There are times when Austin has so much carisma you forget you are watching an ACTOR you feel like you're watching Elvis. AUSTIN HAS A SPECIAL AURA, A QUALITY THAT CAN'T BE BUILT...Gary Oldman 7./8/22 You cannot OVERSTATE the level of aACTING ACHIEVEMENT done by Austin.....Baz Luhrmann THIS IS WHY AUSTIN DESERVES TO WIN THE OSCAR, no other nominee comes close to his astonishing performance.
Austin is so humble, kind talking, and cared so much how Elvis,s family and fans would feel about this movie. He seems to be a lot like Elvis. Wants to have so much respect for Elvis
Saw it last night and it was beyond anything I could have hoped for. Will be seeing it again next week. It was great and Austin Butler and Tom Hanks should both be in line for Oscars.
can really not believe people are saying negative things about this film. I am not even a big Elvis fan but this film was a piece of art and deserves nothing but praises. Austin deserves an Oscar it would be a tragedy if he does not get one.
If Mr Butler and Mr Luhrman do not take home the top Oscars in their respective fields, the game is rigged. Strictly Ballroom remains my favourite Baz Luhrman film, but Elvis deserves all the praise it is getting. Luhrman is a next-level mastercraftman.
One of the best performances I've ever seen. I saw Elvis in person twice. 1971 and 1976. Still have the tee shirt. My heart is so sad for the Presley family ❤️
@@kbanghart Wow did you think that up all on your own. It was just a comment. There is no need to find another interviewer. Sharing opinions is called healthy debate.
on screen - off screen he's voice hypothesis you I love how real he is Austin definitely channelled Elvis why it worked so well he was destined to play him❤️
Austin's story about his mother was truly captivating. It seem as Elvis's mom and Austins mom souls were in heaven watching Austin sing unchained melody and decided aust was the right choice to play Elvis and told Elvis to go capture austins soul that's the only way I can explain his performance.
At the end of the movie, when Unchained Melody was performed as part of one of Elvis’s last concerts, that WAS Elvis - NOT Austin. I can tell you that was Elvis because I attended one of his last concerts, in June 1977. That scene had me in tears, it was exactly Elvis as I witnessed him that night. They inserted film clips of Elvis’s live performances into the movie, including the one where Elvis sings Unchained Melody at the end of his life.
Austin did a wonderful job starring as Elvis. He captured his spirit, and voice, and dance moves. That was the best Elvis I have ever seen. Baz Lurhmann Thank you for making this movie before I died.
I'm so glad that he found Austin Butler. That was perfect choice. He is very talented man who bring us back in time when Elvis ruled and he did it spectacular.
Austin was made for this role its like he is the reincarnation of Elvis loved the film and loved Bad Luhrmann's film style, going to see it again this Friday i loved it so much
He did a good job I don't believe he did 100% Justice of Elvis because nobody could but he did 99% trying to capture all this is one thing I don't think anybody truly can do I believe that they should have hit more on Elvis's life than they did in this movie maybe they should do a sequel of this movie another person people didn't see if Elvis is like that it should be out there but it was a pretty good movie being able to fan myself but there's a lot of things in the newspapers that not many people see that happen without us I literally have boxes of news clippings and books and everything for my great great grandmother that's like three generations of before me plus I grew up on Elvis's music the great job awesome you did great in the morning trying to capture somebody that's untouchable maybe you guys try doing a sequel like I said I think you did not get in the movie
The movie was never meant to be a biography of Elvis’ life, but the way he came about becoming Elvis Presley from his very beginning, losing his twin, growing up in poverty, the influence of the black community, the way Elvis was affected by the deaths of Martin Luther King, and Robert F Kennedy, and especially the horrible way Parker used him. I think Baz did a phenomenal job of showing all of that in the movie. Go see the Searchers if you need more.
Austin's mum would be so proud of him, quite rightly. The fact he lost his mum at the same age as Elvis is another amazing synchronicity. I'm going to see the film again, loved it. :)
Thank you, Denzel Washington!! Baz didn’t mention here, but in other interviews, that he only knew of Austin because Denzel called him to say,”I know you’re doing a movie on Elvis. I just did a play with a young actor. Austin Butler. You need to see him.” Baz didn’t even INOW Denzel, so it wasn’t a ‘buddy call’. It scares me to think someone else might have played Elvis. Austin was perfect. Every second he’s on screen is perfect.
