A Friend of the Family is an American drama miniseries. Based on true events, it follows Robert Berchtold, a close friend of the Broberg family, who kidnapped Jan Broberg twice over a period of two years. It consists of nine episodes and premiered on Peacock on October 6, 2022. She was just 12 years old when all of this happened to her.

It’s actually not original. They were Mormons. Mormons believe after they die, they get their own planet to populate with tons of children. So…a child being taught this in their church would definitely believe a man telling them that people from another planet were contacting them and had a mission for them.

liked the series but im also happy that shows like this aren’t 100% accurate with what really went down because god dam. If it really went down the way the show does it then dam im impressed. I still feel bad for real family that was targeted but man the Mom really needs some classes in common sense. I’ve never seen anyone so stupid. I get it hes a psychopath and can be very manipulative. But its almost like he didn’t even try. And the mom was basically giving her daughter to that creep. Also my god the girl so naive. I also understand she was young and everyone makes dumb mistakes. But come on, imma leave my family, only because some guy that never raised me said we can ride the rainbow in Wyoming. Or because some tiny little speaker told me i have some mission to accomplish. Again i feel bad for the family but please take some classes on common sense, because wow this was pitiful.

Should watch the series, true lives/true story... very sad :( Sad thing too was, that's how life was back then.... 50's -70's were 'The Innocent Eras..... People truly believed in Love and Innocence back then, especially drummed in within their religions. People were raised (brainwashed) to believe 'that, that would not happen to my Wife, My Husband, My Child/ren :( Don't get me wrong, they were awesome eras, I lived them, I loved them, but sadly, they did have their dark sides too, most just ignored them :(

FBI office in/around their city was closed. They said they need to call another office, which was open. And the mother decides not to! And instead wait till Monday.

This Series should be shown to ALL young girls (& boys) either through schooling or at home (with their Parent's consent to watch it of cause or watch it with them) I'm sure it will give them (child) a greater understanding of how 'one can be' so easily brainwashed :(
