Songs for the Kete has been established as a place where people can come and gain a basic understanding, knowledge about using the correct waiata for different occasions on the marae or workplace e.g. Tangi, weddings, mahi, meetings, birthdays.
Also to help encourage those who are not confident singers or speakers of Te reo and feel intimidated or whakama (shy) when put in a situation where they are asked to support with a waiata (waiata tautoko) Floss is an emergent speaker of Te reo and very uncomfortable singing publicly or under pressure but is happy to learn new skills here for this kaupapa. Riq is an intermediate speaker familiar with Tikanga and comfortable with performance singing.
We hope you enjoy singing along and adding more waiata to your kete.
