They were always there financially but not emotionally so i’m not an open person who can talk about their feelings or problems to their parents. I’m going to be 25 this year and i can’t even say happy birthday or i love you in person to them idk why its just hard. I saw how my cousins were with their parents and they have lots of love and fun memories and are really open with their parents and have a close bond.

She probably meant like her parents aren’t always THAT affectionate towards her in a everyday daily basis so when she finally heard her parents saying how they feel about her she Just felt happy because she doesn’t get to hear her parents tell her that everyday, she knows that her parents love her, she knows that her parents took their time and money to make this dream quinceañera but that day jsut really showed her like damn they are the best. Her parents didn't allow her to wear her boyfriend's necklace, and skin color doesn't have to do anything with ethnicity, yeah she's white that doesn't make her any less of a Latina, she was born from Latino parents. But she does have a bit of attitude and I cringed when she expressed her bf's love confession "weird" it's understandable to be surprised personally I probably would be too but I wouldn't think it's weird, I would think it's sweet.

Honestly, I understand why everyone is saying like “how does she say that her parents don’t give her love & affection when they worked hard to prepare this day for her”. Like, yes they did work hard & im sure she knows that they love her but actually showing love and affection is completely different. I’m the same way with my parents, I know they love me and they’d do whatever to make me happy but they never actually show any “affection” towards me. They never tell me they love me, but I know they do. And when they do say it which is very rare, it hits different tbh

Don’t ever doubt your parents love if they actually made you a quince and bought 2 dresses for you. There are many girls that can’t have their quince because either their parents can’t afford it or their parents are divorced. In my opinion well in general she should’ve devoted her speech into thanking her parents mostly for making everything possible and how much she appreciates them everyday working hard for her and her sisters. Her parents are literal dream makers and did everything they could for her and she didn’t even tell her mom she looked beautiful that day.

when I had my quince, my family couldnt afford much like all those quinceaneras have but the dress ONLY. I still appreciate my family efforts even if it isnt fancy, sadly i didnt have a father and daughter dance, my father isnt here w me but in heaven so i felt empty but at some cases I was happy I had a quince and my family made it effortly possible 💗

actually the point of a quince was to sell you off to a man and that "made" you a woman. So nowadays it just means watching your girl grow up but whatever.