Baz was already aware of Austin from seeing him in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He also already had the tape from Austin before Denzel's call, which highly captivated and intrigued him further. It was later on that Denzel called and he said it just helped "seal the deal" and confirm his instincts about Butler.
As a fan of Elvis, I have seen so many impersonations of Elvis that utterly failed the mark. Elvis is such a unique artist, it almost appears cheesy when others try to emulate him. When Baz said "I never thought I would find my Elvis" I can 100% see why he felt that way. But holy cow, Austin is in another league. You can tell he spent YEARS studying the man he was playing. I have seen hundreds of hours of Elvis performing that I was shocked how much Austin got right. Elvis was a blonde who died his hair black. So was Austin. His voice, his look, his moves, his song.... he permeated Elvis through his being. Fantastic movie. Baz and Austin are truly what made this film the art piece that it is. Bravo!
@@luizverdecanna8023 Same here my friend because all the rest is personators but Autism Butler makes Elvis look gay with down syndrome and he's goofy looking and nerdy.
Austin didn’t impersonate Elvis, he literally channeled him. Playing Elvis convincingly over a period of 23 years, it’s just incredible, because he’s 100% Elvis all the way thru. The voice, the look, every mannerism. Goosebumps !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've seen the movie twice and I had a really hard time seeing Elvis older, under influence of all the drugs and I'm sure depression. Nothing against the filmmakers, or costume and makeup people or Austin, they all did a wonderful job it was just tough to see the young Elvis and then the older one advanced in that condition and he was only 42. I'm 50 and still feel like I'm a pretty good shape LOL
I truly hope🤞 Baz, Austin, and Tom win an Oscar! Everything on this project is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL/SPECTACULAR!!! I’m gonna watch it again for the 2nd time soon! Maybe even a 3rd time “IF” possible! Honestly I can’t help falling in love with the movie - it’s SOOO GOOD!! 👏👏👏🕺🎸🎙 TCB⚡️
I thought the movie did justice to Elvis and I am sure he would love the movie as Austin got it just right,we lost a part of Elvis and Pricilla on January 12th 2023 there pride and joy Lisa Marie Presley she with her father and her son rest in peace ❤❤❤❤❤😢😢
Vanessa Hudgens for years had told Austin that he would be perfect as Elvis and if there was a movie about him that he HAD to go for it. So she really encouraged him to go for the role. What a shame they broke up afterwards.
@@liz1993 I don't think it was because of the other actresses. I feel like Austin just obsessed about Elvis so much that he just cut himself off from his personal life ....he said that himself
"ELVIS", I cried throughout the movie...it was so surreal and so true to life. Baz, has got to be a genius with a midas touch! I will see you at the Oscar's!!
I've just seen it this evening, came out of the cinema couldn't stop crying and couldn't speak...it is an unforgettable daunting film, Austin 1000% superb, but I'm heartbroken for Elvis, and how that con man Parker, worked him to death....imo Parker killed Elvis by exhausting him with work to keep his gambling addiction going...by the time Elvis realised he was too tired, and very ill....basically lost the will to live....God Bless you Elvis, now at peace with your folks, and beautifull only grandson Benjamin keough...❤
I saw it on Thursday night it was a amazing look at not only musical genius and icon but the man behind it all and his journey as the film paces thru.. Austin thank you for a solid performance and a unique look at Elvis and your range as a actor. Baz thank you for your vision and genius and to the entire cast and crew 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This movie has got me all shook up. Seen it 3 times in ten days and will go again. Stunning. Wow! So powerful. Oscars for these two without question surely.
Austin is so massively talented, so wise, so humble, so vulnerable, he is beyond amazing, his ability to transmit emotions and feelings is beyond words.
I have never had a movie cause me to feel so many different emotions! I loved loved loved everything about it. I was a very young girl when I came to love Elvis and this film brought back ALL the "feels" from so long ago! VERY WELL DONE!!! Thanks for this amazing gift! ❤
Great interview! Loved hearing a genuinely heartfelt answer to how Austin found his connection to the role. He was phenomenal. This film was everything I hoped it would be. Baz has made an amazing film.
