoys the shit out of her. Which makes me happy. You had the arty folky stuff on order now you get the dissonant death metal.

Ever thought about asking her for what she would like to hear, or if there's anything that she would like for you to learn so that you can play for her? If she enjoyed your playing, then...she'll enjoy it now, she's just tired of the same playlist.

I mean that’s not why it seems scripted. Parabolic mics are real and cameras can zoom and still capture clear footage, that’s how you have nice zoom out shots in movies. The acting gives it away for sure though
When someone makes efforts and you like it, enjoy it, it’s so good and humble of you to appreciate it. So many times we don’t speak and then regret it later. Other time you do appreciate it and this appreciation means nothing to the counter party. One is always on either of these 2 sides of a seesaw.
