It was so different from anything he ever learned about the golf swing. He struggled with inconsistent contact for a long time (fat - thin - pulled shots) but after this lesson he was hitting straight and ripping the ball pure.

Well, I'm not too sure about the position you describe being the fountain of youth, though it may slow down the aging process slighly; and I would definitely agree that the position you demonstrate is correct. But, it has to be the hardest thing in golf for the arm to hold off the pull of the club. It is very notable, that in Hogan's slow mo swing drill- especially in the Fr Keller vid- that Hogan presses the upper part of his right arm against his right side. Even when doing the slow mo drill this is quite hard to do. But, I have found that by swinging an air resistance implement it actually makes my right arm press against my right side when my elbow returns to my right side, in the downswing. And, this then makes my right side rotate thru

As an 84 year old golf addict, I have to tell you that this is one of the best instruction videos I have ever watched that seems to get to the bottom of my current problems. Age has really done a number to my golf game. I used to have a 3 handicap but it has ballooned as I have aged. I can hardly wait to get to a range to try this out.

I sincerely appreciate that, Larry! I'm very glad to know that this video resonated with you, and I hope the instructional details contained therein serve your swing well when you put them into practice! By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Thanks for your message and have fun out there!! Tom Saguto, PGA

I’ve been watching Thomas‘s videos for a while and they’ve all been good. Today I watched this video and then went to the driving range. I actually hit a driving range ball over 200 yards. With a 4-iron. 20 years ago I could hit my four iron 195 yards. I can’t wait to play golf this weekend. I recommend Tom’s videos to anyone that will listen to me even if they don’t play golf.

I've spent a mint in private classes, training gadgets (remember the Straight Stick?) and it doesn't come close to how my game has improved by simply watching your FREE lessons. Part of my day now consists of watching your videos and IMMEDIATELY going to the range to apply what I've learned. Many, many thanks!

Live lessons rock! Putting your golf instructions into play always requires some tweaking or fine tuning…something in the swing generally needs an insightful swing thought to have more consistency as we play golf. It’s got a very Stack and Tilt theme to the swing. I use a modified version of S&T and it does help ball contact. Great work Tom.

Well, Charles - there's a reason for that..... You see, I am both a Class A PGA Professional *_and_* a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. 😎 Here is the story of my "conversion": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PM8lNNrMPEk.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m9qdPOzYUWU.html This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, and as a result thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives through my online school's step-by-step lessons and drills, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Excellent. He just needs to oxygenate his swing, a little; but, right arm depth, on the way back; and, right clavicle movement thru towards the target, are key. One other great drill you can is to just simply hold your right arm out with your elbow in front of your hand. This helps you to lever your right arm all the way back. And, if you then just simply place your left hand on the club as you swing thru, it will actually make sure your right arm starts down correctly and your right clavicle turns thru. Obviously, it is a good idea to do this drill without a club, to begin with.

Hey Tom. Been golfing over 45 years. Fully committed to your system less than a month ago. Shooting in the low 70s consistently. The one question i have is, and i dont know if its because my weight is forward, i will hit an occasional hossel rocket with irons. Any thoughts? Thanks
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 3 месяца назад
Glad to have you onboard, Mitchell, and nice playing!! 💪💪 Your occasional shanks can be the result of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep on the downswing and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your downswing path may be too in to out; 3) You may be rolling the face open or snatching the club inside with the hands in the takeaway; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) More... What I'm getting at is that there are a number of potential causes, and without actually seeing your swing it's impossible for me to identify the culprit behind those hosel rockets. By the way, if you've not already joined have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. If you look at the swings of the legends of the game, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and more, they all took the club inside on the takeaway. All of them. This is and always has been the most reliable way to swing the club. It makes the swing automatic. It becomes a "set it and forget it" swing. Ron Popeil would be proud I just said that! 😂

LOL! Yes - I believe he would be!! The senseless disruption of the natural geometry of the golf swing by those in the instruction realm who thought they new better really made a mess of things for generations of golfers, right??? Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, and I appreciate your validating "Popeilian" remarks in that regard!! 😎 Tom

Tom Help me out with concepts. Here you are emphasizing freeing / separating the shoulders from the hips. In past videos using Ben Hogan it was emphasized to use your hips to bring your shoulders around as a unit initially then thrust your arms through and around to strike the ball. Am I confused?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 28 дней назад
When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while - and this is key - the head and thus the swing center remains in place.) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help in overcoming this, correctly engaging their hips and fixing their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. In more general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my RU-vid content. Tom I keep coming back to ur system. Simple and direct concept. My problem is those hooks. I don’t roll my hands. It seems like a closed face to the path. Any suggestions
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 3 месяца назад
Well, first of all I'd say you would do best to settle on a single system and stop bouncing back and forth between various methods. There's just too much conflicting swing information out there, and trying to mix and match typically breeds chronic frustration. Now, there are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to offer an accurate diagnosis/fix regarding a particular golfer's hooking tendencies without actually seeing their swing. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, and more.... Ultimately, the answer lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line at impact is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there you can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot. By the way, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you considered it as an alternative to the KFC Club? The school is also where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. I am confused……In your online school, you empathize pointing the target side shoulder towards the ball, and the same with the trail shoulder on the follow through. At 14:31 in this video, you encourage the student to keep the trail shoulder high. Please explain.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Месяц назад
It is a "feel". As long as we retain our relationship with the ball/ground the "feel" of a level trail shoulder is still going to have it working under the chin through the zone. In general terms I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. Is there such thing as to far inside? When I use stack and tilt I feel I hit the ball to right field and miss fairway or I hit a duck hook. 1 out of 6 I will hit it flush. And bring me back again. It's been like this for 15 years. What stops the pushes and the hook? Thanks
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 3 месяца назад
Of course there is, Jonathan! If we keep ourselves centered, retain our preset connections, and allow the lead shoulder to work downward (the "tilt" component), then the arms will naturally elevate without the need for any independent lifting action. This will prevent the club from getting "stuck" too far behind us - as can happen with a shoulder turn that is too flat and/or if we snatch or roll the club to the inside with the hands - and instead we will have the lead arm in a great position to transition into an ideal downswing path. In fact, pay close attention while you watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Tom, I think I’ve you do videos where the left hip moves to the target. Is this different?

Your observation is correct, Paul, but it is all part of the same swing system and there is no conflict. You see, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? If so, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to my formal instruction style. Thanks, Tom Saguto, PGA

@@SagutoGolf thx for quick response. i struggle with hitting at the ball and hanging on the back side so i wanted to make sure. i think my "chicken wing" also is partially a result of not finishing the shoulder turn and i think this lesson will help with that. good content as always.