I saw Elvis Friday night and omg. I thoughti was watching Elvis on stage. Austin was amazing, no one else could come close to that. What an amazing young man. You deserve a Grammy for this film. I am going to seeit again this Friday. Love the movie, Baz, and Austin. Best movie of all time.
I’ve heard him explain his tape so many times but hearing it again the nth time, this way, in this interview, it chokes me up. Austin, what a sweetie and mama’s boy! I have three sons and can only hope when my little boys grow up to be men, they’d still have that kind of love still for me!
I saw the movie this weekend and let me tell you it was an incredible movie and I was still crying When I walked out of theater so inspiring never knew his life is like this
Wow I wasn’t expecting Austin’s amazing response and back story to his audition/tape. That really blew me away actually. I haven’t seen the movie but I can’t wait now. I’m sure there are people wanting to hate on him (because there always are haters) but even those people surely must see the special connection this young man has with the King. Wow 🤩
I think Elvis SENT Austin to make this movie with Baz... it's just too much of a coincidence...Souls live on FOREVER...and their energy continues on forever...and I feel that Elvis needed someone to portray him in a movie today..he sent Austin to do this...
Just saw the movie for the second time!! It was amazing, I 10/10 highly recommended to go see it. Wonderful job Austin butler and Baz Luhrmann the director and the other cast members!! Great job
I've been having existential crisis after the film but this interview inspired me. Can't wait to hear his speech when he wins an Oscar, that's how much confidence I give to this production.
Austin surprised me with his ability to convey thought. He seems very intelligent. I say surprised as his good looks are powerful and could easily distract.
I agree, I was surprised at first. But good looking people can be intelligent too. I think that's what they mainly struggle with. They get underestimated for their ability to put in work or speak properly because people judge them over something God gives them hah
watched the movie 2 times it’s so good. I absolutely love austin and he did such a phenomenal job i’m probably gonna go watch it for a 3rd time but with my grandparents who were fans!!! i love this movie!!
As I little girl I was infatuated 🤩 with Elvis and after seeing the movie Elvis I felt this beautiful young man Austin, brought him to life. He did a extraordinary job
When I watched the final scene-last performance Elvis did-I was not sure if it was Austin or Elvis himself! Wow! Loved the film and will watch it repeatedly.
I have seen Elvis at cinema three times and watched copy I bought 3 times. Absolutely wonderful. Makes me so happy to see how wonderful Austin was In this movie. I don’t have much happiness in my life now but Austin has certainly put a smile and spark in my eyes!!!!
I have never seen an actor do a whole life transformation the way Austin did. He truly became Elvis Presley. Baz created an Epic movie about a man we all knew & loved. Thank you Baz!
A colab made in Heaven of Rock n roll, gospel and country! May you all get awarded for your amazing work that made to go to 8 different cinemas to watch it :)
When you look back and see how God will do it! That was devine mama intervention and inspiration! Just like Elvis, Austin was chosen and it was wonderful! I'd LOVE to see his "Unchained Melody" audition tape.
Just saw the film. I've seen so many Elvis movies and they're always movies. This, this is a whole other animal. Starting to watch moving to the core. By the end my eyes were glued to him and I kept forgetting this was Austin B and reminding myself it wasn't EP. because of how shaken I was. Scary beyond words... be prepared.
Just watched the movie. It was fabulous. Austin captured my heart in the role as Elvis. I was so sad when his life ended. Literally heart broken. Well done guys. I love Baz Lurhman movies.
It doesn't take too much to find someone who looks like Elvis.. but he studied and studied and still seems like his voice is staying in the training he did.. YES his voice is different..that is what will give him the Oscar even with the differences spotted and heard ... there was not one bit of bad acting in this film...
The Dynamic Duo!! Austin “killed” it as Elvis!! Baz is AH-mazing as a Director!! I have watched Elvis on the big screen twice and purchased the movie and simply obsessed with this interpretation of Elvis’ life. Can’t wait for the Director’s cut!! In 2023, Oscar need to holla at them!! 🎉 Real Talk!! 😝
