Ground teams focus down AA, air player trades well with almost everything through kamikaze bombers.

From my experience in Supreme Commander; this is *ok* at the start of a game, but almost always falls apart because of APM. Managing your eco well enough to handle both a frontline and your own air defense is also a big issue. Everyone wants to build some flak, but building *enough* flak to stop a dedicated air push requires far too many resources and space to be worth it except deep into the late game, and if the bombers get past the best way to take them down is to chase with fighters, which takes away from the resources you need for your frontline. And the biggest issue? You still need fighters to clear the enemy's air space for your bombers. The main issue in both games, however, is that almost no matter how much AA you build, bombers *can and will* get through if the push is hard enough, and the only way to stop them is to have units that are faster and can chase them. So to counter bombers, you basically NEED high level fighters. And to counter high level fighters in the enemy's territory? You need fighters of your own. There's no real way to stop fighter balls because if you want to attack the enemy by air, you need something to clear the skies well behind the enemy's front line. And when it comes to actually making pushes, you want one player to be in control of all the fighters due to how fast they move, as you need the attack to be cohesive, so it just makes sense for one player to control the primary air play for the team (or two players, of it's an 8v8). I'm not saying frontline players shouldn't help with their own anti air; of course, that's always helpful. But there's a fundamental reason the fighter ball always happens, and it's because it is necessary not only for defending, but also for clearing the way for your own attacks.

@@TrueChaoSclx I knew there had to be a reason I wasn't seeing it in games, if it worked people would be doing it. I just love the idea of air ticks. Like tumbleweeds in naval maps I'm sure there's uses for it once there's already an opening. Or as super early el-cheapo bombers.

@@Zasek2112 one reason is that Legion doesn't get played much as it's still in development, so that's definitely something to keep in mind. If the game host doesn't enable them in the Experimental game settings, no one can play them. I think one issue too is that if they are *too* fragile, they're going to struggle a lot with getting anything done. Basically all dedicated AA has at least a little bit of AoE, which makes dodging them really hard. That's why the T2 flak cannons can shred into swarms of T1 fighters if you don't spread them out, for example. So for them to work, you probably want to soften the enemy up with regular bombers first, i.e. to take out their flak, and then go in with the cheap kamikaze bombers. I'm sure we'll see them more as Legion gets closer to being released as a full complete faction and more people start playing them though

@@TrueChaoSclx I was just thinking out loud. I love the idea of lots of them suprising the crap out of someone. Back line can sometimes be a bit slow to get AA up. The game is full of rock scissor paper situations and this would probably not be expected.

And looking at some quick math, I'm pretty sure that 3 blitzes could ,in fact, kill a pop-up on their own, while being cheaper than centaurs, lmao
