Hi PQ! I love your content. I did a little shell comparison with shiptool and noticed some mature differences in the weight of the shells: Bungo 457: 1130 kg. Vermont 457: 1746 kg. Montana 406 1225 kg. Repu 431 1321 kg. Preussen 457: 1464 kg. St Vincent 457: 1506 kg. Yumihari 410: 870 kg. Its like Wichita 118 kg vs Balti 152 kg super heavies

To be fair, all the Japanese BB's have higher than average HE alpha. That was the original IJN thing back in 2015, all three lines had higher HE alpha than the other nations (before British BB's and CA's powercreeped it). Compare it to American 457 mm HE alpha and you'll see the difference.

At this point just play the superior battlecruiser Amagi

The lower shell weight is what brings the penetration and alpha damage down compared to the mainline JP BB's, the Krupp value is the same. Same reason American shells are so useful at range despite being low velocity, they're heavy af.

The line should be an AP focused glass cannon, but its unfortunately a HE ship doing consistent damage while forcing you to aim around the broken aiming system only able to punish broadsides at 10km while also overmatching with HE into cruisers. Yep, wonderful ship to play :D

Crazy how the turrets get knocked out on this ship, because it’s heavily armored. In the 500s for face plate!

Really appreciate all these reviews. The follow-up to me with each new premium ship, aside from just the 'variety' or 'collector' angle, is if I have time for just a few games each evening would I go for this ship? Is it a better choice than Alabama, Massachusetts, Kii, Vanguard, Flandre, etc?

So it seems like the AP feels exactly like German Cruiser AP, looks good on paper, but needs like a seriously flat broadside to be able to bite and do damage. And if the armor is too thick, well you get disappointed.

Also, it is a 410 with the damage of UK 381 mm.

The AP on this line feels like Colombo AP. If you are getting cits it is worth it, but if you are not don't bother using it.

This line looks like trading pen and damage for accuracy, in most scenarios I saw, other BBs would have citadel'd or at least dealt 15k dmg and this line just shatters

Problem with the t8 is it uses the 410's which don't have reliable he or AP, but the AP is better with the 410's.. yes the dropping short bug is a problem,and yes it is a bug, but when it doesn't bug AP slaps.

Played the premium T9 in ranked with he/ap mix. Got flamed for using he and lost 5 karma. 10/10 would recommend

I think the Yumihari is an ok battleship and can perform well in certain situations, but it's not the "oh wow I can dev strike anything with amazing accuracy" ship that it was hyped up to be. The real reason to get the Yumi is the amazing community contributed artistic camo. ;)

The Amagi/Nagato 410 mm is about the most accurate and hardest hitting battleship AP in their tiers. (Except for the Russians, of course.) So I guess they have to change it up somehow. Not too impressive. If I manage to gather enough chrysanthemums tokens in the ordinary course of play to get it for free I’ll play it a bit. As you noted on stream today, Tier VIII is a bit rough these days, mostly up-tiered.

I have this T8 ship and I am disappointed. I do like the T9 however.

Not sure if you've seen this, but playing on EU, it's noticeable that high tier games (8 - 10) now regularly have 1 x cv and 2 x subs, and the standard of those sub players is actually getting good - coupled with the absolutely broken subs they've already released (Gato), it's making randoms miserable for surface ships. Is this the same on NA? Any rumblings of an ASW rework (or CV?), because the current state of the game is piss poor, unless you are willing to play in divs or sell your soul and play subs or cvs.

I do think there's a need to jump through any hoops. They're just not that good. Tier 8 and 9 are worse to make you free xp to 10.

Yeah, this looks like the light cruiser line all over again... a new line that most people will never play because their so much better ships.

i mean at tier 8 Amagi/Kii are just straight up better ships. At tier 9 the buffed Izumo is much easier to use. At tier 10 Yamato, still one of the best in the game.

as always love your videos... however... there si always a however, i think you are thinking about overmatch and HE wrong... you do not enjoy them and i get that ... the positioning and the everything else is very rewarding,,, but and here is the but/however... islands and positioning by the other person "should" counter the overmatch and HE, yeah just spamming HE is no fun, but unless you are on the Ocean map (which should be in the rotation more) your opposing team has the ability to counter, sure in a tier x ship against a tier 8 it is hard, but if the other person is paying attention to the minimap, paying attention to the game play, they should be able to counter over match and HE, so maybe not as rewarding with your style of play, but the other person has the ability to go dark, or wifu an island or any number of other tactics, kite, wiggle their arses etc.

At this point they just add mediocre techtree ships so you buy the premiums that actually make fun playing...

Hmm. I don't understand your comment regarding the spotter plane. Is there a hidden advantage other than higher range? How can the spotter plane influence your damage output or DPM other than you can hit targets 10% farther away?

I don't really understand the point of this new line. The German Battlecruiser line was obvious, the chubby US BB line sure, but this line is still a big question mark as they don't seem to do anything better or different than existing ships. Anyone can sit in the back and spam HE. It has good concealment but so do plenty of other BBs that are just better overall. So far this line is an easy pass.

It's a shame to see this new line has this reliance on HE; The Yumihari hardly has higher HE DPM than Atago, a cruiser famous for it's long reload and low HE DPM.

This ship seems far worse than the amagi.

AP performance against optional citadels (and only a token one if you do convert) combined with non-tankiness of BBs to crits have insult added to injury with these para-UK HE battleships. The game isn't circling the drain, the centripetal singularity is pumping out hilarious gutter trash like this that just go with the flow of filth.

HE is the way? Its like shooting HE with Yamato. Yeah you can do it, maybe it will work somehow....but why the f you would do that? If I want HE spam BB I would take Vincent, Conqueror, Thunderer....

Nonsense. AP pretty good in these and its the way to play just like in main IJN BB line. Compared with Amagi this has a little less len, but 0.3 better sigma on 2 less guns.

Almost every single one of your recent BB replays involve you cruising along the sides of the map, hiding in spawn, kiting the whole game, or border humping. Sometimes I wonder if you even know how to play the game, or if you're rage baiting
